Great Product but the machine and rental service not so much. Read and learn how NOT to get STICHES!
Hi, i purchased 47 bags to do my attic. The product is great and laid down very quickly and easily. The job only took 3 hours to complete. The machine rental we got for free from Home Depot was extremely beatup. It didnt come with the rings to hold the hoses on but with duct tape it wasnt much of an issue. It never clogged. Due to the condition of the machine, when i removed it from my SUV the was a metal burr right where you grab the machine to pick it up. Not seeing that burr it ripped through my finger like a hot knife through butter. It cut so deep i could see my finger bone and it bled for 9 hours. I finally got it to stop (thank you superglue). I have to go get it stitched up. I fixed the burr with a 5lb hammer and looked it over for others. I dont want anyone else to get cut like this. When i returned the machine i told the guy behind the counter and his response was “oh okay… sorry bout that”. This ticks me off as he didnt care. I told him i fixed the issue and that they need to check their equipment over for things like this. His response was “yeah your probably right.” Really? This kind of disreguard for their equipment and even less for the well being of the customer is beyond me. No i have no idea what would make this right but they didnt even try. So beware of the equipment and check it over and avoid having to get stitches. Hope this helps. The machine was for the Cellulose insulation not the Attic Cat machine.

Thank you for your feedback on SANCTUARY and the installation process. But we’re sorry to hear of your experience with the blower machine.
The stores have a protocol to follow in getting machines repaired, and we want to make sure this is addressed. Could you please provide more information regarding where you purchased the product so we can reach out to the store and start the repair process? You can call our support team at 1-800-228-0024. Thank you again for making us aware of this situation.

Worked fantastic! The machine worked well - only clogged twice in 20 bags blown in. Clog works self out when you stop feeding for couple minutes. Blows it out airy and fluffy like you expect. 100 foot hose is a lot! Very happy.

We had existing insulation in most areas in our roof, but absolutely no insulation over one of our bedrooms and garage. We used to feel heat and cold from all over the home when you raised your had up toward our ceiling. Just couldn’t keep the home cool or keep heat inside our home. This last Artic blast caused our electric/heating bill to be over our usual bill expenses it was way over $300. We had to make changes. Blowing the Greenfiber cellulose in our roof has allowed for our air conditioner to stop running constantly this summer. I can’t wait to see what the furnace will do this winter 2023-2024.

Dusty, hard work but effective
Installed 60 bags into our dusty, tight hot attics. Lessons: (1) Work when cool and cloudy. (2) Big green square machine heavy and old but worked perfectly. (3) Recommend product delivery. (4) 1-2 plastic pieces per bag and small. (5) Dusty! (6) 8-10” on top of current 6”: home noticeably cooler. (7) 12” over garage which had none prior - VERY nice in garage now. (8) Cut 4” holes and blew in some garage walls- worked well! (7) OVERALL: hard, dusty but strangely satisfying work.

Mixed feelings
I decided to go with cellulose after much research and videos. I have a split level house so 2 attics. They are each about 850-1,000 sq ft. I bought and installed baffles for blow in insulation. I got 50 bags of these and only got about 13 inches of thickness. The machine was the main issue for us. It was loud and clogged a lot on the first evening. We started again early the next morning and after about 2 hours the squealing stopped and it worked much better. It took much longer than expected.

Extremely Satisfied!
After receiving some VERY pricey estimates, I chose to do it myself with a friend. We blew 30 bags into 1200 sq. Ft attic in 5 hours. Immediately noticed results. As long as your not afraid of doing the work for a few hours, you’ll really love the amount of money you’ll save by doing it yourself!

Beware of the non-cellulose material
I purchased these in February for a sidewall retrofit to blow into 1"holes. it was nice to get the pallets delivered to the house. If i hadn't already rented the blower a week ago, id have returned them. Lots of plastic debris. Who ever was working the hopper would pass the boredom pulling out debris. In addition to lots of plastic bag pieces, there were pieces of fabric, yarn, latex gloves, candy wrappers, disposable diapers, aluminum, metal, and a silk flower. So wear eye protection!

Immediate difference
Mostly I was concerned with how the blower would perform and it exceeded expectations. Sprayed 18 bags in under 2 hours. Also the air didn't turn on till 4 in the afternoon the first day and maintained 69 degrees with ease. It's early, but very pleased thus far!

First, the loose fill insulation product is just fine, I'd buy it again, no problem. HOWEVER!!!!! The shipping was absolutely unacceptable! Two 25lb bags, which could have been stuffed into two cardboard boxes and send via UPS, came instead on a wood pallet, heavily wrapped in plastic, delivered by a heavy truck, requiring a signature. Com'on Home Depot - this is the only planet we've got, how much energy and materials are you going to use!! There are a lot of products that HD won't ship to home. If you're going to warm the planet by a degree every time some DIYer buys a couple bags of recycled newspaper, then add this product to the 'Do not Ship' list!

Easy to install, really dusty
We blew-in 99 bags with our 24-hour rental--putting 1 bag into the hopper every 4-5 min with 3 people. Only fill to the grate because it needs the air to fluff up. Remove plastic as you fill, but stop every 25 bags to get plastic off the mixer paddles.

Prep in advance and install in little time
The installation went very smoothly. I took us less than 3 hours to blow-in 30 bags. I repositioned within the attic between each bag was being fed while my ground support was opening the next bag. Start from the furthest corner from where the hose enters the attic and work towards where the hose enters the attic. I believe we were well prepared ahead of time (before the actual installation started):
.. sealed the scuttle-hole with a 6mil plastic wall around it
.. snaked the 50 foot hose through a soffit to make sure we could reach everywhere. NOTE: THE HD WEBSITE SAYS TWO 50' HOSES, BUT THE NORTH KINGSTOWN STORE ONLY HAS ONE.
.. Protected the machine from rain and weather
.. Wore ski-mask like safety goggles and a respirator mask: enabled me to breathe easily and see well. Also wore an LED headlamp.
.. communicated to my guy on the ground who was feeding the machine with wireless headphones over our cell phones (START/STOP)
The machine is not light. Two strong guys can get it into the back of a pick-up truck. Wish we were a little stronger, but got it up there!

Mine arrived smelling like diesel fuel, and still smell almost a month later.
While this is likely a good product, mine arrived smelling strongly of diesel fuel. At some point in their production, storage, or transportation I think they must have been exposed to a fine mist that was deeply absorbed into the fibers. I had hoped the smell would eventually dissipate, but it is now nearly a month later and they still stink despite having been kept in a well ventilated area. I am definitely not going to blow this stuff into my walls and then have my place smell like a gas station forever more, so I am stuck with this huge pile of (so far) useless bails.

Easy to use IF the blower is available and in good shape. This latter is a huge problem in the Pensacola area (perhaps everywhere; I can only evaluate here.)
Home Depot on 9 Mile is the only store in the area where the machine can be scheduled and works.

Great for attics.
This is one of the most cost effective ways to insulate an attic. I have done a few of them now. I would NOT use it in walls. I did that as well and had no real noticeable heat transfer reduction. 3.5" of the stuff inside of a wall is not enough to equal real insulation. The other tip I can give is to buy a cheap zip up white suite, gloves, N95 mask, shoe covers, if the suit doesn't include them, and goggles. You will be covered in this when you are done and it gets everywhere.

The product seems fine, but the machine was awful
No issues with the insulation itself. The blower was terrible. It couldn't push up 2 stories, so had to bring the machine inside and turn my house into a dust bowl. It spent about 25% of the time blowing nothing, 50% of the time just pouring out the end of the hose, and 25% of the time actually blowing, but with not much material blown out. It took 6 hours to blow 40 bags. I'll have to repeat because of projects that will end up requiring a top up, but I'll rent the blower elsewhere.

Blow in machine horror
The material is great, it's fun to install, until the horrible machine you get to use for free dies. Should have been a two hour job. Took the entire day. Still have 5 bags to install. The two machines at my local store both broke, drove 40 minutes too get the only other blower in my area. It lasted through about 13 bags before it started over heating and blowing my breaker. I had enough at this point, and returned this machine without finishing the job. I only have sooo much energy and patience.

Light weight and easy to handle. Love the R factor. Depends on how deep you put it in. Price range is reasonable.
