Can't turn the water on!
My unit can no longer turn the water on after it turns the water off to do its leak test which it does every night. Again the solution is to buy another of these nice $600 units. Based upon my conversation with the tech, I am not the first person to have this problem. It also incorrectly measures bidirectional flow, which is common. While Moen fixes this product it needs to do something to make its early adopters happy!

    Very pleased with Moen
    I had this product installed this year after we were offered an homeowner's insurance credit for installing it. It's not trivial to install since you'll have to install it on the main line after the shut-off valve and the pressure reducer (if you have one). It also needs a 120V outlet within extension cord distance. I also ended up splitting the water lines going to the sprinklers and internal house water lines so that Flo would only monitor for leaks inside the house, but I this wasn't required. Since being installed, it's detected and turned off the water several times due to leaking toilets, which has saved us money in addition to the insurance discount. It's also very handy for shutting off the water to the house remotely, either when travelling, or when you're working on a plumbing issue in the house and need to turn the water on and off frequently.

      DO NOT BUY
      I was a huge advocate for this product. The idea is amazing. Unfortunately mine broke just after the one year warranty was up. My plumber said one of the pieces inside failed and I should contact the company for another. When I called they told me they do not have any replacement pieces and I'd have to but another brand new unit for $1000. This is just after one year of use, and several plumber calls. Very disappointing.

        Two valve faliures in two years
        I bought the first Moen Flo in 2020 and had it professionally installed by a plumber, and enjoyed its features. The unit stopped working less than a year later (no status lights and lost connection with Wi-Fi) but a replacement was provided by Moen under the warranty. We had the replacement unit professionally installed also and it has likewise failed less than a year later. Both units failed in the same exact manner, but Moen does not warranty the replacement unit. Two valve failures in less than two years does not give me any confidence in this product, therefore, I will replace it with another brand.

          Poor support
          This product has a known issue and Moen is not addressing it. This has a turbine which measures the volume of water, the turbine has 2 very small magnets in it and both are exposed to the water in the water line, 100% of the time. To replace this would cost approximately $1.00, and is extremely easy to change out. Moen, however does not offer this as a replacement part. Their solution is for you to purchase an entirely new product, and they will give you 1/2 off, making the cost around $400.00. That is absolutely crazy, having to spend $400 to replace a product that could be fixed for $1.00. I do not recommend this.

            Planned obsolescence
            This product has a known issue that Moen refuses to address. The impeller that tracks water usage has two exposed magnets. The magnets rust and then no longer allow the unit to track water usage. Should it be easy to fix? Yes it would be easier to fix than replacing a cartridge in on of their faucets. Would it be an expensive part? Given it’s a piece of plastic with two small magnets which would cost them 50 cents. I would pay $20. Unfortunately despite all of these units dying in around 1 year. They don’t offer any help other than to spend another $700 and then on top purchase their $5 month service. This was. Great product when it worked. DONT BUY THIS you will eventually be very disappointed.

We highly recommend installing an iron filter to prevent the issue from occurring in these water conditions. Installing an iron filter will also keep this type of sediment out of the water you use for consumption and hygiene. We do not have a service kit to replace these parts. Your Moen Flo 1 in.               Flo By Moen Do not buy!
              The impeller has 2 very small magnets attached. They should have been encapsulated in plastic to protect them. They were not and rusted and became unusable. I called service thinking I would just replace the impeller. I was told they do not sell parts. I would have to replace the whole unit. Another $699! The $10 impeller will end up costing over $700 to fix. Be advised and warned. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!

                      I’ve invested in this valve, and the battery backup- a $625 investment. In under two years the valve has failed and all Moen’s customer service can do for me is sell me a new valve. They don’t sell parts, or repair the units. I’ve been a huge advocate for this product, recommending it to many after winter storm Uri. I can no longer recommend this product with a service model like this. Its expensive to start with, and unless you pay for their monthly FloProtect insurance program, your only option is to buy another one. I expect more out of a product at this price point

                        I can't comment on how it works once its set...
                        I can't comment on how it works once its set up because, unfortunately, we haven't even made it to that point! We've spent over five hours trying to get this to connect. I've reset the device countless times, deleted and reinstalled the app countless times, watched youtube videos, contacted customer service (got a cryptic email in return with a whole set of instructions that were not even remotely mentioned in the instruction manual, like 'turn off band steering along with IPv6 and make sure it is running on WPA2 security.' How is an average consumer (not an IT technician) supposed to make heads or tails of this?? I've read it works well when it works but getting to that point has been unbelievably frustrating! I'll be returning it.

                          How much iron is too much?
                          So Moen, I have read through many of the reviews here and most angry buyers report issues that you reply with your canned response that includes "We highly recommend installing an iron filter to prevent the issue from occurring in the future." Before we spend ~ $1,000 after price and installation then later find out that we need to install an iron filter that we will likely need to replace/clean as a frequent pain-in-the-axx, can you tell us: What water tests can be performed to check iron content of supply water? What level of iron content is acceptable for your system to work? What iron filter is recommended? I look forward to your response.

To test your water for iron content, please check with your plumber or local municipality. We recommend installing a 150 Micron sediment water filter. If you are on a well system, filtration is generally recommended as you will find that the aerators on the faucet get clogged since the water is naturally higher in iron content.                             Good concept, bad product
                            If I could give zero star for the product, I would. I had 3 units installed within 14 months (one original purchase and two warranty replacements), they lasted between 2 weeks and 11 months. I paid more money for installations than the product.

                              Works until it doesn't
                              I have had this installed in 2 homes now and right around the 2 year mark, they start to malfunction. The unit does a leak check every night around 2 years, the valve doesn't reopen all the way. 2 houses, same problem, customer service said buy another.

                                    Product Fails after 1 year, bad design
                                    As others wrote, after about a year or so, the impeller magnets will fail! The impeller two little magnets pick up some dirt and corrosion. Moen will not sell the impeller! They want you to spend $890 for a new unit and a filter. No more Moen!

                                      Finicky to set up but once I got them up and running, they seem to be doing good including the two test "water on the floor" tests I gave them. I currently have 8 of them up and running.

                                      Magnet failure
                                      After 18 months, meter reading 50% flow & misidentifiying items. Upon investigation, one of the two magnets on the turbine has minor corrosion. No easy way to remove magnet to clean and Moen does not sell replacement turbine. Due to differences in water quality across the country encasing the magnets (not exposed to water) might be an easy fix. They should also sell a replacement turbine as it is easy to remove and replace. I would not purchase a Moen Flo until magnet corrosion issue is corrected. I have iron filter upstream of flow meter.

                                        Batteries fully or partially drained
                                        I purchased the set of 3 detectors. Opened the package a few days after picking it up from the local HD store. The plastic strips that are supposed to keep the batteries disconnected from the terminals before installation were loose for all 3 detectors. This means the batteries were connected for who knows how long before I opened the box. One battery was already completed drained, a second was at approximately 75% capacity, and the third was near 100% capacity. Perhaps this was a customer return. Regardless, I returned this to HD and may need to re-order a new set and hope I get a new, unused set of detectors.

                                          I like the product but it has adesign flaw. The magnets in the impeller that measure the flow corrode. Moen do not offer replacements parts and direct you to buy a new unit
