A: Yes, I bought mine several years. they are unfinished wood. you have to sand, stain to your color liking and put a protective coat before installing them. I also install new wood risers painted on white and the end result was great.

Q:I am thinking to install this over the stairs. i have two landings 3' x 3'. This is 5/8 thick, and most plywood comes in 3/4 thickness. What would be the recommendation for the landing to match with this or the top most step so that it is flush with the flooring at the top and on the landing? thanks.

A: Shim the tread with 1/8” plywood or multiple layers of felt paper and install 3/4” plywood or better yet 3/4” hardwood flooring
