Customer Reviews for Frigidaire 22.2 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator in Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel

I wanted to replace the fridge that came with the house. It was a standard depth, black French door. The doors never closed easily on it and it was huge. I wanted to save 2 inches so there was more space to walk by in front of the fridge and the island. This fridge fits the specs I wanted. Counter depth, stainless steel. It may have a little less capacity than the standard depth I was using. For example, the deli tray on a french door is the full width this is way smaller. That's is ok. I was probably stuffing everything in that big deli tray any way. (I still have the other fridge in the garage for overflow so it is not an issue for me.) I like the side-by-side freezer better. In a french door, things get lost in the bottom and you are just digging around searching. This type of fridge allows you to see the items better. The stainless steel is nice because it reflects light and makes the room brighter. It gets the standard dirt marks that any fridge will get. Less noticeable and easier to clean than black. One item that may bother someone is that the water in the dispenser is not chilled like my old fridge. I am not sure if it is because there is less space or something. But really what is the point of having an ice maker if you don't use the ice. We never did before because the water was chilled. I like the ice crusher. It cools the water just fine. Some people mentioned a humming sound, and I probably would not have noticed it if people had not said that. Yes, every once in awhile there is some super quiet hum or wind tunnel sound. Hardly noticeable and fridges make all sort of sounds any way - loud ice making sounds, water refilling etc. This is just a very quiet hum sometimes. I have had it for a month now and have had no problems.

I've had this Frigidaire for about 5 years. Ice maker stopped working after a year or two. A leak occurred at one point and filled my freezer with water, including the ice bin which has been a solid block of ice that I cannot remove from the freezer without unplugging the unit for hours... no thank you. Drawers in the freezer slip out of the grooves often enough that it's as if they're not wide enough, so: poor design. Refrigerator side is a bit better. I would advise shopping around.

A plastic disk attached to the metal auger in the ice cube dispenser broke apart. Plastic pieces were dispensed along with the ice. This is very dangerous for obvious reasons and I was lucky to notice the plastic before I swallowed my water.

The vegetable and fruit bins freeze everything you put in even on the lowest setting available. Within two months the handles are all scratched. There are several dents and scratches on the doors. Might be fingerprint proof but not scratch and dent resistant!! Nothing fits with the weird door things on the bottom. Shelves would have been better. Picture I provided shows frozen water on the side bin. Don’t have a clue why ice would form in a produce bin when there is no water present.

The fridge works well, but similar to other reviews of this fridge the face of the doors on mine looks like somebody repeatedly hit them with a baseball bat. The doors feel smooth to the tough but the stainless doors look extremely wavy. Would have bought another fridge if I knew this was the case but the store didn’t have it on display at the time I purchased it.

I bought this less than 2 months ago and have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS since. One of the door shelves cracked right in half within the first week. There was only three bottles on it at the time. ANYTIME YOU GET ICE IT GETS CLOGGED AND I MEAN EVERYTIME . You then have to fish your hand up a tiny hole to try and yank the ice that's stuck while more is piling up. Once you open the freezer door there will be a pile of ice that goes ALL OVER your kitchen and surrounding rooms. I have tried to call numerous times and the lines gets disconnected after I am told that "there are too many callers try back later". I never should have settles for this brand DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Please see the pictures for reference

If you want your refrigerator to look like it was hail damaged go with the Frigidaire collection. I got three and settled, my daughter does art work and we use pictures to hide the defects. Even the display models don’t have straight stainless finishes in any Frigidaire models. The product works good, you just can’t get a good looking product.

Definitely not “smudge proof”. Ice machine is finicky. Cubes frequently freeze together & block the dispensing mechanism. Lighting inside is good, sufficient space for everything we need but it is on the smaller side. Not suitable for large families or people who buy in bulk.

This Frigidaire Gallery (their premium brand) refrigerator looks good, but after only 9 months of use two by mature adults, it's falling apart. Both lower bins have broken where they slide into the frame and both frames have broken. On top of that, the unit will only dispense crushed ice, not cubes. And what does Frigidaires customer service have to say, "the internal parts have no warrant - but don worry, we will sell you replacement parts at a 20% discount totaling $249.00. I was so stunned, I forgot to mention the ice issue. Stay away from this product.

First fridge had a bad seal on the freezer door that caused moister to seep in and ice everything. The outside even looked out of shape. Paid for professional install as well. Called HD to address the issue and they sent out a crew to replace the entire fridge...after two hours of install the doors still look way out of square. Highly disappointed. I realy want this resolved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Refrigerator slides forward on wheels when I open the door. I need to us a foot or free arm to hold it back. Also, many ice cubes freeze together(on "flat" side) (see photo) which sometimes jams cube chute.

I brought this refrigerator because is good size for my kitchen.

I purchased the 'Gallery' now discontinued model FGHS2355PF5A from Home Depot in Jan 2016. Aug 2020 the compressor start relay/capacitor caught fire! Lucky someone was home to unplug before it spread. Overall the refrigerator is louder than others I have owned in the past. On my model, the ice cream shelf in front of the ice maker can push back too far blocking the ice tray from dispensing. Water into the ice maker tends to drip behind the freezer back panel, eventually building up near the condenser fan and blocking it (you will know this has happened after hearing loud screeching noise). I've had to fix this at least once a year - removing the back panel from inside the freezer compartment to pull out the chunk of ice build-up.

Awesome product! The water dispenser is a little tricky due to the lack of space to put large cups under it and dispense water directly into the cup, but other than that I love it! So much more shelf space than I thought it would have. We have had it for about 3 weeks and I cant say enough good things about it. Shiny and fingerprint resistant. Magnets stick to the front!

And it rolls like a dream to allow me to pick up something or clean behind it. I love the water and ice in the door. I keep my coffee maker right next to it so I can fill it with the filtered water. By the way, it’s got lots of space inside and it works great!

Great side by side. Counter depth so it fits nicely. Only complaint is w the ice and water dispenser. You can't read them without leaning very close bc they are not lit, so you have no idea whether you're pressing a button for water or ice, crushed or cubed. I guess you just have to get used to it. The fridge is laid out nicely and the freezer is plenty big, w not 1, but 2 pull out drawers on the bottom. I noticed that nearly all i looked at only had one. This really helps w organization of frozen stuff. All in all, it's a great fridge, esp for the money. It's beautiful too.

COMPRESSOR FAILED after three years. NO Service person will fix it 'We can't fix it'. SAD.

Works as advertised. Removing the plastic covering was quite a task as the plastic attaches deep into the nooks and crannies between the doors and the rubber insulation. I had to take the handles off to remove the plastic underneath them. Anyway, once that was accomplished, no problems. One surprise: the Chill Drawer (in the refrigerator section, not the freezer) started to freeze the fish we stored there. Then we discovered the slider adjustment on the left wall inside the refrigerator. Adjusting that slider (to about halfway) alleviated the issue. We are pleased with our purchase. The control panel on the outside is very helpful and very unobtrusive. We liked the refrigerator so much that we bought the range (see picture) as well. Another excellent purchase.

I bought the Frigidaire Gallery FGSC2335T 6 weeks ago after shopping for the right fridge for several years. I loved my old refrigerator but it was 13 years old and the wrong color in my remodeled kitchen. I didn't expect it but I love this one more. Storage is well-organized so it held everything in 22 cu ft that my old 26 cu ft one did. The Gallery line has better shelving and door storage than the regular Frigidaires. The counter depth and concealed top hinges look more customized and the gray sides blend with the stainless steel. Unlike other reviewers, I haven't heard any noises (except dropping ice cubes). My thanks to the reviewer who pointed out the advantages of the transferable 5-year protection plan for $195. It includes a preventive maintenance reimbursement for water filters (50% of each $50 filter you buy - limit $500). You can easily recover more than the cost of the plan without ever needing repairs. I tested the reimbursement process before I wrote the review by immediately purchasing a replacement filter to have on hand (must buy from Home Depot). I got a check in the mail within 10 days of submitting the claim (you phone for a claim number then submit it with the receipt). Very easy and efficient. The sale price was great and the delivery was flawless.
