Product is labelled 1/4 but is not. It fits 1/8 line. The way they label it is misleading.

I just needed a 1/4 inch valve (I bought a bunch of them, so cost was a factor) that would allow me to adjust the flow of irrigation water to various plants and trees on our property. This valve performs exactly as I had hoped.

About half of these I have leak but it is a very very small leak. They serve a great purpose by isolating certain plants like my tobaccos and peppers. I will take the small leak for convenience and better irrigation.

Valves leak, waste of time and money
I installed 4 of these valves in my drip system and they all leak around the valve stem open or closed. I can't imagine why you would want a valve that leaks like an emitter.

Waste of money.
Shut off valve leaks. After I installed the shut off valve, I turned the water on and water shot out of the valve around the handle. A waste of my time and money.

Leaks all the time, on or off
This little bugger ruined my drip irrigation plans: have plants with different water needs on one water line, would have liked to turn on & off small lines but these just leaked all the time, tried pulling them out and putting in goofplugs but those leaked too!

they leak a lot
These don't just let a slow leak through the hose. They also leak at the valve itself. If I was using them for water I wouldn't care but they let a lot of air pressure out of the bubble system for my fish tanks.

These were hard to find and they work just fine
I had had trouble finding these turn offs and found them at Home Depot on line, they work fine a little watering system I sat up for some of my wifes plants.

    Valves work great!
We have a huge amount of drip irrigation in our garden. We use these shut off valves on our individual 1/4" lines. They are simple to install, simple to use and work great! They allow us to water only where we are growing vegetables which saves a lot of money on our water bill. Highly recommend!

$1 and 99% effective = good buy. (but they do drip).
Long story short, they drip. I think they're a great buy. 2 valves for $2 is cheap and they work well except in the closed position they still let a slow drip through. This is usually ok in that your whole micro system is on some kind of timer or master on off valve, so these let you almost entirely turn off certain lines, except a slow drip. This doesn't seem like a big deal for the 10-30 minutes the system is on and after that the master valve is closed so the drip is irrelevant. Given all that I give them 4 stars. That said, do not plan to use them to shut off lines with outlets that cannot accommodate a drip. (That is, if you're going to shut off a line and then move that lines emitters from plants and hang them over your priceless artwork, then this is not for you). On a more realistic note, I'll be looking for a more 100% effective valve, as I use them in an always-on animal watering system, so the drip is 24/7 for me. Note: I have a 1/4 inch tube system with a 10 PSI static pressure regulator that I measure as having a 20 PSI output (don't know how accurate the rated 10 PSI is and I don't know how accurate my 11 dollar gauge is that says 20 PSI, so who knows).
