A: I didn’t use a box spring. It’s fine with just a mattress.

A: As far as supporting the weight, I suppose you could use a box spring and mattress; but remember that the platform is already 14 inches high. If you add a box spring (of maybe 10 inches) and a mattress (maybe another 10 inches), then the top of your bed is going to be nearly three feet high. If you're okay with a bed that high, then it's workable. You might also face some sliding issues because the frame is hard on top and most box springs are rather hard on the bottom. With only a layer of fabric between frame and box spring, your box spring might too easily get jarred out of place when you bump into your bed walking by or moving the bed in the room. With a high frame like this one, you might be better off just using a mattress, especially since the purpose of most box springs is only for raising the height of the sleeping surface, not for cushioning. We're using the 14" high frame and a mattress that is about 13" thick--comfortable overall height for us, no sliding issues, and no need for a box spring (or its expense). Our frame was easy to assemble, feels solid, and provides enough clearance for a lot of storage underneath.

A: The bed frame is pretty tall, u have an 11 matress, if your going to use a box spring I would probably recommend a thiner(lower) one, unless you want your bed to be really tall
