My Hori Hori of stainless steel For a great garden tool was a heck of a deal I use it to dig holes to put in new plants While perched on the ground on the seat of my pants Through the mulch and the topsoil and concrete- like clay For Arthritis and old age (75), I no longer pay. Whatever my strength is, as I work day to day Hori Hori’s the best tool in my too array

Great for getting the grass out from brick pathway.

Blade snapped in half after 6 hours of use, digging weeds, not trees, rocks or other embedded objects.

Pulls stubborn weeds, small trees with the hook. Scrapes soil level for laying pavers. Digs holes for planting. Saws small branches. Cuts twine. Digs out dandelions, other deep rooted weeds.

Brilliant at working the soil!

The hour-hori is, in my mind, the universal gardening tool. This is a good one -- the best I could find in Juneau after I lost my old one. As long as you don't lose it, it's a lifetime purchase.

The blade breaks easily

We used it during 5 days backpacking trip; it was a useful tool for multiple purposes (if you are a hiker you would know which :) )

Feels a little odd in the hand due to the tapered grip. Also, the knife broke the first time I tried to use it. Failed to lever out a soft plant root.

Poor quality for the price. It broke within the first half hour of use.

It worked well till it didn't. The first one I owned broke as I was trying to pop a small rock out of a planting hole. The second one broke as I was making a small hole in a clay/loam soil with no rocks. I really think the company should switch from a stainless steel blade to a mid range carbon steel like 1065. It's a digging tool so rust should not be any more of concern than it would be on a shovel.

It seemed strong. Powerful. I broke the metal in half today on some yarrow root. Perhaps I was being a bit too aggressive?
