It did what I needed it for. People lived in the house before threw eggs on the wall. I tried the 123 primer and still seen it. So I went to the store and was recommended Kilz premium and it hid the eggs. Very good product...

I used this to cover up the color perfectly and then applied my paint. What a difference it made. One coat of paint and a brand new white walled kitchen to look modern. Thanks Kilz! I was very pleased! I kept reading there was nothing to be done, but peel all paper off. NOT true! so easy & works well. less work, my time is important!

One coat of Kilz 3 primer and a coat of white paint had it looking like a completely different space. Even covered a brick fireplace in one coat. Highly recommend this product for anyone who needs to cover up dark ugly colors. What a breeze

I purchased 1 gallon from home depot on 9-10 worked great and I was so impressed with 1coat I decided to repaint the entire house not just the living room. Purchased a 5 gallon container on 9-16 from the exact same home depot an entire day spent priming and 3 coats later it's still not able to cover a light yellow. The gallon container covered the exact same color with 1 coat. I wasted money by purchasing the 5 gallon container.

Two coats, a days worth of painting and I literally am so upset! I spent good money on this product that was recommended for my basement project. Only to find out I wasted both my time and money!

This product is marketed as a heavy duty latex primer for sealing medium to heavy stains, and it was recommended by the Home Depot paint associate to me as being as effective as the original oil based Kilz. It is not even close to doing what it says on the label - after multiple coats it totally fails to block brown tannin stains. I originally purchased two 5 gallon buckets to prime the exposed wood beams and ceilings in my house. The wood is cedar, and since it had never been painted, I wanted to make sure to seal the tannins to prevent them bleeding through the finish paint. The first coat of Kilz Premium went on and looked great initially, but about twenty minutes later, the brown stains began to bleed through all over. The product instructions say to apply a test spot of the finish paint on the dried primer to test if the stain in the primer bleed through the paint, and the stains bled through nearly instantly. I went back to Home Depot, and the paint associate suggested I let the Kilz Premium dry for a couple days and then apply a second coat. I bought two more 5 gallon buckets of this Kilz Premium and painted all the beams and ceilings again. Again it failed to do what the product is advertised to do. The photos are of the tannin bleeding through after the second coat had dried for two full days. The experience with this product is tremendously disappointing, given how well the original oil based product used to work. I'm now $400 into this Kilz Premium 3 product, with a totally unacceptable result, uncertain what to do next and wishing I had just stuck with the original Kilz oil based that actually works. Planning to escalate this complaint with the manager of the Home Depot when I am there next.

This is a quality primer for indoors and out. It can take awhile to mix right but goes on with a relatively thick coat and can be top coated in an hour with a latex or oil-based paint of your choosing. I have used this for years and have not seen any staining coming through the top coat. I used it most recently on cinder block that becomes moist during heavy rain periods. No flaking of paint yet but it would take a few years for that. The primer goes on bright white and has a very light smell to it before it dries. I top-coated it a few days after applying at which time the primer had a tacky feeling to it. This primer is not meant to be a top coat and will absorb water over time and degrade if left in the elements. Quart size is nice for small jobs. It was shipped to my house and packaged very well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this a few months ago for our new home, which needed paint in every room (all 2,000+ square feet). Some of the rooms had "ghost studs", some had discoloration from wallpaper glue, and one large room had VERY pink walls. This primer covered it all! I definitely needed a second coat with most of those rooms, but I tend to expect that and was very pleased with the outcome. I also liked this because it was low odor and greenguard certified, and the recoat time meant I didn't have to waste an afternoon waiting around. Photos show the before and after of our biggest room.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife brings antique furniture back to life. Often the only way to save an old piece is to paint, rather than stain. One dresser in particular had sat in a barn. The critters that called said barn home had left some very unpleasant smells behind that the dresser top had absorbed. It was such a beautiful piece we had to figure a way to bring it back. Kilz to the rescue! After more careful sanding and Kilz primer, the dresser looked gorgeous and had zero odor. LOVE your products!

Last year we had tried priming with a Zinnser brand and it was almost translucent. KILZ has made my house look brand new (so far as we are not done priming yet).

Used in two rooms before laying new flooring. Both very strong cat urine smell. No smell at all know. Highly recommend.

As part of redoing my living room, we had to update the red brick fireplace. I used the Kilz 3 and I am very happy with the final product. I cleaned the brick to remove soot and dirt on the brick. I covered the brick with 2 coats and now i can paint any type of paint over the brick. Easy to do.

It was great primer on 50 year old sheet rock and covered it nicely. The paint that covered it adhered excellently and the final coat was perfect.

Previously I tried another primer for the same paneling and it took 4 coats and my sanity.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used Kilz on brown wood paneling, walls and ceiling in the basement of the house we bought after we found out previous owner was a smoker! What an amazing difference! It went from a disgusting yellow lint to white and then painted. Now you never would have guessed that a heavy smoker lived there! Mind blown!!!

This stuff lives up to the hype. I had a water leak up stairs and the water came through the ceiling and left a stain. Once it dried I hit the stains with the Kilz premium. Had to give it 2 coats letting first dry. Then some ceiling white paint over it and the stain is gone completely! Highly recommend!

The desk originally belonged to my husband’s grandmother so I knew I had to save it! I already had Kilz premium on hand from another project, so I grabbed that after cleaning the piece as much as possible and started my work. It’s got great coverage! I’m working on a second coat now because of the dark color and the terrible stains it endured over the years. I highly recommend Kilz premium! So far it’s looks amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cleaned out a storage basement that I do not believe had been painted in approximately 70 years. Used one coat of Kilz Premium 3, but since it was rough somewhat uneven brick had to really take time rolling it for the best coverage. Great results, very happy how the places where the old paint had flaked off were so easily filled in without showing through.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a 5 gallon bucket to restore an aging pergola. There was a lot of lose paint and the wood was showing its age (as you can see from the attached before photos). I was able to cover the entire pergola with two coats of Kilz in a weekend because it went on so easily. It looks very clean and the primer filled in cracks and gaps. Additionally, the existing paint that wouldn't scrape off is locked down. I considered getting a primer + paint and skipping the primer step, but I'm confident that these coats of primer are going to make a HUGE difference in extending the life of the structure and finish coat.
