Thank you for your feedback. Our apologies you are experiencing a leak. Normally, if the system is leaking from the top, it is usually a loose or dislodged O-ring, or the filter is in upside down. Please ensure black rubber O-ring under the lid is in place. Also, please verify the cartridge is installed correctly. You may reference your Owner's manual for each.
As far a cleaning the pitcher, you may use a thin bottle brush, easily purchased at WalMart, or you may place the pitcher in the dishwasher (not the lid). Just be sure not to run the heat cycle.
