Customer Reviews for Ames Hoe/Cultivator Combo with Wood Handle

The tool head design works well for the intended purpose. However the poor quality of workmanship in manufacturing (cheap overseas chinese labor ) leaves a lot to be desired. I purchased 18 units of this item, as my company uses them daily in their work. The 3 prong fork/ chisel wedge welded joints each fail continually across all 18 items purchased items, means the fork prong and or chisel head each eventually break off within 3 weeks of use at the weld joint due to weld failure. In addition the wooden handles continually break off by snapping nearer to the head itself. Ames need to implement better quality standards for what is acceptable production quality control :-(

tool was already assembled and it's light weight for me. I work with mostly potted plants so the size is just right. I've owned one for many years. Reason i keep buying is that my friends come over and they like it and take mine. I gotta put a stop to that.

Great tool, enjoyed working on flower bed

This combo worked well breaking up the ground for my annual planting.

I use this all the time in the yard. It's great, so I bought another one from the clearance rack, just in case. Very odd that two weeks later, the old one I have had for four years broke. Great timing. I'll go see if there is another still on clearance. I really beat on this thing and it still lasted for years.

Nice weight and feel.

Lighter weight than I expected. I have to really hammer this thing. I wanted something with a little weight to help it go into the soil as I hammer down on it. Other than weight, this Hoe/Cultivator works well.

The hand board is broken after using it twice

Very nifty, strong handle, feels secure and the handle length allows for a good swing with the wrist - for gardening in tight spaces.
