Good saw could be better.
Air filter is poorly designed and leaks fine particles into the carb throat.

    Light weight power
This Echo 501P model is an excellent saw. I did a lot of research before buying it, compared to the 50cc prosumer saws from Husky and Stihl I think it comes out on top. Very light weight, plenty of power and well balanced. I have a couple of days of hard cutting using it now and am very happy with it. It starts easily and runs well. I think it is a bit underrated. Being the pro version it gets compared to the pro version of the other two big companies but it is a much better value at more than $100.00 cheaper.

      Awesome little saw
Bought this a month ago and have cut down and bucked 4 apple trees and has performed flawlessly. The factory warranty plus parts availability online is also a plus. Bought this also for its size. Fits on the front or rear rack of my Polaris sportsman xp1000 and will be used to trim any downed trees while riding the trails.

        Super saw
I bought this saw a couple weeks ago and have been using it to cut up some huge dead standing oak trees and a very large maple tree. It has great power for such a light saw. And tough too due to my overlooking the situation a 12 foot section of oak about 14 inches across rolled down off of the top of the tree help about 4 feet knocked the saw out of my handed and knocked me a few feet away. The saw didn't even have a scratch on it. It runs flawlessly it's easy to start and I'm sure it will be around a while like my other Echo equipment. They are just great machines to work with. I wouldn't trade for any other brand.

        A great 50 CC saw
I have owned a 501P for the last 3 years. I got an 18 inch bar on mine. Goes through whatever I throw at it. Lightweight, easy to handle. A sharp chain and let it eat. Easy to maintain, takes right off and just eats wood up. Love this saw

It's a real heavy duty chainsaw. I am glad a 50cc chainsaw was bought by me.

I spent a week trying to figure out why it would not start for the first time. I then found a hack online that said to put some 2 stroke oil directly into the cylinder by removing the spark plug. And not to use the decompression button. Once I did this along with some starting fluid, It fired right up. Since then, it has been starting up real easy with out the aid of starting fluid or adding a little oil to the cylinder. As far as cutting, It seems to work just fine.

            when it rans
I brought this saw to replace a cs-450p that ran great but it died of old age. This saw is more powerful when it decides to run and not lag. Starts to cut very nicely but then starts to lag and stop cutting. I returned to the dealer where upon they made some adjustments and it work fine for a few cuts but lost power again. Do not buy this saw .

The Echo CS-501P is a great alternative to the “big 2” saw manufacturers and it offers “near” pro level quality with pro level features. Mine is dead nuts reliable and really woke up after it broke in. The ordering process went well.

              Glad I bought it
Picked this up just before going to volunteer in KY in January to do tornado cleanup. It is well balanced and powerful. Used it a lot over 2 weeks down there. Had to swap the bar when we got back, and I wish that was covered under warranty. Even a new chain started pulling to one side when cutting, as though one edge of the bar rail wore down prematurely. Other than that, it's been great. I've been switching my lawn care company to Echo power equipment due to reliability and better warranty.

              Echo 501P
I bought my echo 501P about a month ago and I’m very happy with my saw. It’s lightweight and good power make it a pleasure to use. It starts easily with the compression release hot or cold. I use it for a limbing and cutting small and medium size trees for firewood. I have a 620 P that I bought about five years ago I use for falling and bucking the larger stuff. I’m glad I chose echo they are a high-quality and dependable saw. Stafford is a good company to buy from I was surprised when they shipped my saw the same day I ordered it.

Good saw. Many positives limited negatives
Having 4 saws from 30 to 60 cc professional stihl this 501 has the good overall balance. It is light for it's size. I generally choose it for all around works and by far beat saw for it's price.. As for downsides. I'm pretty sure echo changed the sprocket or at least set it to spin faster to make it cut faster. To offset it's lower torque it spins faster then other saws Switching to it you have to get used to the faster spin rate and lower grunt. Will tend to bog if trying to cut to fast. Positives.. light weight, decent power, best saw for price. Negatives fast spinner, less low end grunt. Bottom line I switch between this and my sthil 362 almost daily when cutting and felling. Always use my sthil for felling with more torque and this for most bucking.(logger, wood burner 10 cords annual)

                Great saw
Bought the saw midsummer and have cut several cords of wood so far. Starts easy cuts fast and is not heavy. I have several professional saws and this is my go to saw. Love this saw.

Echo 501P what more can a man need?
I bought this saw after my other two chainsaws didn’t want to start. Nothing worst then driving two hours to help storm victims clear their yard after the storm. Well just happen that the owner had an Echo cs 400 and it ran like a charm. So I started my research and found the 501p fit the bill. I’ve been cutting trees ever sense and it always starts. Thanks for making an old school chainsaw that works!

                  GOOD SAW
HAD THIS SAW NOW FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. HEAVY FARM AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT USE. I ALSO RUN EFCO, STIHL AND POULAN. I GRAB THIS SAW FIRST WHEN I CAN. THE CARBURATOR IS VERY PREDICTABLE AND EASY TO ADJUST BY THE OWNER AS GAS AND CONDITIONS CHANGE. THATS A BIG PLUS WHEN COMPARING TO OTHER SAWS I RUN. ITS LIGHT! IT CUTS FAST! IT OUTCUTS MY OTHER SAWS SPEED WISE. THE EFCO 152 -SAME CC- IS CLOSE AND SEEMS TO HAVE MORE TORQUE, BUT IS A HEAVIER SAW. EFCO HAS SOME OTHER ISSUES AS WELL. THE ECHO SWITCH IS MY ONLY ISSUE AND NOT A BIG ISSUE- THE ON/OFF SWITCH. IVE SHUT SAW OFF IN USE AND OCCASIONALLY FORGET TO TURN ON AND WONDER WHY ITS NOT STARTING. GOTTA BE A BETTER WAY- LIKE STIHL

                    Works great, but...
I bought this pro model because I live on a 12 acres and has many trees to fell a little at a time. My Stihl 015L lasted 40yrs so I'm so stranger to chain saw. At first the saw started easily, afterward It would not start, My dealer informed on how to start the saw when it gets flooded which happens when the saw doesn't want to start within a few pulls. eg hold the throttle wide open and pull start it. easier said then done. You'll need your knee to hold the saw to do this, but it works. Now as for the chain bar, in a word it "horrible". The guide points locked up after felling two trees and cutting up the timber. I fixed it by oiling and resetting the tip guide points. I'm not the only person with this complaint, Looking for a better chain bar.

This is a well balanced chainsaw that is light and well made. I have run numerous saws that all have there pros and cons but the only con I found with this saw is the plastic chain guard; that is it.

                    Best bang for the buck
Was considering the 501p or Timberwolve. Glad I went with the 501, haven't found a need for more power yet. I have been cutting frozen ash and maple all winter long with no problem on a 18" bar with full Chisel chain. What I don't feel is the weight! Easy to buck and limb for 8+ hours a day, no fatigue. Easy to start too.
