I found this label dispenser to be cleverly designed. There's a flip-out door for each digit with a lip that the tape stays stuck to. I can easily pull out the amount needed - as little as 1/4". Then shut the door and pull up to cut the tape. The print resists moisture and rubbing, but can be scratched off with a fingernail or wiped off with alcohol, so this might not be suitable for some environments. It sticks to wire insulation well and is easy to remove without leaving adhesive behind.

Nice Wire Marker Tape
The #0 - #9 Wire Marker Tape Dispenser, works very well made by 3M, which carriers great products. Easy to use open the number you want, pull out enough tape for wire size, close and cut off with built in cutter and wrap around wire twice. Good for permanent or just use for a reference then peel off. Marker tape has many other uses like spark plug wires and distributor cap for reference, speaker wire etc. Put it in a drawer or hang on the wall. Happy Numbering!

Number tape dispenser
The 3M™ ScotchCode™ Wire Marker Tape Dispenser contains numbers from 0-9. The tape used inside the 3M dispenser is made of a polyester film that has an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive. You pull out and tear off the amount of tape you need for your particular application, such as marking wires, terminal blocks, panels, etc. I found the number identification to be most helpful in identifying the cables at the rear of my stereo unit with speakers and other audio components and the wall receptacles in various rooms of my house with the number on the circuit breaker in my AC power panel that powers that receptacle. I remove the wall plate and find the circuit breaker number that supplies power to that receptacle. Saves time when I need to either shut off power or when the power is off at a receptacle.

A great idea, but a little cumbersome to use
BACKGROUND: I'm an avid DIYer with over 30 years in the electronics industry. I am always working and reworking electrical and electronics in my home and shop. I have use several methods to identify cable and wire; tape and sharpie, label makers, wire marker books, and pieces of romex with a sharpie. Evaluating the 3M Wire Marker Tape Dispenser was a welcome opportunity. FIT, FINISH, AND QUALITY: This is a nice little product. The replaceable tape rolls are held securely in place and are easy to read. The hanging loop is a nice option for keeping the dispenser close-at-hand. The tape itself appears durable and the numbers are easy to read on the tape. USE: The tape is a little thin, which makes it a little flimsy when pushing it around a piece of cable or wire in a difficult location. Once stuck on it's easy to wrap around the wire/cable and seemed to stick well on standard romex. If you like to have your wraps lay nicely on top of each other the tape is fairly easy to adjust. Wrapping numbers side-by-side was pretty easy as well. The most difficult part of using the dispenser is actually dispensing the tape. I had to unclip the cover, use my fingernail to peel the tape from the cover, pull out what I wanted, and then pull upward to cut the piece off. Unlike a regular tape dispenser that has an area you can grab the tape to pull the next piece, this dispenser cut off where the tape exits. It is possible to put your finger on the tape to hold it when you tear it, but the only other way is to close the cover, when also sticks the tape to the cover. So you are in a repeating loop of: open cover, peel tape, close cover, tear tape. If I was running the same numbers it would probably be easier. But for tagging one or two wires, or a series of different numbers it becomes more cumbersome that using peel and stick wire markers. For the price point it would be difficult for 3M to make the dispenser easier to use. I will use this, but less than their wire-marker book. SUMMARY: Adequate for those times a wire-marker book won't work.

Product is coming in a small plastic box, where all numbers are rolled in. The stickers are very small to handle. Also there are some graphical instructions on the plastic box letting you know how to easily put labels on and cut them but it was really not easy to understand. I will use this to tag my cabling in my old Corvette, I hope they will hold their glue long time.

Whether you are a Home Owner or Professional this label system is good to have in ones toolbox. The numbered labels are primary designed for use in the electrical trade to label wires, BUT they can be used on many other applications. As it contains mini tape rolls for 0-9 numbers, the numbering possibilities are very broad. The dispenser itself is well designed and easy to use. For what it is, it good value (when broken down to "per dispenser")

This wire marker tape dispenser is great to mark your wires with so you can keep track with where they go. I like it very much helps me identify my wires when I am hooking things up and together. I have solar panels and this is a great way to mark it and put where each one goes saves me a whole lot of time doing it this way. I will be getting another when this one runs out.

I have an amateur recording studio in my home and have more wires than you can imagine. I used the product to mark both ends of the wires so when I connected one unit to another I did so accurately, without having to guess if I had done it correctly. The dispenser is easy to use and the numbers on the tape sections are clear easy to read. The product truly represents the quality of 3M products that I have always known. I would recommend this product.

I used these #'s while wiring my new 3 car garage & bonus room above. I not only used the tape #'s on the wires but also in each electrical box and behind the wall plates. That way if down the road I need to replace a plug or switch, I just have to take the plate off and see the breaker # that needs to be turned off. No more shouting "is the light off now???" or calling on cell phones to use as an intercom! LOL I wish the # and tape were just a little bit bigger for home electrical work, it seems to me that the size is maybe meant more for CAT wiring to low voltage wires, but still works fine for home AC wires. I liked the loop at the top to hang on my tool belt, making it easy to get to. One reviewer mentioned that they didn't like the individual covers, but it keeps the tape clean if you accidently drop it in sawdust!

    Another Good Idea from 3M
This is kind of a neat product for dispensing wire markers. The dispenser comes with 10 little reels of numbers printed on an adhesive tape. Each reel's tape is 8 feet long. The numbers are printed at a pitch of 3/16", which translates to 512 individual "numbers" per 8 foot length. If you use 1" worth of tape for each wire you will be able to label 96 wires with the same number before the reel goes empty. Replacement reels are available from Home Depot. You push out the old reel from the dispenser with the eraser-end of a standard pencil to pop out the empty reel and then push the new reel into the dispenser using your fingers. A serrated blade makes it easy to cut-off the tape to your desired length. The adhesive sticks well to the wire insulation and to the overlapped tape. The packaging makes it easy to use and store the labels, but I think using the flat sheets of labels stuck to plastic cards is overall faster to use. The product is made in the USA. Replacement reels of "letters" and assorted "colors" of tape are available at electrical supply houses, though not from HD, but then most users will only need "numbers"

    very handy
this is a very handy tool, especially for those of us who are not really "electrically inclined"... With this wire marker kit it is very easy to remove, cut wires and then ensure that they all go back together in the proper order. I use these a lot when doing re-wiring under the dash of cars since most wiring harnesses look like a bowl of worms. Simply wrap 2 identical numbers to a wire, cut in between the tape, match the numbers when you hook back up and you are in business.

Best way to differentiate cables and wire in complex installatons.
I have to perform lots of cable runs for data control circuits, networks, audio/video systems, and closed circuit surveillance. I end up with lots of cables that look pretty much identical and are hard to differentiate. Using this dispenser, I can easily mark the wires on both ends with corresponding numbers. This allows me to pull cables and know exactly what goes where during installation. As I usually pull a few extra cables for future upgrades and additions, I don't always use every wire right away. These labels help me to know what is what, whether it is used now or later on. The numbers included are 1 through 9 and 0. This makes creating any number easy. The carrying case with built in hanger keeps it easily within reach as I have it clipped to my electrical bag. Another nice feature is the serrated cutter for the tape that makes it easy to get the right size small pieces. It's also nice that the holder snaps shut to keep everything in place and clean. If you routinely do electrical work or pull large amounts of cable and wire, this should be a must have in your tool bag.
