While it looks nice, I am used to the ‘wash ‘ the LG gives. I prefer the LG. I had ‘originally’ ordered the LG set, but had such an issue with the delivery company I ended up canceling the whole order. Went back online to order them after speaking to Corporate and missed the whole ‘rebate’ window. So ended up ordering these instead. I’d also like to add that the tub is really too deep in this one. I am 5’6” and have to get up on the tip of my toes to empty it. Not very well thought out design.

Couldn’t be any happier. My GE Harmony finally died after 20 years of hard work. Found this to be very easy to operate. Like I said it’s quiet, quick, and quality I trust. Very easy to operate and load. You know what they say, happy wife happy life.

Amazing machine! We are in love with it. Wifi app will remind you to take out your load which comes handy when multitasking. The app also will give you stats if you are into it.

The biggest reason we bought this washer was to make use of the SmartDispense feature. I must say- we LOVE it. It makes laundry so easy and saves time by not waiting for the soap cap to fill up! The ease of throwing a load in and pressing a button is a lifesaver with a busy family life. The water station has also saved us more than once. No more rinsing blowout onesies in the bathtub :) I love checking the time left on the app and through our Google smart devices. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

My wife and I are In love with our new washer and dryer. And our old ones were the same brand! It’s nice to finally update and stay true to the brand!

I have only ever had cheap washers with 3 or so basic operating functions. And I decided to treat myself to something special, and went for the one with features I would use. And I will NEVER know how I EVER lived without the bells and whistles!! Sure, they were a lot of money, but they looked and felt like quality machines so I took them home! We have 3 kids, two teens and a tween, and we have mega laundry. So I wanted a huge capacity washer and dryer. GE does not disappoint!! I am 5’6 female and I can barely touch the bottom of the washer drum! It’s epically HUGE!! I love it! Inside is stainless steel, and that is important to the quality not only of the craftsmanship, but it’s ease of cleaning(I.e. no soap scum build up and hard water won’t corrode it as much as plastic). I also like that it has a drain and spin function! My old washers only ever has RINSE and spin, but if the items, like big blankets and coats, are not dry enough, I can set them back on just spin! I love the automatic soap dispenser! It actually auto adds the right amount of soap for the load size. Not only that, they went an extra step and made it so I can choose the amount of soap too! Now THAT’s an extra, and I love it! I could really go on and on about the set, but I bore you, I’m sure! Bottom line, I feel SO SPOILED with this GE washer and dryer, that I actually ENJOY doing the laundry! It’s such a breeze!! Not to mention the HELPFULNESS OF THE WIFI!!! I can text my kids when the washer and dryer are done so we can get more loads done in a shorter amount of time, but I can also track what days we are doing the most laundry on so I can set up the sprinkler system and water softener to NOT go on during those peek hours!! How did I ever live without all the features?!! I love you GE! Keep up the great work!

GE should rename this washer to "White Knight" because it's like a knight in shinning armor to me! This washer cleans powerfully and it's quiet. It's a big guy with a deep tub and easily takes on large loads. I LOVE my new GE Washing Machine Model GTW840CSNWS!

Fell in love with this appliance once I set my eyes on it. Love the look shape and features. After talking with the salesman , I knew immediately it would replace the bulky loud washer I had. Had it now for 21/2 weeks and it has not disappoint. Waiting patiently to buy my GE refrigerator. Thanks GE.

This washer is super efficient and really quiet. It holds so much laundry and washes great. The smart fill detergent tank is incredible.

Great washer. It hold 3-4 loads. It has reduce my laundry time. I had to replace my front load and had to go to a top load due to my mother’s physical capabilities and it has been a wonderful decision.

Washer works well-auto soap dispenser is awesome and love the WiFi. Clothes are nearly dry from spinning saves time and money on drying. I wish the app was more updated. The tub is extra large which makes socks hard to reach but worth it anyway with the capacity of clothes it washes

Delivered and installed 29 Jan 2020. As of 24 Feb 2020, I'd say its a great machine and the additional options are worth it. After looking at several models and brands we decided that a washer with an agitator was the best option for getting clothes really clean. Several competitor models do not offer a warm rinse option or multiple extra water level fill options. These are a must if clean clothes is the goal! The detergent reservoir has saved us some time and space. The washer is surprisingly quiet too!

The quick load option is the best. 20 minutes and ur done !! Lot less work for dryer!! It cleans awesome !! Wifi option is great. Who ever says they dont need that is crazy!! You will never forget to put ur clothes in the dryer again ! Many options . U can basically make ur own wash cycle and save it .. Not super quite but most of them are the same . Depending upon what room they are in !! Waited a month for this machine and it was so worth it my water and electric bill will be lower cause of this machine . I can hardly reach the bottom of tub cause its so big!!!!!

I love my new GE washer and dryer. The clothes come out clean and smell good. The only downside for the washer is it is very deep and I have to stretch really hard to get that lone sock. That being said I will still purchase this same set again. I love the color, I have always had white and was worried I wouldn't like the gray but it looks better than white.

I really really really want to love this. But the dang thing won't balance, so all of my laundry is soaking wet EVERY SINGLE LOAD. I'm only 5' 4" so getting to the bottom of this thing for heavy wet blankets or jeans is an absolute disaster. Everything else is great. Wi-Fi works perfectly. Auto dispense is great. It's energy and time efficient until I have to run another drain & spin cycle.

GE Washer and dryer delivered and set up. Washer powered up, but would not cycle. Called GE and a technician was out the following day and turned out to be a loose connector at back of the control unit. Re-connected and works perfectly. Kudos to GE and the tech (Craig) for getting out so quickly. Good job! Washer and dryer are both efficient and easy to use.

This washer is new and has only been used about 6 times. Extremely quiet, is absolutely large enough for washing larger size load and or blankets. Has multiple setting which are easily changed. Goes perfectly with its companion dryer!

The wife like it that is all that counts and it is big washes cloths clean

Home Depot's process for delivery and installation was exemplary. We knew the status of the delivery and every step along the way. Installation of the new washer and disposing of the older washer was fast and seamless. Installation team was friendly. We do not understand why there are complains about unbalance spin cycle, stain clothes, or wet clothes. We have washed over 50 loads of various types of clothes, comforters, sheets, blankets, winter coats, towels and even rugs at different capacities from very little clothes to almost 4/5 of the drum. The 5.2 capacity is rather large and we separate whites,colors and dark clothes to avoid color bleeding (laundry 101) so we never got any load full to the brim of the drum. We had none of the issues of unbalance spin, wet or stain clothes. Just put the load into the washer and spread them out evenly. If the material is fluffy, just use the "Deep Fill" option. Very easy to use and intuitive washer controls. We love this unit. Clothes come out very clean and fresh as opposed to our old Kenmore front loader. Washing is so much faster with this washer and we get through loads for the week very fast. With this unit, Active Wear cycle is 35 minutes and Colors cycle is 38 minutes as opposed to the Kenmore at 45 minutes for Normal cycle, but the 45 minutes on the Kenmore is more then 45 pending the extra spins probably due to the wetness of the clothes. Washing all of our bathrooms rugs is pretty much noise free with this top loader as opposed to our previous front loader where we can hear the up and down dropping of rugs onto the bottom of the drum. The notification on the mobile app is awesome. We get the notification and just put in another load. The mobile app notification and reminder really shorten the time during our weekend and mid-week wash day. We are very happy and glad that we got this washer. Wish we would have switch to this washer sooner.

I am so dissapointed because i really like the machine and the smart dispense feature however, a few dislikes that are pretty serious to me, first of all, the machine never even spins after the wash cycle so your clothes that are sopping wet with soap residue just sit there, after draining wash water it just fills right up with water and agitates for not even 60 seconds before it drains again and goes into final spin, ive tried all other cycles and they all do the same, even if i select extra rinse and warm rinse it just adds another drain and fill phase witho no spin in between, which brings me to my next gripe with this machine is it gets off balance so easy then it wants to add water agitate and try again making the cycle even longer, (so much for saving water) and the spin cycle is very loud and the machine vibrates (yes my machine is perfectly level and on concrete) i should note that i had the gtw860 before this and i worked great, was quiet and spun between wash and rinse, why GE would discontinue the gtw860 to make this gtw840 is beyond me, a product is supposed to get better not worse. I am seriously thinking about returning the set back to the store and go with a korian brand

The washing machine, like most, was a very easy install. Just need to attached the drain hose, attach the two water supply lines, and plug it in. Right away it powers up, opening the lid causes the LED control panel to power up. This washing machine is loaded with features, and requires a little reading to take advantage of all the capabilities. It comes with a handy quick start guide for getting the laundry going right away. Just turned off the Smart Dispensing system, and set the cycle to towels, and we were off and running. The machine was really nice and quiet, the load ran for about an hour.

GE Top Load Washing Machine is a dream! Thanks to the folks at GE for being so innovative when it comes to household chores. The smart dispense feature takes the guess work out of how much detergent you should really use in a load and not spilling it or trying to see the fill line in the cap. It holds 75 ounces of liquid detergent. It is easy to use with a digital read screen, large capacity loads and wi-fi connected. Great energy star rating is a plus.

GE's 5.2 c.f. HE Washing Machine is a large capacity washer that's big enough to clean king-sized comforters and bedspreads. It's truly a super capacity washing machine. As you can see in the pictures, the tub is very deep and will easily accommodate bulky items. I love it so much. The extra features are amazing and they're smartly based on common sense needs, such as storage of liquid laundry detergent. There are multiple cycle choices for items based on fabric care, water temperature, soil level, and whether you want an extra rinse or extra water added to deeply fill the tub. I love how well it cleans clothes. It spins all the water out nicely and thoroughly. The machine is so well-built, and quite solidly provides an upper level performance. The motor is quiet and smooth running. It comes with new hot and cold hoses, as well as a new drain hose. This is an absolutely gorgeous washing machine in bright white. It's so awesome in every single way.

This is a really nice top-loading washing machine. It is Energy Star rated and has a number of great features. The "Water Station" lets you use the washer like a utility sink so you can pre-rinse items right in the washer before washing. The auto soap dispenser holds up to 72 ounces of detergent and dispenses the correct amount based on load size and cycle selected. The tub is HUGE - 5 cubic feet so it can handle some very large loads and things like washable blankets and bedspreads that won't usually fit in a home washer. The spin cycle gets the wash quite a bit dryer than the front-loader that this washer replaced, so there's less drying time needed with this washer. There are only a couple small negatives for us - the tub is so deep that my 5 foot 6 inch wife has to stand on her tiptoes to reach down to the last couple socks at the bottom of the tub. Also there are only a couple wash settings that have a cold wash cycle, most are warm or hot. We wish there were a couple more options for cold water washes. Overall this is an excellent washer.

This is a fantastic washing machine that meets all sorts of criteria that I like: I do prefer a top load, as I don't like the fact that with many front load machines you have to leave the door open and it sticks into the room. I also like the "old fashioned" agitator... my previous machine didn't have one and I didn't feel it got the clothes as clean. It's a very pretty looking machine, which is important to me because my laundry room is an area that people walk through to get to my half bathroom. The washer has enough features to be feature-rich (many settings for doing your clothes), yet is not so feature-rich that it's confusing or redundant. Something that is both a pro and a con (mostly a pro) is that the capacity of this washer is HUGE! You can fit a LOT of clothes in there, and while I haven't done it yet, I'm confident I will be able to fit my king sized comforter in there easily. The only tiny bit of a con about it having such large capacity is that I'm short... at 5'2", I need to use a small stepstool to reach all the way into the bottom of the machine to remove small items such as socks and underwear. Overall, I'm very happy with this machine. I'm thinking that if you'd asked me several months from now, I'd give it five stars. As of today, I'm giving it four because getting the wifi set up with the app was an ordeal that involved both emailing and phoning GE, etc. It was resolved and we are able to use the wifi features now (which are pretty cool... you're able to see how much time is left, and get a notification when it's done), but it shouldn't have been so difficult. Also, note that if you have more than one family member/roomate who wants to be able to use the wifi features, you all have to use the same login... if a second person creates an account and links up to the machine, it automatically deletes the other person who was already synced to it.
