Answer This Question
A: No, per NEC 110, I believe, you are unable to alter original design of "listed" and approved equipment
Im not sure if Square D Homeline makes a 100a main lug interior panel with a hinged door. You may have to go with a QO or GE panel for that

Q:I have this panel in a camper that will be fed by power at the campsite. Can I backfeed a two pole 50 amp breaker in this panel to act as a main? Rv cord plugs into a power inlet box (reliance pb50) that is then wired into this panel.

Answer This Question
A: Hi,
Yes,the 2 pole backfed main breaker must be installed in positions 1 and 2. The maximum backfed branch breaker ampacity that can be used is 100 amperes with catalog number HOM2100. A retaining kit, HOM1RK, must be used to secure the backfed main to the interior. If the load center would be used as service entrance equipment or as the main panel, barrier kit PKSB1HOMBF can also serve the purpose of a retaining kit.
Recommended double check with your local authority before the purchase.

Q:I read where you say not to link the neutral and ground bars. Do I need to drive a seperate ground rod or can I just run 4 conductor cable and ground it to the main panel?

Answer This Question
A: It depends on the code for your area. Mine is the later ,"four conductors grounded to main panel with no connection between neutral" and ground bars in sub panel."
by|Sep 10, 2022
A: Robert,
The branch neutral conductors should be terminated in the insulated branch neutral assembly terminals. The main neutral should not be bonded to the enclosure in a sub-panel application (i. e. the green neutral bonding screw will NOT be installed). Use a PK__GTA Ground Bar Kit for terminating the equipment ground conductors. Dependent upon the load center in use, the Ground Bar Kit may be factory included, factory installed, or require purchasing separately.
NOTE: The Main Neutral Bar in a Square D load center should NEVER be cut or separated for ANY reason. Also, the Branch neutral bars connected to both the left and right side of the Main Neutral bar, should NEVER be disconnected for ANY reason.
You need to run separated ground on this subpanel, because on Main Panels the ground and neutral are bonded, contact your local autority before any installation.

A: If this subpanel goes in a separate building you will need a ground rod. If in the same building no additional ground rod is required.

Q:What size cable do i need to run from my maine panal to this 100amp box to us as a sub panal in my shed

Answer This Question
A: That will depend on the how many amps the breaker is that you are using to run to the subpanel. For instance a 50A breaker would require 8awg wire.
by|Jun 28, 2022
A: When I do the thing I first ask what do you all need to run if it’s just lights a 30amp 4 wire system is enough.
If you want enough for a frig, an air compressor or even a welder once in a while a 60 Amp circuit can be more than prenty.
