The prep work is the hardest part. Rollers fell apart but we had extra just in case but otherwise easy to roll on and the sprinkles were fun!

Do not go for Tan or Mocha color.
I selected Mocha color for my garage floor, which was a big mistake. I have a small garage [ 360 sq. ft.] and use the whole 2.5-car garage kit but still, the coverage was a challenge. Also after the job was done I could see spots where the bare floor [ grey spot] started to appear, at the time when the epoxy was being applied there were zero gaps and it all looked perfectly good. Cleaning was done thoroughly 3 times and application was done by professional painters. This is no way 2.5 car kit.

We need to know more to get to the bottom of this. Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Coating has excellent coverage and hide when applied as detailed in the enclosed instructions, if applied too thin, bare spots may be visible. Concrete is a porous substrate, with porosity varying from floor to floor. The more porous the concrete means more of whatever is being applied will soak into and bond with the concrete. Good product for garage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Rustoleum brand floor coating kit is best in market. This kit is meant for 2.5 car garage and served the same. Ofcourse this floor validating can be used not only for garage floor but also other areas like workshops, family rooms etc. gloss finish is good and shiny on the garage floor. Very happy with the finished floor how it turned. This 180oz kit covered all the garage floor which is like 400 sq ft. Kit is easy to use and was able to do diy and a complete floor turned out rock solid. And quite confident of not peeling off anything and hasn’t seen any cracking.

      Tedious Work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought it would turn out better or maybe be easier to apply than it was. This was my first attempt at floor coating and it did not go so well. I'll start with the good first. The burst pouch are very neat as you just roll one end into the other allowing the two parts to mix. That was easy and not messy at all. The decorative chips/flakes are fun to toss down and add a nice touch. Dries fairy quickly and I would say floor was ready for foot traffic 8-10 hours later as stated on box. The weather was not on my side but this can be applied at temps between 40-90° F and I believe I was no lower than 50° throughout the process so no issue there. No VOC's added so smell is bearable for sure. Now the bad is that the kit comes most supplies to finish the job but there is a lot of prep work required beforehand. I wish I would had known this because I had to purchase additional items before I could begin. Like I have paint brushes and the kit includes roller pads. However, I still needed to have roller frame, extension pole, and a stiff bristled broom just to name a few. Also needed to patch up any cracks or chips in the concrete. Then came the need to apply degreaser (not included) to the floor. There was just a lot of steps, prep work, and wait time than I thought it would be. I don't think it's worth the effort or time. I'm no expert, just an average homeowner, but I would leave this to the professionals.

        Mocha is too thin
I would not recommend the mocha color. it does not cover well. we used two boxes for a standard 20x20 garage and are now going to have to have a professional come out and do it again. the gray color might be ok.

That is not what we like to hear, Daresa! Our RockSolid 2.5 Garage Floor Kit will not have a different thickness regardless of the color used. Our solid color kits have been thoroughly tested, and will cover 450-500 ft² depending on the surface porosity and the thickness that the coating is applied. If the concrete is especially porous, such as a brushed concrete finish, it will absorb more of the coating, reducing coverage. The surface may be recoated to correct the issue if this occurs. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

          Do not purchase
Wow, how could I have not read the reviews on such an important purchase? First and foremost you should know that you will need twice as much + as the manufacturer recommends. If you must use this product, do not cause yourself an emergency as I had with my painter who figured out quite quickly there was no way we had near enough product, so I had to leave work and run and grab more because he could not stop painting of course. It doesn’t end there, the product that I brought him from Home Depot, the exact same product as we started with, was a different color when he put it down so now I have a two-tone garage. I have not heard back from Rustoleum yet. What a complete pain in the butt, I cannot put anything back in my garage

Thank you for sharing your experience. The coverage rate of Rust-Oleum RockSolid Garage Floor Coating is dependent on the surface condition, application method, and how thickly the coating is applied. Color variances can happen with improper mixing or changes in the temperature/humidity level during application. If needing further assistance, please give us a call at (888) 683-5667.

            2x Material Needed than advertised
I just had a professional put this product on my garage floor. All instructions were followed. I ended up using 2 x 2.5 garage kits for a 3 car garage... that wasn't enough so I had to buy a 1 car garage kit to get full coverage. Turned out decent, but not professional grade. Will likely have to do another coat.

The more porous the concrete means more of whatever is be applied to the surface will absorb into and bond with the concrete, this will reduce coverage.

              High Quality Epoxy! Beautiful Shine!
I applied this epoxy over a 10 year old existing epoxy. Rather than sanding down the surface I applied a garage floor primer. Highly recommend the rock solid epoxy floor kit. Really gives a wet look. Warning this product does start to harden after only 30minutes so work fast. My garage is slightly bigger than a 2 car garage and I had just enough using this 2.5 car kit. You don’t need to spread this on thick a little goes a long way. I ended up applying the rock solid clear coat to give it an additional layer of shine and protection. Even with out the clear coat it still has a very nice shine.

                Not a good product
My garage floor was prepped really well. Perfect condition for application. There is simply not enough product for what it is advertised as. I have a standard 2 car garage, I now have to go purchase more product for a quarter of the garage. Also, you can clearly see where I started the second bag from the box. How is that ok? I definitely am kicking myself for not checking reviews prior to purchase because all of the issues I have read happened to me. Not enough, both rollers provided were trash and broke, and the color discrepancy is blatantly obvious. Unbelievable that it costs as much as it does and all of the issues people have described over and over have not been resolved.

That's odd, Jess! When applying Rust-Oleum RockSolid Garage Floor Coating, it is essential to work with a wet edge to prevent lap marks. Thorough mixing is also needed to ensure a consistent color. The condition of the floor and how thick the coating is applied can also affect the final coverage of the coating. Using a more aggressive etch or older more concrete can case the surface to be more porous, which will soak up more of the coating. We want to try to make things right with you. Please give us a call at 888-683-5667 to talk with us!

Overall, I'm quite happy with the results. I read tons of reviews and watched a bunch of videos prior to my application. Quite honestly, I almost returned the floor covering to the store with all the negative comments and poor results from other reviewers. I'm glad I didn't. Here's the bottom line: If you want great results, it will require a lot of product and extensive preparation. Don't expect professional results if you only buy the minimal amount and plan to whip this out in an afternoon/weekend. I have a 3-car garage but only did the 2-car bay -- I'll do the single car next spring. My floor was in OK shape but some areas were severely pitted (see photo) and had significant alligator cracking. I bought a diamond blade disc for my small grinder, and spent about 5 hours grinding down the surface of the floor. I pressure watched the floor afterwards extensively and applied concrete etching. I don't think etching is required if you grind the floor, as the etching didn't seem to do anything. Then I let the floor completely dry -- for a week! I knew in advance that I planned to apply two coats - professionals will apply a couple coats so not sure why we should expect great results with only one thin coat. I also applied it fairly heavy. I used 1 pouch per 100 sqft - my two car garage required 4 pouches (two 2-1/2 garage boxes) ... for each coat. So, in total, I used 4 of the 2-1/2 car garage boxes. The first coat went on fine but I could still see much of the alligator cracks through the covering. I didn't put flakes on the first coat knowing I would apply a second coat, but I didn't like the tan color and switched to mocha which looks more like olive green. We got an early Oct snowstorm after the first coat, so I had to wait and apply the second coat about a week later. So ... to be safe, I again sanded the floor with 80-grit paper between coats to help with bonding. I had no issues with the second coat which also did a great job of hiding any of the small cracks. I applied the flakes after I completed each 10x10 foot section, and then the optional clear coat a couple days later. The clear coat covered 200 sqft. The results are great! Foam rollers - I used the included foam rollers without any issues. It seems like there are two designs. The older type has a straight seam along the length of the roller, while the newer design has a spiral seam and a red inside. I used ONE roller for each coat (4 pouches) with absolutely no issues. If you avoid 90-degree temps and apply the product fairly thick, you should have no issues with the rollers falling apart. Color mismatch - This is another common complaint but I had no issues with mismatched color between pouches or boxes. Apply it fairly thick and keep a wet edge, and you should be fine. Low coverage - This one is absolutely true. Plan on at least using twice as much as expected. In my case, because I used two coats, I used 4x as much product as advertised on the pakage.

                      Rocksolid Mocha
I order the Professional Rocksolid which includes 4 packs of the product, but no rollers, or chips. My new garage is 576 sq. ft. I powerwashed, etched, and moisture sealed the floor. I had some dark spots in the concrete and they appeared to be the result of some moisture in the concrete. In researching concrete i learned that new concrete can hold water for months. We had a very wet winter and I kept the new concrete wet for about a week in October for added strength. (It was hot in October before the rains.). I might add that I live on the edge of the Mojave desert. I still had some dark spots so I did a second coat of Rust oluem moisture stop just on the spots. Today it was a nice day and I coated the floor and my wife helped with chips and other support stuff. Everything went well, i puchase enough product, Four bags, to cover up to 1 thousand sq ft. I had 1 and 1/3 bags left so that as pretty close the Rust oleum recommendations. My wife ended up using almost a full 4 bags of chips. Drying now time will tell if it all works. I would like to say follow the instructions VERY CARFULLY, EVERY DETAIL!! I see why someone might have problems if you don’t.

If you are covering a one-car garage, do not buy one kit. It will not cover the entire floor. Buy two kits. Make sure that you have someone else helping. When you need the next bag of stuff, make sure you follow the 3 minute time to mix. This is not an easy project. Many hours were spent preparing the floor. We had several cracks. All cracks were filled, and the entire floor was sanded and vacuumed prior to applying RockSolid. We did not spread the confetti. We also had trouble with the consistency of the color and the roller marks. It's a very sticky product. Make sure there are not any bugs or debris blowing around. Protect the opening to the garage door while the floor is drying. Wait several days (we waited 6 days) before driving on it.

So far fantastic! I applied the RockSolid coating yesterday over well-worn EpoxyShield that was about 10 years old, and I really do not understand all of the negative reviews. I read the instructions a few times and watched a couple of videos on YouTube and it came out fantastic. It took me awhile to clean and sand the old epoxy, but that is the most important step. I tried to roll the product somewhat on the thin side due to all of the reviews stating that it does not cover what it claims, but I actually had some left over. My garage is 20'x22’ which is bigger than an average 2 car garage and I had to throw some away (completed half the garage at a time and used one pouch of A and B at a time). It dried to the touch the next morning and looked awesome. Much glossier than the EpoxyShield ever was and in fact the floor still looks wet, but it is not. I used RockSolid due to EpoxyShield needs higher temperatures to apply. I really didn't want to pay the extra $100 for the RockSolid, but now I believe it was worth it. You do need to complete your project within 1 hour. My wife and I coated half of the garage and it did take the entire hour to brush the edges, roll out the coating, and sprinkle the flakes. As time goes by the product slowly gets thicker and thicker as you pour it onto the floor, especially towards the end of the hour. Make sure you clip the crush bag with scissors so as the hole is not too big, as it comes out quite fast in the beginning and is difficult to pour the 2-3-inch ribbon (I would start with a small hole as you can always make it bigger). Personally, I do not like pouring the coating in 4-foot ribbons directly on the floor, but I guess there is a reason not to use a paint tray. The two rollers provided are very cheap quality as mentioned in other reviews; the first roller fell apart before finishing, we used both rollers to complete half of the garage. I will buy a quality roller for the other side of the garage. I will post another review later, if the RockSolid does not hold up to Rust-oleum’s claims, but so far, my wife and I are very happy with the outcome.

I'm sad to say that others had with this product I also had. After spending the entire weekend cleaning, prepping and patching our floors, I am beyond dissatisfied. The colors out of the same box did not match. I noticed as I was applying but thought it could be because the first bag of paint had already dried. Unfortunately that was not the case. The colors didn't match. Half way into the project for our 2 car garage I noticed that the 2.5 Garage Kit would not cover so I had to go and spend another $130 on a 1 car kit which hardly was enough. All in all, I spent close close to $400, 3 days of cleaning, prepping and painting and it looks like I used 2 completely different colors on my garage. I called Rust-oleum and I have a claim open on the product so we will see if they offer a full refund. I do not recommend this product - it should be recalled.

This is not what we like to hear! Each pouch of Rust-Oleum RockSolid Garage Floor Coating has a recommended coverage of 200-250 square feet. The coverage rate will be dependent on the surface condition and how thickly the coating is applied. Typically, recoating the surface should help correct any color variance issues as long as the coating is properly mixed and applied. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we look forward to continue to work with you to try to make things right with you!

There is NO way this covers a 2 car garage, let alone 2.5. I did get the entire package to distribute on the floor, but it was so thin, it really just looked like the concrete was wet. There was no color to it at all AND there was no shine at all; certainly not a high shine. I had to buy another package and put on a second coat. With that second coat, it does look good. But at the price they charge and the fact it clearly states only one coat is needed on the outside of the box, I have to rate this poorly. In retrospect, I would recommend someone buy a basic can of floor paint first, allow it to dry and cure. THEN go back over with this kit. My two stars is because I like the way it looks after paying double (double work too I may add) AND because I'm assuming it will hold up as promised. Pleased with the outcome but not what it took to get there. I've included a picture showing the difference between one coat and two.

Something is amiss here, Chris! We have carefully tested the coverage of our RockSolid 2.5 Garage Floor Kits, and each kit will cover 500 ft² when applied to a smooth, interior concrete floor. Garage floors are typically smooth, floated concrete, which will not excessively absorb the coating, allowing for easy, one coat coverage. If the concrete is broom-finished, rough, or in poor condition, the surface will absorb more of the material, reducing both the coverage and gloss of the coating significantly. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

Good: Looks great. Nice and shiny. Not slippery. No hot tire pickup. Bad: It took 4 complete 2.5 garage kits to actually cover 2.5 garages. Takes two coats if you want it to look like advertised. 3 of the kits were the same color. The 4th kit, labeled as Mocha, same part number, was a different shade of Mocha. We didn't know it was a different color and poured some out to paint. Since we knew it was going to take 2 coats any way we used the bag up and then ordered another Mocha kit. Two coats necessary because it develops cracks while drying. Photos show the cracks from one coat and the two different color mochas.

Let's get to the bottom of this, TJ! Please keep in mind that applying Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Coating too thick or over a damp surface, the coating can crack. We are also surprised to hear that you had such a difference between the pouches. Our products are held to a very tight color standard to prevent this type of result. Two-component systems are dependent on temperature, humidity, and the activation time of the coating can all affect the way the product cures, which can in turn affect the final gloss, color, etc. of the product. We hope you will give us a chance to try to make things right with you. Please give us a call at 866-765-4474 to talk with us.

Great Product, easy to use and looks great when done. Only drawback is it says 2.5 car garage, maybe my garage is deeper than most, Have to put it on thin to make it work. I was doing 7 car garage so had enough to finish the 2.5 garage and it took about half a bag more. Buy Extra and return what you don't use. The finished result is awesome!

My professional painting contractors applied this product to my 3 car garage. They used 2 to 3 times the indicated amount to cover the floor. The resultant finish was extremely uneven in color and totally unacceptable for a product of this cost. They now tell me that they might be able to "improve" the color mismatches by applying another coat at my expense and by using 2 or 3 more kits. Wow, if this is "normal" and considering that it was professionally applied, I would advise extra care before buying this product.

These factors can all affect the way the product cures, the final gloss, color, etc. of the product. Please keep in mind, some types of concrete are more porous than others and will absorb more paint, and for this reason, all of our coverage rates are approximate. I have seen all the reviews on this product. I decided to go ahead and use the product for my garage anyway. It came out great!!! After researching all Epoxy products, I found that the best way to get your floor ready is to grind with a 120 grit blade. Etching does work if your floor is not sealed or has very little wear and tear but grinding it will give you the best results. It took about 3 hours to grind it then spent two day filling the crack with the Rust-oleum repair product. I made sure the Floor was clean, then put the product down in a couple of hours. If you want to give it the best chance to come out great, then grinding is the way to go considering you are spending $400 for the product. Also, note that as everyone said, one 2.5 car garage box will not cover. You will need 1.5 to 2. It goes on very thin but you do need more than what they say. Hope this helps

I read the reviews and was concerned about coverage but figured my garage, being around 350 SF, was smaller than a standard 2.5 car garage and less than the 450-500 SF coverage listed on the kit. I applied both bags in the kit to my ~10 year old garage floor with little material left over. The next morning, there were many areas of the garage floor with little to no coverage (see pic). The box and instructions indicate only one coat is needed; from the little amount of product I had left over on the first coat, I don't believe it would be possible to apply one coat to achieve the desired results. The patching first coat required me to spend another $200 for a second kit. The second coat does look much better however the floor does have a few dull areas (see pic). To achieve a consistent high gloss look, a third coat would have been needed. I just applied the two coats 4-5 days ago so I cannot comment on the product durability.

Hmm, something is amiss here. Please keep in mind that a variance in surface porosity or surface preparation can affect the coverage of RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Coating Kit. I bought this product on the recommendation of the Home Depot paint rep. He said it was top of the line and everything I needed was in the box and I'd only need one coat. Well, he was half right, everything needed was included. However, there are two bags of paint (with parts A/B in each bag) which you need to mix thoroughly for 2 minutes per the instructions. I mixed it really well and started to apply in 4'x4' areas as recommended on the directions. After about a half hour, the paint started to cure while still inside the bag (instructions state in needs to be applied within an hour) and when applied came out a darker shade than when it first came out of the bag. This happened for each of the bags. Also, there is barely enough paint to cover a 2 car garage as I had to spread thin to get the job done. the two different shades of tan makes the flooring look real bad, I mean real BAD!!! I'm off to buy another coat to see if I can cover up this problem. I would not recommend to a friend.

Something is amiss here! Our RockSolid Garage Floor Kit should not begin to harden this quickly, and the color should not vary within the pouch. It is possible that the pigment in the pouch was not evenly distributed when the pouch was mixed, which caused a color variance during the application. A second coat should correct these issues. We recommend applying a second coat after the first has dried a minimum of 10 hours, and before the original coating has cured for 7 days. We need to know more to get to the bottom of this, please give us a call at 866-765-4474, we want to try to make things right. Rustoleum

Would not recommend this product! Left my new garage floor (2 months old) with an uneven blotchy finish. I spent a long time prepping the floor per recommendations and will now have to repaint the floor. Plus I bought a two car garage kit for a 320 sq ft garage and had just enough to cover.

That is not what we like to hear! Our RockSolid 2.5 Car Garage Floor Kit should cover 450-500 ft.² of smooth, interior concrete surface. More porous, or rough concrete will absorb more of the coating, decreasing coverage and may also create a blotchy or uneven surface. If this occurs, a second coat may be applied to even out the finish and provide a uniform glossy appearance. Rustoleum

I followed the directions and even let it dry after etching the concrete for extra hours yet the product dried streaky and was not worth the money! I did not even get the yield stated on the box. I had to use a 2.5 car garage kit and another 1 car garage kit to finish my 400SF garage. I have used their other products in the past and have had better results than this.

As a lot of people in these reviews have stated they are not even close with the coverage listed on the box, I would really like to see where they did there testing to get any one of their rocksold products to do what they state on the box as far as coverage, I read a lot about this product before purchasing, read the reviews watched the videos, I wanted to make sure I didn't have any problems, my garage is just about 400 square feet 22 years old and in very good condition, so after reading the reviews I thought it best to buy two, two car garage kits, as most were stating that they where not getting the coverage that is advertised, mind you they state a two car kit will do 450 - 500 sf. well after cleaning, prepping, and etching to there instructions I was ready to apply the coating, I applied it as they do in there video and I could not believe but two two car kits would not cover my 400 sf. floor there were bare spots all over the floor, I went to home depot the next day and purchased another one car kit hoping to cover the bare spots and it did the job but the colors are not even close, now I have almost $800 in this product and the floor is two different colors and looks terrible, this is unbelievably disappointing to say the least, and I am not even sure how to fix this now. I would definitely not recommend this product until they get there numbers right on the advertised coverage and the terrible color matching between boxes.

Painted the garage 2 weeks back, parked my car in it first time last night and see hot tire pickup this morning when I moved the car out. Now I have 2 bald spots in the middle of the painted surface and 2 other spots with considerable paint stuck to the tire. The remaining paint hardened and I can't patch/repaint that portion! You can say whatever to hide the issue that paint didn't cure enough, it was raining outside, I waited 2 long weeks :-(

Uh oh! Peeling can be attributed to either surface contamination or due to a very thin layer of weakened concrete (called 'laitance') on the surface. Laitance originates from the pour/ application of the concrete itself, but this weakened layer can also be attributed to exposure to traffic or chemicals over time (including road salts). Generally, the acid etching in the kit should be sufficient to remove this, but depending on the strength of the concrete some of this weakened concrete may remain. Recoating the affected areas generally solves the problem, as the weakened material also comes loose, exposing the more solid concrete underneath. Rustoleum

Pros: easy to follow instructions and packaging. Cons: the quantity is enough for a 2 car garage and I had to buy another 1 car garage epoxy kit to complete my 3 car garage space. Had nothing left over - so it is NOT a good VALUE for the $ paid. The concrete stripper works only well in patches, as it did not clean-away simple oil stains or water marks. * very uneven colors for the mocha-brown after the recommended 24 hour 'curing' period Bought 2.5 kit with 1 car garage kit for my 3 car garage space (~ 600 sq ft) - overall disappointed with the quantity they claim on the literature vs actual usage!
