A: I don't think so, that is made for PVC. PVC is cheap, easy to work with and much more durable than hose. You could simply use that to run to your pump and a few elbows.

A: NO! There is an adapter for connecting a drain line to it, but you would NOT want to plug it. That defeats the purpose. It's supposed to catch any leaks and route it either outside or to a drain to prevent flooding. If you plugged it, it would overflow.

A: Thanks for the feedback! It's a great question and we are going to look into this so we can get the aluminum drain pan thickness info added soon.

A: Not an answer, I'm bumping this. I have the same question. It's been a year and a half since the "manufacturer" said they would look for the gauge of the aluminum. Hard to believe it would take them more than an hour to find the build specs, or put a micrometer on it and post the results.
Can anyone answer this?

Q:The description says "drain pan should be the minimum of 2 in. wider than the water heater base" and the top diameter is 24 inches. So, will this fit a 22 inch water heater, or does the base need to be 24 inches?

A: You will need 24" pan to fit 22" heater. The diagram of sizing can be seen on this listing page: https://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Plumber-s-Choice-24-in-Aluminum-Water-Heater-Drain-Pan-24AWHP/309163037
