The installation instructions included with the Moen Darcy Single-Handle 5-Spray 1.75 GPM Tub and Shower Faucet with Valve in Spot Resist Brushed Nickel (Valve Included) advise that installation of this product at non-recommended measurements may lead to a condition known as stacking. Stacking is water coming out of the showerhead when you are trying to fill the tub. The installation instructions advise a minimum of 6” and a maximum of 11” is the spacing requirement between the on/off handle and the tub spout. Additionally, to avoid stacking, the instructions advise using ½” copper or 1/2” IPS Pipe for the piping from the bottom of the rough-in valve to the elbow for the tub spout.
