The Ring Video Doorbell Elite is intended to provide our users with accurate motion detection, so you can trust that motion alerts are important and relevant when they come through. By adjusting a few settings, you'll be able to decrease false positive motion detection, and we are here to help. For optimal motion detection, this device should be mounted at 48 inches off of the ground. This ensures that any motion settings you choose are applied evenly. If you haven't already, please ensure your motion zones are set to include only your porch area. Try to reduce the zone away from the street or where passing vehicles travel. You can also enable 'People Only' mode. This setting will only send you a motion alert when humans are detected within your motion zones. Please note that this only affects motion notifications being delivered to your mobile devices. Your Ring Doorbell Elite will still record all detected motion events. The Ring Video Doorbell Elite is intended to deliver a premium experience, allowing you to count on fast Ring alerts and a seamless set up process. If resetting was necessary, a new set up should be simple, and should complete within a matter of moments. Although you may no longer own your device, we're still here to help those who may encounter a similar situation. When faced with missed or delayed Ring alerts, we recommend rebooting your router. Today's routers handle a lot of information, and can benefit from the occasional power cycle. This can help speed up the delivery of mobile notifications, as well as help with device set up issues. For anyone experiencing similar issues, please power down your router for a minute or so. Then, allow it to power back on. Once you are certain the internet has come back online, please test your Ring devices. If you performed a hard reset on your Ring devices, you should have no issue setting them up once the router powers back on.
