Worst ice maker ever!!!
Love the size of the fridge and the freezer, but the ice maker has been nothing but trouble since the fridge was purchased. Always freezing up. Disappointing since so many people recommended Samsung for appliances. Currently in the market for a new fridge just because we are tired of using ice cube trays in a fridge that shouldn’t require that, but having a hard time considering Samsung or Dacor just given the experience with this fridge.

    Worst investment
    Ice maker broke within 2 years. The left door sill also broke within 2 years. WHen I close the door, I have to push the sill inwards for it to close properly. And for the past 2 years the inside of the fridge no longer cools properly. The compartment where the fan, condenser, defrosting element (the area behind the cover in the back of the fridge) freezes up. Therefore the frozen block of ice won't allow the fan to turn on to distribute cold air. We've tried fixing this more than I want to admit. Been "hearing" and reading there were multiple design flaws with this fridge. Never will buy Samsung again

      Drawer went out
      Our flex zone draw stopped showing the temperature and we are unable to select between options. Now it freezes the items that we have in the drawer and is ruining so many items. This happened right after we just had someone hear to fix the ice maker and it went out of warranty. We had so many issues. What a disappointment and a waste as we have had it for approximately 3-4 years I believe. For this amount of money it should last way longer.

        Bought new, Great refrigerator but ruined by poor icemaker. no longer makes ice. Unfortunately I can find no ice buildup in the icemaker so I can only assume it’s something mechanical.very disappointed as I have all Samsung appliances in my kitchen

              Many Samsung refrigerators have a design defect in the ice maker .. they do not have a fix for it and it will fail not matter how many times they fix it .. they are aware of the issue and continue to sell this model and others .. class action lawsuit in action .. BeWare do not buy this !

                purchased this refrigterator on Oct. 1, 2018 and was delivered and installed on Oct. 8, 2018. Started having ice maker issues about a year in. Twice, so far, no ice has been made! Just this weekend (Labor Day weekend, 2020) the ice maker was so frozen up it took brute strength to get the ice bin out. Once we did, it was all frozen up inside, like one of those old time manual defrost refrigerators. I spent about 30 minutes with the hair dryer defrosting my frost free refrigerator! I'm not a happy camper with this product. I should not have to call for service on an appliance that is less than 2 years old. I noticed that this has been discontinued but, even so, I'll not consider Samsung again when I'm in the market for appliances. And apparently, I'll be in the market for a refrigerator a lot sooner than I expected.

                  [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we bought ours approximately 1 year ago, these are our thoughts a year in. first, we love the touch screen controls on the left door. controls are easy to use. flex zone drawer is great for soda cans and cheeses. freezer is ok for a weeks worth of food, any more and you'll need a dedicated freezer in the basement or garage. power cool mode is great for power loss recovery. only complaints are ice maker doesn't keep up and during summer ice melts in box as it is stored in fridge, and light scratches won't come out of stainless steel panels. buy this unit on sale, it's not worth full price.

                    NO ICE NO WATER
                    This item was purchased back in April of 2017. The only good thing I can say about this refrigerator is the quality of water. After a while, the ice stopped working and the water dispenser pressure was super low. I decided to buy a new filter. The instructions said it would take a few hours for things to be restored. Literally still no ice, no water after a full 24 hours. The product is nice, but the functionality is terrible after a while. For you to spend close to $2500 and for a “BRAND NAME” refrigerator, you shouldn’t be having these problems. I see now it is discontinued; LOL I wonder why. Based on these reviews, I see I am not the only one.

                        shards of ice remain in the ice shoot melt and fill up the drip tray and must be emptied 5-6 times a day. this is an outstanding refrigerator except for the ice maker drip.

                            I am so disappointed in this fridge. We purchased it in 2014 and luckily bought the Home Depot 5 year protection plan. Starting in 2017 we have had 2 serious issues every year. The fan, compressor and coils have all been replaced. I renewed the protection plan another 3 years and as I write this have just opened up my second claim for 2019. The fan is making terrible noises and probably frozen again. The ice maker freezes every 2 weeks and we have to manually thaw. We replace the filter every 6 months and have done everything the repairmen advise. It's still not working properly. Ice cubes get stuck in the chute and melt so you get a big splash of water with your ice or it drips out into the tray leaving a water mark. The design it terrible. I will buy an LG or GE profile when the protection plan expires.

                              This refrigerator (Samsung Model RF28HMEDBWW) is a piece of JUNK. Fortunately, I bought a 5 year extended warranty thru Home Depot. Otherwise, repair costs would have exceeded the original cost of the refrigerator. Both Home Depot and Asurion, the warranty issuer, should "light a fire under Samsung's butt" over this turkey of an appliance. When I emailed Samsung's US CEO, a person on his staff called me to inform me "they had experienced no quality issues. What a crock of "natural fertilizer!" During the 1st 4 years owning this lemon, the icemaker has completely failed three times. It also leaks water which runs out of the icemaker and freezes into a large clump that I have to melt and remove about every 4-5 weeks. Then, the most recent warranty claim was for the refrigeration area temperature controller. This controller failed, causing the formation of a massive ice chunk behind the inside panel of the refrigerator. Some of the ice also formed INSIDE the refrigerator on the surface of this panel. It took the technician over 45 minutes to melt this ice using his portable steamer device. Check out the attached pictures! Needless to say, I will NEVER buy anything else under the Samsung brand, not even a toothpick, and certainly nothing electronic like a TV, appliance or smartphone. Asurion has emailed me that if the icemaker fails again before the end of the 5-year warranty, they will "discuss replacement options." If we get to that, I will ask for a Whirlpool as the replacement. NEVER had a problem with their products --- all lasted more than 10 years without a single repair. I replaced a functioning 22 year old Whirlpool with this Samsung LEMON. Bad decision!!

                                  Icemaker has BIG issues
                                  Ice make has major issues. French door ice makers icing, frosting up and not working. When warmer, moister air enters the ice area, frost is formed which stops the fan that is above the evaporator in the back of the ice area on some models and this is one of them. I have not been able to make ice properly since I've owned it. You have to constantly manually deice and then turn the icemaker back on only to have for about a month before you have to deice it again.

It has awesome features and is very attractive, easy to locate foods, plenty of space and very quite. The interior lighting is great and we have had many compliments on it. It has also been very reliable. It has never required service. . Cons.. The water filter can be very difficult to remove after a while and it is quite expensive to replace. The LED light that indicates water on door panel has gone dim and is difficult to see in daylight.

The ice maker is fairly quite too, as it only makes noise when the ice tray empties. And if it makes to much noise for you???? Wow, you are probably anode with crying babies and barking dogs too. But our new SAMSUNG has worked very well. We love us some SAMSUNG TECH!!!!

                                          It is very early yet, as I have had this refrigerator for less than a week, so this review cannot address long term reliability issues. On the positive side, the appearance is great and the fridge seems to be operating properly. It maintains the individually set temperatures in three separate compartments (fridge, freezer and "flex zone"). The water and ice dispensers seem to work as expected. This particular model is spacious, well lit and the controls are easy to understand and operate. This refrigerator runs amazingly quiet compared to our 20+ year old Kenmore, which was louder but not especially annoying. You can hear the sound of the icemaker as it discharges ice into the storage container, but it is not bad. On the negative side, one of the doors was slightly misaligned (a fraction of a inch lower than the opposing door). This must be a recurring factory issue because a few "door adjustment" snap ring type washers were included in the documentation package for that very purpose. I adjusted the door myself using the washers provided - it was not difficult. The most difficulty I had was figuring out which instructions to use among the three sets of instructions provided. Only one instruction set will match the particular door hinge on your fridge.

                                          I've had two repairman over to fix the ice maker and both have said I should not have purchased a Samsung refrigerator due to the amount of problems they service. They also told me it's a bad idea to buy a refrigerator with an ice maker in it. They said the ice maker should always be in the freezer, because when it's in the refrigerator warm air gets inside of it. Then it builds up ice around the ice maker due to that warm air. If you buy a refrigerator please learn from my mistakes and get one with an ice maker in the freezer.

                                            Fantastic purchase! My husband and I love this Samsung refrigerator. We especially love the outside middle drawer where we store all lunch meats, cheeses, bacon , butter and eggs leaving so much more room inside for more items where two shelves lift up for tall items. The crispers are large and we have enough room for one side to store our veggies and other side for our fruit. Loving the flex handles! The lower freezer has an awesome hidden drawer where we store our ice cream, popcycles and extras leaving room below for a large Turkey and all dinner meets and then there is a shelf that goes across that is out of the way where we store ice packs and stuff Incase our grandchildren get booboos or us older folk have aches and pains. This Fridge is absolutely Beautiful and we are very happy. Service was outstanding too.
