Vary annoyed, when we opened it we seen it was dented from the top but we looked passed it. When we put it up to the window a piece of the plastic was missing which i found in the box.

I install this AC in the wall of living room...it was easy to install.

Choose this LG air conditioner to replace a a 9 year old off brand unit. This unit is working great. I bought it so it would cycle on and off when it got to temperature, and it's doing just, that. I hope I have/ use it for many years to come. Great purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read a lot of reviews on different units before making this purchase. Living in FL, you need a good AC that can hold up to our elements. This unit cools my room perfectly. I have the auto settings to turn off at 6:30 am (before work), and then turn on at 3:30 pm so my room is plenty cool when I get home. Also, it is sooo quiet. I am very happy with this unit!

The water is constantly leaking from the unit. It was professionally installed with the proper tilt. LG AC products are well known for water issues and they refuse to repair it although the unit is still under warranty stay away from LG products.

Previous AC purchases included better known higher priced brand names that worked nowhere near as well as this LG AC.. So simple to operate. My first time actually using a remote and it’s so easy to figure out. I should’ve known it would work great because my LG TV works great too.

I slipped a little while assembling it, but there is no cold air, what should I do? Please, help me.

I ordered this specific unit because it was the top rated on the New York Times “Wirecutter” review. This is my first window AC unit living in NYC so I needed one that was good (considering all window units are pretty awful). It does a good job of cooling down the space (about 300 sqft), however is fairly loud even for a window unit. I have to turn it off or keep it on Eco Mode when trying to watch tv. It was very easy to install. My biggest complaint is that the WiFi doesn’t work, which is one of the main reasons I bought it. Nothing is wrong with my personal Verizon Fios WiFi and I’ve tried troubleshooting a million different times. What’s worse is the customer service for LG and the ThinQ app is absolutely awful — it’s been two weeks of trying and I’m still unable to get anyone on the line to help. I tried to get help directly through the ThinQ app but they provided instructions for setting up a hotspot using a SECOND cell phone. Who has two cell phones? And I don’t even have hot spot capabilities on my phone. One of the most infuriating customer solution experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a unit specifically with WiFi capabilities beware, as this might not even work for you.

I bought this for my home office because the home central AC doesn't reach my office and I work from home and it's getting unbearable some days. I purposely purchased the wifi enable unit so I can monitor it remotely and start it when I'm not at home so it's ready for me and it's SO much better!!! I highly recommend it for anyone. My room is under the Sq footage that it's meant for which just means it'll stay colder longer with less energy.

Great product, easy to install and set up. I love the WiFi feature it has, as I can program the unit to come on and shut off at a given time.

Product was well packed. Despite having awkwardly designed windows the unit was fairly easy to install. It keeps the upstairs room in which it is in fairly cool. The dry feature is fairly nice, it takes some of the moisture out of the room on rainy days while cooling. So far this has been a good investment for upstairs!

I originally bought a 12000 BTU unit to cool a 550 Square foot garage, but it was too large for the window. I had to settle on the LG 8000 BTU unit thinking it may not be enough and I might have to buy two; one for the other window. Well to my surprise, it is working well enough to to keep our two puppies cool during the day and night.

This air conditioner is great. It was light enough that I could lift it alone (I am petite and cannot lift much weight). The instructions were clear, and made the few parts of the assembly a breeze. This unit even came with a window stopper to stop the window from moving, which was a great thing to have for our older windows. This unit fan is on the louder side when in ECO mode, so some may not like that (the compressor is not as easy to hear)... but its not so loud that it cannot be ignored (think of it as a sleeping baby should stay sleeping, but you may have to turn tv up a couple notches). My husband likes that the app used for wifi is so user friendly. It shows the temperature inside, outside, as well as give you a daily report of the energy usage, and keeps track of the weekly usage (not sure if longer term as we have only had it a couple days). You can even program it to turn on/off on a schedule. He really likes that all the reports etc are on one screen, he does not have to go searching for them making it very user friendly. I also like how easily the filter is cleaned. We live in a high pollen area, and my kiddos are highly allergic, so I clean the filter on another air conditioner daily, this one has been on for a little under a week and I have yet to clean the filter (pictured below is today's filter).

This ac is great. I am from Sweden so i like everything about COLD temperature. It cools my Bedroom (385 sqf) in a Flash. This unit is as quiet as any 8000 btu can be. I had the same unit without wifi for 10 years.

Installation: This is NOT a unit you can simply place in your window. It REQUIRES OUTSIDE INSTALLATION. You have to install a cabinet/housing and there are a variety of issues with compatibility both Home Depot and LG are not aware of. If you search through the reviews, you will find a plethora of problems with different window types and fixes that require outside installation and carpentry. The instructions are poorly written and difficult to decipher. Steps are missing, diagrams aren't accurate, and the video tutorial on installation is not for this unit (10k BTU) The installation video is not even remotely indicative of the amount of work required for even a window that is compatible in all ways. I have a standard wood vertical sash window. I ended up paying a carpenter to install it. He had to create a new inner and outer sill which requires drilling into the actual window. He also didn't believe the sill support brackets were secure enough and added additional methods to secure it. Renters beware.... It will require outside installation as you have to replace the shipping screws that are removed during the cabinet separation . You'll see a lot of reviews mentioning it shaking. making odd sounds, and I'm guessing some of that comes from the inability to secure the shipping screws to the outdoor section of the unit if you're not on the first floor. Functionality: It cools effectively and what I would expect from a 10k BTU unit. It is a noisy air conditioner. There are different factors but I've had a few apartments that came with cabinet/wall installed units and this is not a quiet air conditioner. It's not distractingly loud, but it's loud enough to disrupt a video or audio call if it's close to your desk. The (incredibly flimsy) curtains connect via screws which leaves rooms for insects and outside air to get in. You could use the provided heat proofing to cover the holes but it won't create a seal to stop bugs/air. The cord is SHORT and it can't be used with an extension cord. The wifi is connected through your phone, not your actual connection and your phone has to be connected to a lower speed of 2.4 Ghz to enable use. In my experience, when you use a Bluetooth device paired with your phone, the air conditioner shuts off. No idea what's going on there. I open my AirPods case and the AC shuts off.

I own several LG products and read generally positive reviews for this air conditioner. Pros: It cools well and is pretty simple installation and operation. The wifi feature is nice. Cons: It is LOUD, and in addition has an annoying rattle that I cannot seem to stop. I have taken it out of my window and re-installed, hoping the rattle was just an installation issue. It isn't. I could probably put up with the general loud hum, but can't deal with this rattling. Also, would be nice if there were a lower speed than #1. I wouldn't even venture to keep on speeds #2 and #3, as they sound like a motorboat taking off. I will be returing to Home Depot this week.

This air conditioner was easy to install and works great. The app to control it is simple to use, reliable and convenient. I don't find the noise to be excessively loud but you can hear it, it is a window unit so you should expect that. Over all, I'm very pleased with it. I've had this unit installed now for three weeks and planning on getting another to replace an old one in another room.

Do not buy this air conditioner if you plan to use with smart modes or expect support from LG. Read recent reviews of the app on the Apple App Store. Most are negative. I’ve had 2 of these air conditioners for about a month and received no support from LG. The SmartThinQ app is truly garbage. Called several times to resolve issues with programming smart modes for 2 window AC units and emailed at least 7 times and still nothing. When they did respond 2 of those emails, the responses had nothing to do with the problem. I purchased these units solely because of the feature to have home, away, pleasant, sleep and vacation modes configured for the units. None of these modes are configurable. Just notes “airconditioner alert”. The app is also not compatible with IFTTT so if you want to set a mode to start if you enter a distance from your home, it is not possible. If you are looking for a smart air conditioner, look elsewhere.

The AC works great keeps the room cold and having it on wifi is a good option. I had this AC for a week so great.

Kind of a pain to get set up! Directions are minimal. Rubber seals for above and below a/c unit tear very easily so you only have one chance to get it right. I would recommend buying some foam window sealant strips. Once set up, the unit works well.

Very nice ac unit, easy to install & not to heavy.

This unit cools well, but is way louder than the 54 dB rating in the specs. It was so loud, I had to return it. It's possible there was just something wrong with the particular one I had, but to prove this one was loud, I measured it with a sound level meter (a real one, not a phone app.) See pictures. On the highest setting it measured in at 73.5 dB, and the lowest was 67.6 dB. The unit was in my master bedroom and positioned about six feet from the bed. At that distance, the measurement was exactly 10 dB lower on the lowest setting, which is still twice as loud as the advertised specifications. This unit would probably be ok for a garage or small workshop, maybe even a living room, but definitely not a bedroom (unless you like it loud when trying to sleep.)

The air conditioner was worth the extra $50 to get the Wi-Fi capability. Very happy with this purchase but most impressed with the customer service from the Clifton New Jersey store. The delivered air conditioner was damaged in shipping and I called the Clifton store and the assistant store manager Fernando went above and beyond his Call of Duty having Andre personally deliver a new air conditioner for me that night. It was 92° in the house and within 2 hours Andre not only delivered but installed a new air conditioner... Thank you thank you thank you that is what customer service is all about. You now have a customer for life!
