Used this as the top coat....mailbox makeover

Sorayed it over black rustoleum and caused the paint to wrinkled and pull up. Tried to sand everything back down yo bare metal and im still getting a bad reaction with new paint

I used this in an unconventional way. I spray painted some shower faucet handles in Rust-Oleum’s antique brass to match my other delta champagne bronze fixtures. I coated the handles with this automotive gloss since its supposed to protect the finish against water. So far it’s worked like a charm. Very smooth and glossy finish and it matches my other fixtures almost perfectly. Unfortunately universal faucet replacements don’t come in the more modern colors, so this was a good alternative until I can afford to update the plumbing behind the wall and install the faucet I really want. If you follow the directions provided by the manufacturer, you shouldn’t have any bubbling or leathering. Spray it within two hours of applying your color coat or you’ll have to wait another two days

This website introducing “scratch resistant clear coating” but unfortunetly not true because I’m using currently and even after two days drying even scratching with nail. Very disappointing

Works great as a final coat and UV protection on my fiberglass camper top painted with rust oleum metallic paint and self etching primer. Turned out great and was able to color sand and polish and a couple weeks curing

Horrible. Peeled fully cured rustoleum enamel right off my part and ruined hours of work.

I painted the base color, it was nice and smooth. Waited till it dried then sprayed this clear coat. I saw white haze stripes every where. Waited till next day then wiped the haze but did not work. Touched the surface and it rough like low P number sand paper. I used fine sand paper to slightly sand it and surface get smooth but still have dull color not clear at all. I used wax and buffing machine to polish, the haze gone but color is not clear and is not glossy at all. I used 2 cans on one Tacoma hood. Price was OK but I lost 2 day of works for preparing and painting. Now I have to sand it out and paint again.

Even coat, fast drying. Used on a fiberglass ladder that had the protective layer worn away.

I gave it 48 hours in plenty of heat and windy days. This is a laquer based product being applied over an oil based rustoelum enamel. It's going to wrinkle every time. Had to learn this the hard way from the forums. They should stop selling this next to the enamel paints because they are incompatible. I believe you would have to let it cure for weeks or more to prevent the chemicals from reacting and causing wrinkling.

poor spray pattern - anything outside of center gets a messy matte overspray finish. I had to repeat and repeat and then eventually use rubbing compound and then polish to smooth out all of it.

Rust oleum has been making great paint products for as long as I can remember.I purchased the clear coat so I could take my first attempt at auto body.A guy hit my car on the way to work. Anyway it came out great! I received a nice check from his insurance and the entire repair only cost $150! And with the help of my local Home Depot and rust oleum it looks brand new.Thanks Home Depot!

This product helped me tremendously. It is saving me hundreds of dollars on car repairs. This is a temporary fix and my car looks great.

Work good, good coverage

Product claims to be gloss but after multiple attempts the finish was very flat. Very disappointing

There are a couple of problems. For one, it does not maintain the level of glossiness after drying that you obtained when spraying. In fact, the glossier you apply it, the more coarse/crackly it dries. You have to find the sweet spot. But it is never truly glossy like an automotive urethane. Clear in a can is hard to apply with any product, so gauge your expectations accordingly. But even still, it did a good job of restoring a vintage trailer, getting it fairly glossy. Also, it is more rain spot resistant than the inferior Krylon equivalent. Also, I hit a bad batch where it came out cloudy not mater the temperature or humidity (I bought a new temp/humidity gauge). Sprayed an older can right after and no problem. So some quality control. But Rustoleum gave good advice and offered to replace.

Good Stuff. I needed clear paint for part of my car that was dull. The clear coat was all I needed to get the job done.
