Bulb works well, as advertised. Very bright, but it's a large, heavy bulb to get this many lumens out of a CFL. There is no humming sound either. I can't believe it's been discontinued!

Shop lighting
Finally a CFL with strong illumination with just 68-WATTS of power!! It's too fat to fit in a reflector but it doesn't really need one. Great for garage, storeroom, and patio lighting.

Perfect Grow Light for Herbs and Flowers
This 2700k bulb promotes plant flowering. It's a very efficient bulb compared to using incandescent spot lighting. Low heat footprint. Place the bulb within 3" of a plant for maximum use of the light. My tomato plants are huge!

Light up your whole darn garage!
This is the brightest CFL I've ever seen and perfect for the garage. It's 20 degrees in my garage right now and it starts up immediately. However the full warm-up time is extended in these low temps.

Not that bright.
I purchased five of these thinking I could replace the 300 watt incandescents in my garage. Should have researched this a bit more before buying. It seems that the incandescent bulbs I have been using(GE, Phillips) emit about 6000 lumens. These are rated at 4200. Guess I could simply wire in more medium bases, but at this cost per bulb, the tab is getting steep. I also tried HomeDepot's EcoSmart 100w equivalent cfl's in the same fixtures. The 100w seem to put out about the same amount of light.

Great bulb!
Very large, but also very bright.
It takes 1 to 2 seconds for the bulb to turn on (~80% bright) and ~5 minutes to reach it's full brightness.
I bought several and I love them, a huge cost saver!

Large light bulb
I agree that this bulb is quite large. But it's also marvelously, wonderfully, ridiculously bright. A 68 watt consumption is an 82 watt savings over the 3x Halogen fixture this replaced, while filling the room with much more light. The color temperature is warm, almost feels like an incandescent. Great light bulb if you can make the space: It's 8 1/4" high and 4 1/2" in diameter.

Huge!
Four stars because the idea of using only 63 watts for 300 watts of light is brilliant, so to speak. Not five, because the specs aren't clear about the size. The bulbs are huge- more suited for a grand-entrance fixture than a livingroom lamp. The bulb is more than 8 inches tall. I had to return them, which was a painless process, btw. Kudos for that, HD.
