The VF2008A is ideal to use for picking up drywall, sawdust and general debris pickup. there are just small amount of the dust escapes the dust specially if it is very fine dust. However, it should be in small amount that is why it is still recommended to have a cartridge filter installed in the vacuum. Also, make sure that the filter bag is properly installed and the inlet tube is inserted covering the hole where the debris enters into the drum to minimize the debris leaking out the filter bag. It is not recommended to use filter bag with other branded vacuum, because it may not fit the vacuum.
