    The case sucks
As much as these are you’d think Milwaukee would make it so the saws stay in place but instead they just bang around everywhere damaging the blades and there’s room for one more paddle bit They couldn’t add one more or at least 2 different sizes these are amazing blades but the cheaper set you get a pack out case which I’m assuming is much better but the more expensive and bigger set you get a crappy plastic box That should be the opposite

Received the Milwaukee BigHawg 9 piece carbide teeth hole saw kit. Item # 49-56-9295. These hole saws will go through wood with nails (although I would avoid going through nails if possible because it’s going to take a toll on the bit), cement board, plaster, and shingles. I needed larger sizes and this kit fits the bill with 2 1/8, 2 9/16, 3”, 3 5/8 and 4 5/8. It also comes with Arbor with Pilot bit, 2 Big Hawg with carbide teeth Clean Wood pilot bits and a fantastic pack out carrier to hold everything. I do a lot of rough in work in new construction and additions work and my old stuff needed to be replaced. After reading reviews and a few manufacturers,I decided that the Big Hawg by Milwaukee was the one for me. Tried out one of the saws and it was like cutting through butter compared to my old stuff (see picture). The only con that might be concern for finish work is that they do cut a rough hole. I would highly recommend this kit.

Man oh man, I love this Milwaukee BIG HAWG 9-piece Carbide Hole Saw Kit with PACKOUT case. This is the perfect do-it-all hole saw to have on hand when you don't know what type of material you are going to encounter. I have the Milwaukee DOZER hole saws and they do a great job but the BIG HAWG excels at it. The sizes in the set seemed a little odd and non-standard and I honestly don't know what their true intent is. I have put holes in a wide variety of material for running electrical conduit, water lines, drain lines and these hole saws never once faltered. My two biggest complaints when using hole saws are dulling and difficulty removing the plugs. These suffer from neither. Actually, I think I must have set a personal time record for getting a plug out of a hole saw. For me, that alone makes them worth the extra expense. These will cost you more up front but you will recoup that in the life expectancy.

The Milwaukee big hawg carbide hole saws are amazing. Gone are the days of bimetal blades that burn up quick. The hole saws are a must if doing anytype of rough in work. The bits grab nicely and feed through the wood with little effort. Being carbide a nail hit isn't the end of the bit, they take a beating and could easily be resharpend and have a tooth replaced if need be. The case it come is is part of the pack out storage system which is great all in its self.

This is the best hole saw I have ever used. The Milwaukee big hawg kit is an exceptional set of tools. The carbide hole bits are rugged, cut accurately through wood and composite materials and most importantly, through nails and screws in the wood. The box is jobsite tough with secure latches and mounts on the back to fit the Milwaukee tool boxes. The kit includes two wood and one spiral pilot bits. Milwaukee lives up to its motto, Quality Portable Tools.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as carbide hole saws. This is a heavy duty set. The saws have three teeth, regardless of the hole size. The carbide insert is much longer than the typical circular saw blade. I assume this is to obtain sufficient brazing length, as the force will be considerably higher when you have interrupted cuts, such as hitting nails in wood. The length of these hole saws are about ½” longer than standard cutters, for deeper cuts. The clean-out slot is open at the bottom, for easier cleanout. The pilot drill point is carbide tipped drill, plus they include a couple very nice 3/8” spade bits. The storage case is deluxe and also heavy duty, but I don’t like the bulk of the system. For me, storage space is always a premium, and I prefer to stack the cutters for storage.

Okay. The parts in this kit are extremely well made. The hole saws cut through nail laden wood with ease. I cut a hole for a soap dispenser in an old vanity top that had more nails than you can imagine. My Milwaukee Hole-Shooter Magnum didn't even faulter with a 2-1/8" hole saw. The question I have, however...who uses the sizes that are included in this kit? None of the sizes match what I would normally find in an electrician's or plumber's kit. What do you do when you don't have the right size? "Wobble" it out! But, I can't believe that is what Milwaukee intended for a product they spent time designing and manufacturing. Maybe they are intended for "rough" work like running electrical distribution or sprinkler lines in a high-rise. I'll give them that and recommend this product accordingly.

This is a very good set of hole saws, the carbide tips will keep them going a long time.. All the normal sizes you will need for larger holes are included. Great for going through cement siding like I have. They cut through wire mesh that you find in plaster at times. The larger sizes should be used with a larger drill with a side handle so you can keep a good grip on the drill. Nice having them all in one case.

This is easily be best hole saw set I have ever used. These Big Hawg hole saws will cut through nails as advertised. I drove two 16 penny nails into the side of a 2x12 and then cut a hole right through both nails. The limiting factor in cutting through the nails was my drill, not the hole saw blade. The saw made short work of the nails to complete the hole. The wood core left in the saw is easy to remove. The saw arbor and bit are easily assembled to the hole saw and easily removed again. I found that the hole saw arbor can be attached to the hole saws without tools as the checkered nut will secure it at finger tight.

The pilot bit tips resemble some concrete bits but much sharper. Durability nicely describes the saws, arbor, and starter bits. Three carbide teeth pilot bits are included, though it may be difficult to wear out just one. In addition to the four hole saws ranging from 2-1/8" to 4-5/8" (Big Hawg), the kit includes a file, an Allen wrench for changing starter bits; and one well designed carrying case with handle. Cut depth is almost 2-1/2". With access from both sides, a fairly deep cut out hole is possible.

This review is for Milwaukee BIG HAWG hole saw set Product 49-56-9290. This hole saw set includes a tough, high-density polyethylene case with steel hinge pins and handy sliding latch. It includes three 4-1/2 inch long carbide-tipped pilot bits, a hex wrench, a sturdy arbor and six heavy-duty hole saws with three carbide teeth each. The saw teeth are a relatively wide 3/16-inch. So far, I have used this set to rough-in PVC five waste pipe plumbing systems and to install clothes dryer exhaust venting for several dryers, primarily cutting through fir wood framing lumber and through drywall, plywood flooring, plywood sheathing and cement board siding. The cutting performance of this product is remarkable. I consistently cut through 1-1/2 inch thick framing members with the 4-1/4 inch saw in under 40 seconds with no jams over signs of overheating. In fact the saw for each operation (with both larger and smaller hole saws) was no more than just warm when cutting through 2-inch dimension lumber and through cement board siding. These saws perform admirably in cement board siding, the cutting operation each time completed in less than a half minute for the largest of the saws in this set. The saws all have 1/2-inch wide, 1-7/8-inch deep relief slots that contribute to easy release of the cut core and effective chip release for cooling during cutting. The cutting depth for all of the saws is just short of 2-1/2 inches, about a half inch greater than other hole saws I own. These saws work so well that I am inclined to reach for them first when I must saw cut holes. Since the largest of the saws in this set is too small for rough-in plumbing using 4-inch PVC piping, I purchased a BIG HAWG hole saw in the 4-5/8 inch size. This is a great product from my perspective because of its performance and durability.

I recently received a ductless mini split a/c unit and needed to drill a 2 1/2" hole in order to pass the copper tubing and drain tubing through the wall from inside to outside. The wall on the inside was 1/2" sheet rock so it was no biggie but the outside was stucco so I was really worried about it. On top of that I had to drill the hole in the stucco from the outside while standing on a ladder two stories up while using only one hand so I could hang on to the ladder with the other. Plus I had to drill at a slightly upward angle so that the drain tubing would drain correctly. I had dreaded doing this and kept putting it off knowing how much of a pain it was going to be. I honestly shouldn't have waited. This Milwaukee Big Hawg hole saw cut that stucco like it was darn near butter. It started to chip the stucco a bit only because I was drilling at a slightly up angle but once the hole got started it went perfectly. I have never used this style of hole saws before and man what a difference. The carbide teeth on this hole saw made for a clean hole on both sides of the wall. If you are a plumber or electrical contractor or even a home owner doing a remodel I would highly, highly recommend these hole saws. They are above and beyond anything I have used before and I look forward to always having them on the shelf in the garage for all my future projects. As the old saying goes "time is money" and these things will definitely save you both. These Milwaukee Big Hawg hole saws come with a clearance pocket for better chip removal (worked great on stucco), the largest carbide teeth for extreme durability and fast cuts, optimized slot design for fast plug removal (worked perfect for removing my stucco plug), multi-material pilot bit and a thicker backer at the base of the hole saw to make it last longer.

The Milwaukee BigHAWG Carbide Hole Saw Kit (7-Piece) is a tool set I have needed for quite sometime. The kit includes 3 hole saws: 2-1/8", 2-9/16", 3-5/8"; 1 arbor with pilot bit; 2 multi-material pilot bits; 1 diamond file & 1 hex wrench. I plan to use the saws to drill a hole on my 1/2" cement board skirting for a drain pipe to the exterior from under our home and for drilling holes in my garage for PVC vent pipes.

There's lots to like about the Milwaukee BIG HAWG Carbide Hole Saw 10-Piece Kit. Let's start with the basics: These are rough-in hole saws, not the product to drill that expensive door for a lockset. Having been stuck a few times to use a finish hole saw for a rough-in application, I've burned them up in hard wood, destroyed the teeth hitting a nail that wasn't suppose to be there, and pushed hard in awkward situations that froze the saw to the arbor (drill end). That's a waste of time and tool. This kit will solve just about any hole size needed during rough-in. What they don't tell you ... is how to connect the hole saw to the arbor (drill and drill end assembly). Milwaukee got it right! To make this go quick (if you haven't used this type of arbor before), this is the trick. First, back off the nut just till it engages its rear most position (towards the drill). Second, pull back the round ribbed part that has two metal bumps or protrusions and hold it near the nut, so that you can screw the hole saw onto the threads of the arbor. Screw the hole saw on the arbor to just about where the two metal bumps (that insert into the holes on the hole saw) touch; stop. Third, align the two bumps to the hole saw and push this unit so that the two metal bumps go into the hole saw. Lastly, tighten the nut to hold everything in place. This is the best attachment method I've seen. I still have an old hole saw where the screw-in arbor is permanently attached. The wood was really tough and it torqued up on me. The result is they are fused together. To successfully separate the two would damage the hole saw, taking it out of round - so what's the point? Here, THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH THIS DESIGN. Did I saw that if you spend some serious dollars on this kit, you get a decent storage box? Well, you do. Great job, Milwaukee. Oh yeah - are the hole saws any good? They are spectacular. The quickly chew their way through wood, which is exactly what you hoped this kit would do. Even better is that they spit out the wood out the back as they cut, and as a result the inner core is small and quickly falls away. You don't get the wood plug stuck in the hole saw. The entire kit is money well spent.

Awesome set of bits, punch through wood like nobody's business. Had to put a couple holes through cinder block for some pipe chases and were still as sharp as new afterwards. Highly recommended

Wish it had an arbor like the spyder set that allowed for quick ejection of plugs. Cut holes through hard and soft wood and plywood like a champ in my hole hawg. Worth the money.
