It went through the wood easily. Attaching a wire to it and pulling it through was tricky, but it worked. You have to wind it through the bit with the grooves.

Drilling into end grain for 20 inches caused the shaft to flex some, so the hole was not perfectly straight, but I was then able to use a 12" long 7/16 bit that I had to drill end from both ends. Overall it worked well, and I'm sure I'll have a need for it in the future as well.

Drilling through a deck to install some carriage bolts. Drill cut through the wood like butter. Instaleld 30 or so bolts and the bit is just as sharp as when I opened it.

Saw Rich Trethewey use this on Ask This Old House when he was installing a dryer vent and my husband decided it was just the thing to use to install our new dryer vent for the washer/dryer combo we got from Home Depot. It worked really well and my husband says he can think of other uses for it also. Worth the price which was very reasonable
