Sadly, the quality of this product doesn't match what you would expect for the cost. While this is better than the natural pine barn wood product by Boise Cascade, there are better ways to achieve the look of white washed barn siding at a much lower price point. The nominal size of these boards is closer to what a rough sawn barn wood board should be, coming in at 7/8" thick x 3-7/8" wide. If this is the only option you have to do a project based on tools, time, or ability, then you may find these boards suitable, but for any handy person who enjoys a good craft, I would steer clear of these.

The Boise Cascade Irving 1 inch x 4 inch x 8 foot white washed barn wood pine board is really great for new construction or remodel jobs. This wood is very dry and has minimum bowing and warping. The edges are milled very well would work well for door framing or making a feature wall. The rough finish is eye catching and the white wash on both sides really makes it functional. I definitely recommend it for it's quality and rustic appeal.

I needed lumber that had the look of being reclaimed but was more consistent for my faux wall in the living room. This lumber had consistent coloring with natural imperfections and text that gave me the look I needed. Some of the pieces had the rough sawn feel while others were smooth. The color was close enough but still different for variety. The boards were straight and sizing was accurate.

These rough cut boards have many uses. They can be used as shiplap on the walls, trim work to give you that rustic look, or what we used them for, shelving. The color was what is called whitewash effect. The 1x4's are sturdy. This is a good grade for shelving by just anchoring the braces at the right spot. Our wood did have knots that were knocked out but over all a good product that has many uses.

These boards can be used for any number of projects in the home. These particular boards are 1 inch thick, 8 inches wide and 8 feet long. but you can purchase the same boards in 6-foot lengths, or you can purchase these boards in 4-inch widths. In addition, the boards come in three different colors -- driftwood brown, white wash, and weathered grey (like these particular boards). I ordered one box of these 1" x 8" x 8' boards. The box contains three boards. I also ordered one box of the 1" x 8" x 8' white wash boards, one box of the 1" x 4" x 8' white wash boards, one box of the 1" x 8" x 8' white wash boards, and one box of the 1" x 8" x 6' weathered grey boards. Each box of the 8" wide boards contains three boards, and the box of 4" boards contains six boards. My husband (with my invaluable guidance) used all of the boards to construct a headboard, which is shown in one of the photos. As you can see, there is quite a bit of color variation among the boards, even among those that are nominally the same color. I think the color variation produces a nice look, but if you are looking for uniformity of color, you will be disappointed. You should also be aware that the boards are not uniformly shaped, which is why you will see some gaps between the boards in the constructed headboard. This does not bother me because I think the gaps contribute to the rustic look. If this look is not what you want, you will also be disappointed. I should also note that there is even some variation in the thickness of the boards. Again, I like this look, but you may not. The headboard shown in the photo is 6 feet tall and about 90 inches wide, which is more than wide enough for a king size bed. The boards are screwed into five horizontal 2" x 4" x 87" pieces of lumber, which are themselves screwed into the wall. The construction took my husband about 1-1/2 days, but he is 73 years old and not as fast as he used to be. I think the final product looks great, and I am very pleased with these boards.

While having the wood already stained seems like a nice feature, you will have to try matching the finish on any exposed areas cut to size. The rough sawn boards give a rustic feel to the project, but they will leave gaps in any butt joints. My mantle came out satisfactorily, but if I had to do it again I would find a lumber yard that carried rough sawn boards and pick them out and stain them myself. These boards measured as follows: 15/16" thick, 7- 5/8" to 7-11/16" wide, and 8' long. One of the boards had a bow and slight twist to it. The stain was spotty in some areas, but I guess that adds to the rustic feel.

The boards comes with no tongue and groove or shiplap. The edges are not planed straight. They are rough sawn on all sides. There are plenty of knots in the boards. There was no twists or bows in the wood. They are solid wood with some knots in them. This product would be great for around a fireplace chimney or accent wall or even a focal point in a room. Comes in two lengths sizes and mix them together might help in the number of cuts needed. The white wash doesn't go all the way through the wood so don't do any planing to them. Great old barn board look.

These look like real barnboard for sure. The surface of the boards is highly textured with skip plane marks, big knots and deep graining. These are far from smooth or perfect and actually the photo online I think can be a bit misleading because I dont think it captures the true texture in the boards, these look more like REAL barnwood. The boards are very straight and flat and good quality in that manner but a couple edges were knicked up with missing stain in small random spots, the knicks add to the texture so not noticeable, but expect to touch up the stain.

I can recommend these boards for 'around the house' projects. I got three to do some accent framing on a basement wall. I like that the boards were NOT warped, cupped, or twisted. They laid flat on the concrete floor. The damage (see pictures) parts of the boards will NOT be an issue for my project (but be aware that some boards may arrive with split ends, gouges in the wood and on the edges (see pictures). One board's long-side edges were NOT consistently parallel so I could NOT butt two boards evenly, side by side.

Gave it an average rating because the boards were typical of any 'good' board available from most retailers. I would have rated them higher is I was going to use them for storage/display shelves. I intended to use them to do cabinet work and would have wanted better quality (got these via internet). That being said I DID LIKE that all three boards were NOT warping, cupping or twisting. They laid flat and did not wobble when different edges were manipulated. Two of the boards could NOT be laid edge to edge (for cabinet building) because they would NOT run parallel to one another (they would need to be ripped on a table saw to 'true up'. The pictures show two of the boards with very rough/damaged edges and a split end. I did NOT see these as flaws as they would add 'character' to my project. Some folks may not like those aspects of the boards and see them as bigger issues.

BOISE CASCADE IRVING 1 IN. X 4 IN. X 6 FT. BARN WOOD PINE BOARD WHITE WASH (6 PER BOX) These are solid decorative boards. The the 1 x 4s are each unique and have a lot of personality. These boards can be used for an accent wall or could be used for a furniture piece. Similar boards are a shiplap style and when you are building. These are structurally sound and sturdy.

Ordered a combination of grey and white boards in varying widths (8" and 4") and varying lengths (8' and 6') to make a custom sized interior barn door for a bedroom. The wood was shipped right to my house in boxes and was exactly what I was looking for. The rough sawn and weathered paint look of the boards made for a very authentic rustic barn door.
