DO NOT BUY!! This was the most expensive padding available at our Home Depot and it started to wear out after less than a year. Three years in and it’s visibly flattened in high traffic areas and you can also feel the difference when walking over high and low traffic areas. In the attached photo you can see the more wrinkled section is one of our high traffic areas in the house.

This is a half inch blue foam to put down before carpeting. It has a thick plastic coating on both sides, making is moisture resistant. The foam is pretty dense and sturdy. It does not tear when you grab it and you can cut it with scissors or an utility knife. It is a great value for the price and makes any carpet feel more plush, as well as insulates floors that may be cold in the winter.

This is nice carpet padding but still a little too squishy for my liking. Would like for it to be a bit firmer to maybe hold up longer under the carpet but it's comfortable to walk on. It is definitely waterproof. Our dogs are not 100% potty trained so the waterproof feature is the most important factor for us. The moisture barrier is on both sides so it also stops moisture from the bottom. We used the scraps in the garden to stop weeds. Works great for that! It arrived in a well wrapped and sealed plastic bag inside of a large box. The box wasn't in the best condition when it got here due to the weight of the product but the actual product was fine.

Perfect under area rugs with pets, kids, or other craziness in the house that will likely result in a big spill hitting the carpet. The flexible yet moisture-proof barrier (both sides!) will keep spills from reaching your hardwood or subfloor, saving you from mold issues and expensive repairs or cleanups (make sure you get real underlayment tape to connect the edges). This one is on the lighter grade of stiffness, so ensure your carpet/rug can handle the flex of normal foot traffic (most wall-to-wall carpet will do better with stiffer foam that keeps the carpet backing from stressing and pulling apart). The 8# jug I set on it upside down compressed it about halfway, and with a 2 sq.in. cap, that's only 4 psi; for comparison, if your heel is twice that size and you weigh 200#, that's 50 psi. You can compress it to near zero thickness with your fingers with medium effort. Has a very light new-carpet smell that dissipates fairly quickly and arrives plastic-wrapped and boxed in a 6x45-ft roll. Nice to know my carpet isn't resting on a sponge that's just waiting to absorb and trap liquid accidents!

It's for a very "select few" that I can recommend this product. First, it's not even close to being a 'premium' carpet pad. At 1.6 lbs/sq yd, it's about 1/4 the 'heft' of a premium pad. And you will feel that 'under foot'. Applying about 4 lbs/sq in of force, i.e. a 160-lb man walking in a size 10 shoe will fully compress the pad [down to about 1/16"] ... and you definitely feel that loss of resiliency immediately. And remember, the carpets going to weight at least 4 lbs/sq yd. Second, I have to question the efficacy of a moisture barrier on both sides. Here's my thinking. [1] if the upper the barrier's intact, the carpet absorbs the spill and it'll dry out. [2] if the upper barrier is compromised, the spill is absorbed by a 'sponge' and who knows how long it'll take to dry out; and forget about vacuuming up the spill. [3] if both vapor barriers are compromised, the spill migrates to the underlayment where it's essentially 'sealed in" for a very long time. The key performance metric here is "how durable are these barriers"; the side facing the OSB sub floor is going to be chaffed with every footstep!. So, about the only people I'd recommend this to is landlords who have to deal with pet "accidents" and install only FHA-grade carpeting ... and tear it up and throw it away every 3 years.

Feels great under foot. We tested the pad under different rugs and carpets and it always improved the comfort greatly in every case. We have many area rugs throughout the house, and getting this roll was the most logical. This will also be used for area rugs in throughout house including the basement and the double sided moisture barrier is one of the main reasons we selected it. The R value of 2 is small but along with the carpet will add to keeping our feet warmer in the basement. It also has 4 lb density so average support. Since the basement is concrete this is perfect as it is approved for concrete. Installation is just cut and place under the desired rug. I cut the padding with a pair of scissors, which was very easy. The roll is 45 foot by 6 foot wide for 270 sq feet. Most area rugs are less than 6 foot on at least one side so easy to cut single sections. Cut about 1 1/2 inches from the edges so the rug holds it down and there is minimal bump to reduce tripping. The half inch thickness is more than carpet requires but our area rugs are heavy and being foam it compressed so not to be raised. It seems great to us. We love the extra cushion, just amazing. I'm now being pressured to get the other rugs done. Should have done this along time ago.

Unfavorable - "spillsafe double-sided moisture barrier" - shielding split in places on unrolling and at edges

Nice, thick carpet padding with good rebound. It is lighter than the foam chunk stuff. It also cut cleaner and easier. The feel is quite good. It seems to return to it’s original shape well after Being compressed. I used it on a wood floor and it stapled down well. It can be installed with either side down, so you don’t have to pat attention to which side you have it on. Overall I am very pleased.

Although this may normally be used beneath wall to wall carpet I chose to use it under a large area rug in our den making it much more comfortable for sure. The pictures below sometimes show the padding as almost white but it's definitely light blue. I also used Ultra Grip Nonslip Rug Gripper Pad under this padding to keep it from slipping. Much more comfortable now and as it's usually when our dogs lie down they love it too!!

This 6' x 45' roll of carpet padding arrived wrapped in plastic sheeting and weighed about 50 lbs. The thickness is around 3/8". It is installed patterned side face up. I never knew what I was missing using a low-profile rug pad in the past! This padding is amazing and I have placed it under almost all of my carpeting and runners. When the floor is waxed, this pad will slide if not placed under any heavy furniture. For those areas, I used double-sided carpet tape to keep it in place. For my rugs, I have cut the pad about 2" shorter than the rug sits flat around the edges. I would definitely recommend this pad. The only difficulty I had was figuring the measurements I needed. I just can't believe how much my old feet appreciate the softness when walking on it!

Exactly what I was looking for. This is a non-traditional use, but it meets my requirements. I have all hard-surface floors with a lot of area rugs (almost every size imaginable). On their own they have very little cushion to them and pretty much need an underlay. I could shop around for all kinds of different sizes or order a large roll of this and cut to size for all my area rugs. My only concern was height, thinking it might produce a trip hazard. As it turns out not a problem, if this product is about 1.5 to 2 inches inside the edge of the area rug it allows the rug to sit directly on the hard surface and doesn't interfere whatsoever. The result is a nicely cushioned area rug. I was also mildly worried about it moving around, but this underlay actually stops a jute backed carpet from sliding around. In general, it's very similar to a yoga mat material. Perfect for what I need.

Future foam prime comfort 1/2 IN. Thick Premium carpet pad with spill safe. We chose this product for the ability to not have as much moisture lingering under the carpet when we go to have the carpets cleaned every 6 months. The product is more dense and has a 1/2 inch pile which provides plenty of comfort,very noticeable over the standard cheap foam that was used with our first carpet install. Installation was easy and lays down very flat, just needed an X-Acto knife and measuring tape and a extra set of hands to get the job done.

This padding is the comfiest padding for carpet. I have no wall to wall carpet but I have huge wool area rugs in almost every room. I put these under all of them. Walking on this under the carpet is a huge difference. We used carpet tape to hold multiple pieces together if needed. No complaints here and I would Buy again recommend To anyone who wants comfort and needs this item.

This was my first time doing a project like this and I will say that this carpet pad was super easy to work with. It cut easily where we needed to edge around corners and it feels really good to walk on. The double sided moisture barrier is great in a home with kids and pets. Easy to install and the thickness provides a pleasant luxurious feeling to the carpet.

No chemical odor! Smells of absolutely nothing which is great and appreciated. Cuts to size very easily, the grid pattern on the "up" side is quite uniform so makes trimming precisely quite easy. I cut to size with just regular scissors. Lays down easily, no curling. Appears to grip the carpet and floor well - no shifting or slipping. Feels very good under foot, better than that composite foam stuff. Time will tell if it tends to sort of expand (and show) as the foam stuff does, but I suspect not due to what appears to be a mesh manufactured into the waterproof layer. Thus far I have only used under a relatively small area rug (4'x6') but will use under an 8'x11' in the adjacent room within a week, and this roll will still probably have enough left for another area rug.

FUTURE FOAM Prime Comfort 1/2 in. Thick Premium Carpet Pad with SpillSafe Double Sided Moisture Barrier We were pleased with the tough as-shipped wrapping of this delivered Future Foam roll, but somewhat surprised with the size of the bundle at 6-feet long and 18-inches in diameter (see photo as delivered) it was really big. It was a bit heavy too, but I was able to roll it “on-end” into the house. Once unrolled, it measured over 44-feet in length. So at 6-feet wide, that’s the 270 square feet of floor it has the potential to pad. Unwrapping and unrolling was easy and the ½-inch thickness foam (see second photo) laid flat almost immediately. And with it laid down on a hard tile floor, we quickly noticed what I would deem as the “medium softness” of the foam which we were hoping for, not the swishy type foams we had encountered elsewhere. With the carpet rolled over the foam, the comfort level increased about 1,000 percent (see third photo). It truly delivered a most comfortable and actually luxurious walk, especially when barefoot.

Future Foam Prime Comfort pad- This is amazing stuff with both a moisture barrier and thermal insulation. At 1/2 inch thick it makes the floor feel wonderful. This roll is pretty big and will cover 270 square feet of flooring. Well worth the cost to have the moisture feature especially if children or pets are living in the home. The extra pieces will be saved here for insulation too!

In my area this is either ship to store or home delivery, at 6 ft long and weighing about 50 lbs I would go with the free shipping. This is great for padding your wall to wall carpeting, beware the warranty is only valid with professional installation. We have several area rugs that tend to slip and this padding was an ideal solution. The padding can be cut with scissors, making installation quick and easy. I wish they would have printed a grid pattern to make cutting straight lines easier and there should have been more "this side up" markings as they are placed too far apart. The padding has an R2 value and is a double sided moisture barrier. After installing under our area rugs they didn't slide and where more comfortable to walk on. The pad will of course raise the height of the carpet a bit so you have to get used to the additional height.

We needed to replace the original carpet when we purchased our home. It had thick padding under it and we didn't want to lower all of the baseboards. This padding was perfect! Not only does it add the necessary height we needed, it adds the moisture barrier under the carpet as well. No more stinky padding from trapped moisture after spills or accidents!

We are preparing to change the carpet in our living, dining and bedroom areas soon and this is the best padding with thermal insulation and moisture barriers on both sides that I have found locally. The padding will insulate the floors better since our home is constructed with a crawl space and the floors can get pretty cold in the winter. Hopefully, we can get the installation done as soon as the covid19 restrictions are lifted, probably by mid-summer.

Well worth the cost. Its like walking on shoe insoles. It absorbs the impact of each step which is helpful when you have body soreness.

Bought this pad with LifeProof carpet and wow is it nice. Super soft underfoot and it just feels dreamy.

This pad is thick and feels luxurious under my feet, so glad we went with it!

This pad felt great to start. We kept a piece to use for the occasional camping trip and also use a piece under our rug on hardwood floor. Well, we were changing our rug and decided to compare the two pieces. After only two years, there is no comparison. The one is still nice and firm where the other has almost NO loft or support anymore! Completely dissatisfied, particularly for the cost. I will be filing a claim soon.

We recently had HD's LifeProof carpet installed in our bedrooms and hallway and replaced the old style foam padding with this Prime Comfort padding. Since this padding offers moisture protection on both sides, it is a great option to stop the padding wicking moisture from the bare concrete floor into the carpet. Equally importantly it is comfortable to walk on and made our new carpet feel very luxurious. Our home was built in the 40s as a hunting cabin and the concrete pad was built long before they used heavy duty plastic sheeting as a moisture barrier. Consequently the concrete can become damp, particularly in a wet El Nino winter, so the ability to use a combined moisture barrier/padding is a huge plus for us. The padding itself seemed easy for the carpet installer to handle with very clean cuts with a sharp knife blade (with none of the 'tearing' you can get with traditional foam padding) and he stapled it to the concrete and vinyl tiles (which were the original flooring in parts of the house). Unlike the foam style padding we replaced, the Prime Comfort padding has a 'closed cell' type foam with a very consistent feel to it under foot. There is also some added peace of mind that the surface of the padding has a built in layer of Teflon to protect it if anything is spilled onto the carpet.

The pad was wonderful . Feel so soft to walk on.
