I use this for way more than just paint thinning....
I use this for way more than just paint thinning. It is an excellent topcoat by itself for exterior plastics on vehicles (mud flaps, etc.) and my tractors look much better too. So far the coating applied with just a microfiber cloth has lasted over a year. Very impressed and keep a can handy at all times. I cleaned and detailed our elliptical machine and applied this to the newly cleaned surfaces and the device looks almost new. Much better than Armor All, etc. at restoring the faded and blotchy paint and plastics.

I originally purchased this to use on a rusted smudge...
I originally purchased this to use on a rusted smudge pot it protect it from further damage. It worked very well. I then used it on metal patio furniture that was beginning to wear and it turned out great. It does give a little sheen but I like that finish

I added Penetrol to Epifanes gloss varnish and applied the...
I added Penetrol to Epifanes gloss varnish and applied the mixture to teak, in the attempt to make the varnish flow better. When dry, the result: Opaque dark brown. I sanded off the result and returned the Penetrol to Home Depot for a refund. Boaters beware! Penetrol may work for paint, but ruined the finish for varnish.

I live in AZ and I was painting oil-base paint...
I live in AZ and I was painting oil-base paint at 95F. It was suggested I use this product to minimize rapid paint curing at these temperatures. So I would float a small amount of Penetrol on the top of the paint cup, roller pan, and paint can about once/hour and stir the top inch. Penetrol worked great in this application.
