1/4 adapter is just garbage
Just bought the DeWalt 2 1/4 Hp Router Kit (w/plunge attachment) yesterday. The unit comes with an 1/4 collet adapter, for cutting a 1/4in. dado in plywood. After two perfect dadoes and on the third dado the router was taxing, I stopped and was shocked to see the adapter cage was mangled and almost ruined the plywood. The adapter is made of thin mild steel - not suitable for this quality of router. I am going to call sales and see if they offer a proper 1/4in. collet before I return this.

Missing1/2 collet waiting a month since March17
DEWALT SUPPORT CENTER. Called on March 17 brand new missing a 1/2" collet and had been waiting since then. Cases request #4034824 # 4181284 # 4218308.

Less than 1 year of use, motor burned up.
Used less than a year in very light use. I went to route some slots in the floor, and within 30 minutes, the motor stopped working in a big puff of white smoke! Took the top off and the brushes were chipped looks like holders are shifted. <8hrs total use

Power and versatile!
Alright! I am a professional home builder that uses my tools daily on the job for many different things.
I don’t use the plunge stand often. So this review will not include that feature. 95% of the time I have this guy mounted To a table! It has a lot of power and I keep it turned down for most of the wood products I use. Southern Pine, Walnut, Maple, Cherry etc that realm.
I can tell you I have never had a hiccup and it does it’s job on every piece of wood I throw at it! From time to time I make I my own trim even with this guy on the table!
Honestly you won’t be disappointed with this unit!

This is a really nice router. I bought it to replaced a single speed, 40 year old Craftsman router I had handed down to me. This router is miles ahead with soft start, variable speed, both a 1/4" and a 1/2" shank and an interchangeable plunge base, it's worth every penny. It handled a 3 1/4" raised panel door bit like it was nothing.

First off if the latch held the routers height like it was designed to do, I would change my rating and recommend this router, buuuut it didn't. I ruined twohard wood boards before I realized the bit was moving down no matter how tight the bit was because the way you screw the motor up and down to adjust height, err depth which ever you call it, the latch on my specific router would not hold the in place when turned on don't by this routeri was afraid of this before I got it but the price was right. So I returned it and got the Bosch 15 amp MRC23EVSK ang got exactly what I thought I was getting from the Dewalt except a little more power.

Major upgrade from ryobi
I had the ryobi plunge base router before this. I went through 2 of them in 4 months. Finally I decided to make the upgrade- something I should have done from the get go. The ryobi is all plastic, and really kind of ugly. The dewalt on the other hand is machined aluminum with rubber like grips, much better construction. The plunge lock is metal as well and actually holds the router at a certain depth. I leveled the entire slab in the picture almost 3/8" and never had to touch the depth once. Can not recommend highly enough this product

Absolutely the best money I've spent on a tool!
It is hilarious because it literally cost $50 more than my tablesaw did! It is a great tool and well worth the money. know that the dust collection will only work on the plunge base, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. The tool has lots of power and really doesn't struggle with much. I'm a newbie with routers, so I probably work it too hard, but it doesn't care. I originally wanted a Porter Cable (Norm Abrams had like 20, so they must be good!) but they didn't have one with a plunge base at my store. I needed it for a project that I was doing that day, so I just hoped for the best.... I'm here to tell you, I got it! The only issue I have with it is that the plunge base has two posts. If you put down pressure on the larger one's side, it plunges smoothly. If you put it on the smaller one's side, it is a jerky movement. That is the only issue that seems like a design flaw. It is still the best one I've ever used and if you remember that one thing (maybe just my model) you can just push on the one side and it's great!Overall, I love this router and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Powerful and smooth
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased these to help with flattening this eucalyptus slab. It did just a great job and didnt bog down at all. I would highly recommend this router to flatten any slab.
