This is the best orbital sander I have used. The vacuum on the sander does a great job at picking up the dust.

Perfect fit and a solid tool

A single speed sander which works as advertised. Made sanding down our outdoor bar a breeze! Easy to dump the sawdust and clean. Like that it comes with a nice hard-plastic carrying case. Has a long cord which meant I did not need an extension cord. Fairly noisy, but what sander isn't?

Contrary to other IGNORANT statements about the shape of it, I found it very versatile to hold in multiple ways, depending on what shape you might be working. one of the ONLY brands with a good barrel shape to wrap my hand around. this is my 2nd makita palm sander purchase, I am so very happy with the first. i was disappointed with the life of the hook&loop sanding pad. the hook didn't hold the paper as tight as a ryobi pad did. but otherwise it's a good American made product.

The 3 amp motor works good and it's gets the job done.

Works really well and and good price

I first bought this make/model random orbital sander in 2011. I use it frequently and have always appreciated that it is comfortable for my smaller hands (I am a woman). This summer, I used it to sand 300 SF of my deck floor, cedar siding that could not be replaced due to pandemic sourcing constraints, and more. This summer alone, I ran this sander for 60+ hours. It is a workhorse. So, why did I buy another one? After a decade, the motor surges and the rotational speed accelerates much above normal. I become emotionally attached to my reliable tools and would always prefer repair over replacement, but the estimated repair cost far exceeds the cost of a new unit ($60 pre-tax). It's performance has been so outstanding, that I chose the same make/model once again. I highly recommend this product.

I was tired of the batteries on my Ryobi cordless sander dying every 15 minutes so I decided to go with a corded version. I love Makita power tools and this one is no exception. Powerful and gets the job done quickly. This biggest selling point for me was that this one comes with a hard case compared to the similarly priced Dewalt.
