Awesome best smoke and carbon detector I have ever bought

These are easy to setup. Installation is also very easy. You don't need to drill any hole. The screws provided are self drilling. You would need the nest app to complete the setup. There was a pathway light feature which gets turned on when it's dark and if you it detect motion. Nice feature but I turned it off to save battery since the unit I picked was the batter one. One thing to be noted is the manufacturing date written behind the unit. They don't put the date on the box. If the date is few months old then you won't get the 10 years battery life. Mine was a fresh piece. Only downside I feel is the price which is high compared to a regular smoke + CO detector.

After 3 years it started beeping at me like an old smoke detector from 1980. There is a sensor error message but no option to muted from the app! I tried to clean it with a pressurized air spray with no success. I have 12 nest detectors and I will replace them all!

The best smoke and carbon monoxide sensor on the market. Expensive, but worth the price - my previous units went off after a power failure and could not be silenced. The ability to silence these units from my phone is a big plus. Also love that it alerts my phone anytime an alarm is triggered even if I am away. Very easy to install - I would imagine that the average Home Depot shopper would have the skills. There are a lot of on line videos that detail the process. I would unreservedly recommend these to anyone in need of new smoke detectors.

I can't review this product as I didn't even install it. I'm not spending this kind of money only to get a unit that has almost half its life depleted. I can't really blame Home Depot for this as the expiration date isn't stated on the packaging. I will be returning it in the morning.

The entire Nest suite is fantastic. The Nest Protect is effective detecting even low levels of smoke. The Nest app shows you daily test results. Highly recommended.

love the smart integrations that will turn off the heating system if smoke or co is detected. It actually kicked in once when I was messing around with my boilers venting system and tuning (Don't worry I'm a pro). It'd be nice if they made one for outdoor conditions. I'd like to monitor my attic and garage.

I love the Nest/Google sensors! This is my seventh one that I put into my home. Very easy to install if you already have a wired one (as this is what this new one is to replace), you will only need to hook up the black and white wires the red one is just capped, and please be sure you have the power off of course. Software so easy to install and use. It actually speaks to you if it sounds the alarm and tells you where and is wrong. The nightlight feature is great-turns on when it senses motion.

Installation was easy; it only took a few minutes, and we tested it right away. This is my second Nest product (also have Nest Thermostat), and they work together beautifully. Would definitely recommend.

Have nest smoke alarms all over my home and love the peace of mind. Pathway lights are awesome and notification alerts give you control over a smokey situation. A great alternative to a home security monitoring service especially when you add cameras to the mix.

Great product. Can monitor from phone.

The product was very east to install. The mounting bracket comes with every mounting hole standard I've seen, with a couple I haven't. I was surprised how helpful the motion sensor night light helps in my hallway. I don't need to walk around with my blinding phone flashlight on when going to bed. I cannot vouch for the the performance during a detection, but I also hope I never do.

The Nest wired smoke and carbon monoxide detector is an easy device to install. It comes neatly packaged with instructions that provides an easy to understand step-by-step approach to mounting, connecting wires and initial setup. Overall it took me about 15 minutes (includes me removing old smoke detector and mount) to fully install the device and put a smile on my wife’s face. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking to replace their old smoke detector with not just another smoke detector but with one that also detects carbon monoxide.

Super simple to set-up and configure with clear minimal user-centered design at its heart. This is why we love our nest products and welcomed them into our home, it just feels right because it works the way it should. Good technology is not just the product's features, it's how you interact with it. If it is working properly it just blends into our daily lives... transparently. In fact, it worked so well it set a new industry standard in design and user experience that other manufacturers are just now starting to catch up to.

The Nest combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector alarm is a solid piece of technology. The remote phone alerts and check In ability provide great piece of mind. Bought one to evaluate. Now getting 3 more. They need to offer a companion water / leak detector with the same quality and features.

We bought this product mainly for the safety of the family. I didn’t know that something so vital as a carbon monoxide detector can look aesthetically pleasing at the same time protecting the family.

Fantastic product. Very sophisticated, but still very easy to set up, use and monitor. I’m impressed. I just ordered two more to compliment the house. A little pricey when compared to the other cheap junky smoke detectors on the market, but you get what you pay for - and this unit is worth every penny. Reminds me of Apple iPhones and iPads - a very sophisticated product and well thought-out in the design, but still user friendly. You do need a smart-phone (any brand smart-phone) to set up the detector(s) and then monitor everything on-line (if you want to). Wish I bought these a long time ago and not wasted money replacing my old smoke alarms last year. I truly sleep better at night knowing the Nest Protect is “monitoring “ my house and family.

After a nightmare night of our existing smoke detectors going off for no reason, and the fact that they're original to the home (read: expired), I decided to try installing one Nest Protect myself to see if I could eventually install a set. It was dead-simple using Nest's instructions and their YouTube installation video. Packaging, instructions, design, and ease of installation were excellent. And some typically innovative Nest features were unexpectedly great — voice alerts, self-checks, and path lighting.

I already owned two Nest thermostats, so the Nest smoke detector was the next logical purchase. They are far superior than an ordinary smoke detector. It took me about 3 hours to install and set up 6 of these units. That was start to finish, including cleanup and putting supplies away.
