For sinks without an overflow, we recommend using our model VG07000MB, which is specifically designed for sinks with no overflow. A:  Hi Wayne, A little silicone caulking won't hurt. However, we would advise to first check to see if the leak is coming from the top of the sink where the flanged gasket is and to check if the overflow of the sink is aligned with the overflow of the drain. A:  Sorry for the late reply.  We were out of town. Although we haven't had any issues with the Vigo pop up sink stopper, we have had problems with another brand. My guess is that there are two possible causes: 1) the installation was done incorrectly, or 2) there's a issue with the quality control of the item. We have a stuck pop up sink stopper in the open position. And we can't figure out what's wrong either. I think it's an item defect.

A:  This has happened to me as well, there is a spring in the drain that gets corroded from the hard water here in California. I unscrewed the drain and soaked it it Lemi Shine and then lined the spring, has worked perfect since doing this. Hope this helps
