Inconsistent quality of the rolls
No issues with underlayment characteristics, it works good for our floating bamboo flooring. The issue is the inconsistent quality of the rolls. We’ve got 6 rolls for the project and 3 of them had bald spots throughout the whole length of the roll.

    Destroyed our vinyl floor
Home depot recommended this to us when purchasing Nighthawk flooring. Everyone said it was easy to work with, and they were right. They said I would love it, but after being told this is the reason my $4000 in flooring is falling apart under my feet, Im not loving it any longer. Now we have a busted floor, and no one will accept responsibility.

      Almost easy
So I went with because of the thickness and review rating. Pretty easy to work but the adhesive is too far away from the edge for the plastic lip to adhere to it. Maybe I got a misaligned roll but the seams were flush and I had to stretch the plastic to get it to the adhesive strip, which caused the edges to overlap, so I had to forgo the "handy lip design."

        "Quietwalk" is a misnomer
Replaced cheap plastic underlayment that was recommended by my installer, and installed Quietwalk in it's place. Unfortunately, Quietwalk is anything but quiet. The floor now has a distinct hollow sound, and if you're wearing shoes it sounds as if a parade of horses is walking through your home. Additionally, the floor now has a spongy feeling when walked upon vs the solid feeling in the rest of the home. The flooring visibly moves up and down vs no movement before. May end up replacing again.

          QuietWalk is pretty loud
We installed luxury vinyl flooring in our home in 2 stages; two years ago we did half the house using a vapor barrier and generic plastic underlayment (not QuietWalk) and this year did the rest of the home using QuietWalk. The flooring 2 years ago did not have a foam backing, but what we got this year did. Same SKU, but the material changed. The flooring from 2 years ago feels tight to the concrete floor, has almost no "give", and is pretty quiet. The flooring from this year feels bouncy when you walk on it, and is really loud. Like, the cat jumping off the bed and walking down the hall in the night will wake you up. Even with just stocking feet, there's no way to walk quietly on the QuietWalk half of the house. It's not just a little louder, it is significantly louder. The wife prefers the feel of the half without QuietWalk, but I prefer the feel of the floor with QuietWalk. We both agree on the loudness comparison though.

I bought this to put under engineered bamboo flooring. It adds a noticeable layer of cushion to the floor. The house seems much quieter now. I'm not hearing as much outside noise from music or traffic from a nearby highway. There's now an echo in the house and inside noises are louder and more crisp. I've been wanting to soundproof my walls for several years, but haven't gotten around to it, but I was unaware that most of the bothersome noise was coming up through the floor. Now I don't need to soundproof the walls, because QuietWalk works. The moisture barrier is a big plus, but the sound barrier is top notch. It was well worth the little extra money per square foot.

The product works great. The ability to tape them together with the strip that is attached worked perfectly. I don't understand some of the comments about how difficult it was to work with. Even the end of the rolls stayed mostly flat once unrolled across the floor. I would definitely recommend this over the garbage they tried to sell me that they carry in stock. I only gave it 4 stars because nothing in life is perfect, but this is close to perfect.

This product is not quite at all. I bought 400 square feet of it and after walking on the wood to test it, it was so loud. It had a hollow sound when walking on it. I returned the rest of it. I've had other underlayment that was much more quieter.

We converted out smallest bedroom into an exercise room. Rolling the treadmill and rowing machine around isn't easy on carpeting. So we decided to tear it out and install a snap in floating hickory floor. Quiet Walk underlayment was a perfect choice versus foam. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Any moister under the floor is wicked and passed through the ends to evaporate. My main reason for using Quiet Walk is the sound deadening properties. I always insulate walls with sound batting, so loud conversations or kids having fun don't disrupt others in the next room. As the exercise room is on the second floor above the living room, this really helps eliminate the vibration and sound transmission of the tread mill motor and pounding of our running. Easy to unroll. Cuts well using a sharp blade and aluminum T-square drywall guide or straight piece of lumber. I bought the red seaming tape since I wanted a tape designed for this product, tough other types (duct tape) may work, but why chance it? I liked the built in vapor barrier and wicking properties of the fiber mesh. No fiber mess, practically lint free. Only concern was for future project requiring nailed down planks: this version cannot be nailed or glued ( per the factory). BUT, they do make Quiet Walk PLUS that can be nailed. See, manufacturers do listen to their customers and improve a great product!

We chose this underlayment material because, while there are several competing products with slightly better acoustic deadening specs, this one had significantly better thermal insulation specs. Since we are in a single-level house, acoustic isolation for below the floor was not a concern, but heat loss through the floor was. Decent acoustic specs are nice though to minimize “clacking” of footsteps in the house. Installation was pretty straightforward: lay the first strip down ~3/4” from the size wall, cut the ends a little long, then trim to ~3/4” from each end wall. The second strip turned out to be a little more difficult. As shown in my photos, there is a wide blue plastic lip on one edge of the underlayment and a narrow strip of adhesive (with a peel off film) a few inches from the other edge. You have to stretch the tape to reach the adhesive, while not overlapping the edges of the underlayment body. This should be easy, but the lip sometimes gets bunched up, particularly near the start of the roll, and won’t stretch to reach the adhesive strip. It would have made installation easier if either they prevented the bunching or used a wider adhesive strip. As it was we ended up having to use duct tape in a few sections – not what I would have preferred. But overall this is a good quality product and we will buy more of it as we progress on replacing carpet in our house with bamboo flooring.

What you need to look for in an underlayment besides the price. Model # QW100B1LT Internet #304702498 QuietWalk 100 sq. ft. 3 ft. x 33 ft. x 1/8 in. Felt/Fiber Underlayment with Attached Vapor Barrier for Laminate and Floating Floor I used to just buy what was cheap, since I thought all you needed was padding under the floor. I found that there is a lot of other factors that determine if an underlayment is worth the price. It has to be a good vapor barrier, cushion the flooring, sound proof the floor and work with in-floor radiant heaters. As a plus it should be Eco friendly. QuietWalk is Certified to contain a minimum of 94% recycled material. Quiet Walk covers all of that. You have walked on those new floors and you have heard that funny hollow click or thump sound that your shoe makes. That is because the underlayment isn't a very good sound barrier. There are two Ratings (IIC:71 and STC:66) that tell you how good an underlayment is, I have them listed at the bottom. QuietWalk ranks very high in both ratings, which means that when you walk on your new floor, it will sound like you are walking on solid wood. The moisture barrier has an adhesive strip for easy installation. You may need to purchase special tape if you have to join cut pieces. Manufacturers Notes: Certified clean and safe indoor air quality no VOC's (volatile organic compounds) or off-gassing from materials Approved for in-floor radiant heat systems Easy installation - roll out and join the seam QuietWalk IIC:71 ICC (Impact Insulation Class) Impact Noise is the result of people walking on the floor. IIC 50 – The least amount of impact sound transmission reduction considered effective. IIC 60 – Considered a medium level of impact sound transmission reduction. IIC 65 – Considered a high level of impact sound transmission reduction that would satisfy most occupants. QuietWalk STC:66 Sound Transmission Class (or STC) is a rating of how well a building partition attenuates (weaken or reduce intensity) of air borne sound. STC 50 plus is a good level of isolation for walls and ceilings STC 60 plus is a high level of isolation for walls and ceilings

The 100 sq. ft. 3 ft. x 33 ft. x 1/8 in. Felt/Fiber Underlayment with Attached Vapor Barrier for Laminate and Floating Floor is a well made padding to use in a variety of home flooring projects. this project. Its a well made product and similar to other "quiet walk" products on the market. I was undecided if I should give this a 4 or 5 star. I have used many "quiet walk" type of underlayments on flooring projects. What I did not like about this product was the vapor barrier was very thin, along with the barrier attached to the felt/fiber padding. Its easily half the thickness as similar products sold by other vendors. I would feel ok using it if I was not worried about vapor issues.

This is the first flooring that I have used underlayment underneath. The material is very strong but still easy to trim to size. It has an easy to attach strip so you don't need to purchase any seam tape. It has a plastic flap that attaches to a peel and stick glue strip to complete the vapor barrier. The plastic vapor barrier was hard to tear (I tried on a remnant). This was so easy to use and very high quality.
