The package contained a defective part, so the lock would not work. This item was priviously returned but not inspected by HD. I bought the item from HD, yet is took Kwikset come to the rescue. And quick and professional they did. Not so much with HD. I have now installed the replacement item and this Kwikset item is HIGHLY recommended.

I started with KWIKSET SmartCode 260. Returned it for this one, because I wanted the Wi-Fi feature. Worked good for about a month. Now, it frequently looses the Wi-Fi connection and the battery life is less than 45%. I can only get it to reconnect to Wi-Fi by removing and reinstalling the batteries. This makes this deadbolt a pain in the butt. Should have kept the SmartCode 260.

- I chose the lock because of having key lock, key pad, mobile app and smart lock capability. - Overall build and material is good - Instructions and installation was straight-forward. - Mobile application isn't very good, and had problems which caused 2-3 reinstalls and accounts to be made before the lock was was properly acknowledged and associated with the house. What made this somewhat tolerable was the ability to reset back to factory settings each time. - Functionality is average. The lock also didn't perform auto-adjust to determine bolt depth into the door frame, causing a long loud beep and a "jammed" error in the mobile app. After 3-4 attempts of performing auto-adjust function, rather than go through the hassle of returning, getting another, or working with manufacturer, I simply drilled an extra 1/4" into door jam and resolved the problem.

I like that it’s set up to work with different style doors and different sized holes, that it can be rekeyed. I did have an issue rekeying it, followed instructions exactly and have done many in the past. But I called the customer service line and they were mostly helpful. Hung up with them and a few minutes later it was working fine. The app was great for setting up the Bluetooth and setting the code. Would definitely buy it again.

Do not spend your hard earned dollars on this lock. By 2 years the motor stops working. You call Kiwi 800 number and they will apologize that the motor stopped working and the lock is out of warranty. Just horrible not for over $200

Programming instructions are very easy to follow. Capability to easily change codes and provide temporary codes is great.

Each of the family member enjoyed the finger print process. The experience was wondeful when the lock was working. We even show off to our guests. Until it break down, drain battery. We had it installed twice. replaced by manuafature at one time. Now we took out of the battery and use it a manual lock. It is just an expensive toy. the prodouct is not for every one. It is just fancy.

this lock was easy to assemble but difficult to program. (instructions were poor) I called tech support and they were excellent. I had to do a software update on the lock which they talked me through and everything seems to be working great now.

I was skeptical that my hubby and I could install this lock, but we did it. The instructions were fantastic, easy to comprehend! Love my new lock!

I had a handyman install it because my fingers don’t always work the way I’d like them to but it looks beautiful installation was four out of five as far as complicated is concerned, and I love the bronze looks great with my black door

Just installed this lock today on a new door. It was simple and quick. The product is packaged to make the installation foolproof. They number small boxes of parts in the package to correspond to the install steps. Very clever. I have set up a fingerprint as well as the Google Home app and they're all talking to each other. The Kwikset shows you how to install, step by step and has other functions for ongoing management of the lodk. I have high hopes for our future together.

I installed this on my front door and have to say that I love how easy it was to install. Also it's very user friendly. However the most important is that I don't need a locksmith to change keys, it's patent design makes it easy to change the key tumbler to a different key. LOVE THIS PRODUCT

Buy this model if you want to connect to an existing home automation controller with Zigbee. Get the Halo WiFi model if you just want to use an app on your phone and Alexa. I see some reviews that say you can't control the 916 lock with Alexa. This is simply not correct. But you do need a Zigbee hub. A few of the Amazon Echo/Alexa speakers come with one, but most do not. There are two big advantages to the 916 over the Halo: 1. Zigbee takes less power than WiFi, so the 916 will require fewer battery changes. 2. The 916 does not require its own app. Having a different app for every smart device brand you own is a pain. I have my 916 controlled by Home Assistant, and Alexa can control the lock and report on its status. You should be able to do the same with Samsung Smart Things or Hubitat hubs.

Followed instructions which came with the item and no further tools were needed other than a screwdriver. App was very helpful in setting an account, updating the firmware, and assigned a code to operate the lock utilizing Bluetooth.

Its design looked nice but its functions are not too great. I had to have 3 locks replaced already with 2 years. It stopped working after replacing batteries 3rd time. Too much hassles to reprogram and resetting after new batteries that have short life span 3-4 months. Kwikset Customer Service was great and helpful but it is time consuming to replace the whole set 3rd time for front door; 2nd time to replace for garage door to reprogram and reset which i dud nit find amusing!

The Halo was easy to install! The instructions are very exact, plus you can view a video. The screws & parts are even in numbed boxes by steps! The only difficulty I had was mounting the backside, you need someone to help hold in place. Also the instructions, in connecting the key pad to interior half were very clear.The lock updated firmware- just be patient plus the app easily installed. I immediately programmed my door codes. So far seem like great investment & I highly recommend the Halo.

Excellent product once again from Kwikset. Easy and quick installation as always. Programing the unit is quite simple if the directions are followed, as is the rekeying process if needed. This unit is a big step up from the Powerbolt2 model that I installed in my previous home. Kudos Kwikset!

My husband and I own and manage vacation rentals; we install and program many types of smart locks. The HALO was easy and quick to install. With the Kwikset App already downloaded on my phone, programming was also easy. It may take two or three tries for the lock to pair with bluetooth, but, most smart locks take the same amount of time to connect to a bluetooth. The assigning of names and passcodes inside of the App was very easy; you can assign the codes yourself or the App can generate codes.

In the new out with the old. This simply lock is a little expensive but has been a blessing when someone works nights and they don’t have to struggle for the keys.

Owned 1 yr. Live in TN,lock 650 mi. away in FL.Chose this lock for Wi-Fi connection so could program guest codes remotely.At least 1x / 60 days has lost Wi-Fi connection,making it impossible to program remotely.Kwikset cust. Serv. useless.Every solution proposed requires I be w/in BT range. Do not purchase this lock if u need something that u can reliably operate remotely. If you purchase this lock,be sure you have regular access to it and plan on reconnecting via Bluetooth on a regular basis.

Pretty easy to install and set up. Just not very good support on adding family member and how to set them up to use Bluetooth like the primary. Very vague on the steps even not stated. Figured out a way but not very user friendly.

This is the best keypad lock I have ever installed. The motion installation instructions were perfect! I have installed Kwikset keypad locks many times but this was the easiest. The lock Bluetoothed my phone and for the first time I am able to add Access Codes from my phone! Access to the batteries is so much easier with the security panel sliding up to remove. Auras are the only way I will go in the future! Charlie

I replaced an existing Kwikset deadbolt and this was by far the easiest deadbolt I have ever installed. Programming was simple and quick.

I am mechanically challenged, so I had the local locksmith do the install. However, I was able to program everything from my iPhone set up my codes, set up auto lock parrot with the Bluetooth and complete the whole thing in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this lock set, it is easy to use and I believe I probably could have installed it myself. I just felt better having it professionally done. Thanks Tri County Locksmith

Took about a week to get to the store, installation was pretty simple using the app, took a while for it to connect to my Wi-Fi but once it did, works very well and has good curb appeal.

Absolutely love this product. The install was soo easy. I like their product because of the patent design of rekeying it without a locksmith and takes a matter of a minute to rekey. Kwikset software to control it via WiFi was also very easy to get it up and running. Also you can program in other users like handymen and give them their own code and know who is coming and go. Don’t be cheap, just buy it

This thing will eat your batteries in 45 days. Kwikset will blame you for your insttall and or your wifi sig, Install wise the lock is smooth The router is less than 35ft away with full signal and still drains the batteries. Returning this tomorrow

For someone who is mechanically inclined, there’s a door lock is easy to install. Just follow the simple instructions and voila it’s done. Yeah have to install an app if you want to use the Bluetooth mode or you can just use the keypad and install the code without using the app. The silver looks nice when installed and you can install numerous codes so you can give codes to whoever is needed.

Tested and held up. Was installed with a Security Latch Strike.
