Dewalt is one of the best in tools

This is a great router, so far. Comes with 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets, carry bag, the plunge mechanism which is removable, as is the router from the base. This is exactly what I needed as I was mounting it to the Bosch router table and it fits like a glove. Have made some picture frames with it and it has good power and accuracy.

I bought this product for my husband and he has been loving it. The product came with a nice carrying case to hold all the parts. He has been using it to help build a table. This is his first router so there is a bit of leaning he needs to do but overall, he seems to be figuring it out. This is a great tool to have around the house and have found several good uses for it. It has a good bit of power which is nice. He has had a bit of a struggle adjusting the bit but I think he's just learning how to use it. We also have the router edge guide which has really helped him. Overall, a good product to learn on. I can't wait to see what my husband builds next.

Smooth startup, easy to adjust depth. Exceptional cutting, variable speed is a must. Wish the instruction manual was a larger print.

This router is a poc don’t buy unless you just plan on using it once

I had bought the router about a year ago although i only purchased the router with the fixed base and the bag. However now I regret not buying this kit it is a powerful router it has handled large raised panel bits, heavy and extended use, drops and hits. the fixed base is strong and does not move once locked. the plunge base is smooth and effortless. Definitely if you are in the market for a router this is a solid choice although before putting it to use ensure your locking latch is tightened to sufficient tension to keep router motor in place and provide some form of dry lubricant to plunge base.

I am pleased with the Dewalt 12 amp fixed and plunge base router kit. I am currently making an end table with a round top and round bottom shelf. I used the plunge router and a straight bit to cut my circles. I was very pleased how the Dewalt plunge router performed.

Motor gets stuck in plunge base

The elevation control jams up. I returned to Home Depot for another, but the second router had the same problem. The router on the demo shelf at HD did not have the problem. I even went to Woodcraft and checked them out (same make/model). The same was found at Woodcraft: one of the display routers stuck; one of them did not.

I used to love these routers. I don't know what has happened the last couple of years to Dewalt though. The last few I have bought run really hot. They get so hot after 2 or 3 minutes running that you can't even touch the collet or the bit without actually getting burned, and that's just letting it run with no load on them. The ones I had in the past never got that hot before. When you question the customer service you are told to take it back to the store. At least what I was told anyway. Still have no answer as to why they run that hot, and I never turn them up past 2 which I think it 10000RPM, so I am clueless as to whats going on with them. Seems like a fire hazard to me...

So far we love our new tool. My husband has made a lot of our diy projects look amazing! It is a little tricky to switch pieces, but together we manage just fine. Overall very happy with our purchase.

Package came without wrench, owners manual and collets. The router was subsequently returned.

Very happy with my purchase. There is certainly a learning curve.
