I always use a Scotts 4-step seasonal program and it seems to work well. The bags are the perfect size for my yard...BUT, I just put down the 'Early Spring' bag on my lawn. There were huge clumps of fertilizer throughout the bag (like golf ball size and bigger)....some of the tiny pebble clumps could be broken up by hand, but the larger ones were as solid as stone. I'd say maybe about 1/3 of the bag was clumps. The suggested spreader setting was 3...I had to crank it up to 9 for it to spread

Very pleased with results of the Scotts fertilization program. Have used it for many years with great success. Gives my property curb appeal. The program addresses both weed control and feeding. Use in early spring, spring, summer and fall. Would recommend.

This is my second year using this product, and so far so good. It's a little pricey though. I'd still recommend it to anyone who likes to have a nice lawn.

I have been using Scotts Fertilizer on my lawn for over 20 years but the Scotts Lawn Fertilizer Program makes it very convenient to receive all of the fertilizers at one time. Since I started Scotts products my lawn has never looked better and I am constantly getting complements on the condition of my yard. I had a friend from South Carolina exclaim that she has never seen greener lawn before. I live in the Desert Southwest where water conservation is very important and with water efficient sprinklers combined with a healthy lawn Scotts is the only way to go.

The blue Crabgrass Preventer bag sent as part of this package is smaller than the others. The bag packaging states it is for treating 4,000 feet - not 5,000 as specified online. The other bags were the right size. As this was online only, will now need to go buy another bag so I have enough.

It is really nice that they conveniently send you all of the fertilizers that you will need for the year. I have used the spring and summer bags so far. You need a spreader to apply this fertilizer. I purchased a rotary hand spreader. The bags tell you what setting you need to use. I am no sure if these have been working or not. My lawn doesn't really seem any greener or stronger but I don't want to stop. I also haven't had any problems with burning or dead spots. I will continue to use these.

The Scotts TurfBuilder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food, the first step of the Scotts 15,000 sq. ft. Northern Lawn Fertilizer Program for Bermuda, Bluegrass, Rye, Tall Fescue, and Bent Grass (4-bag) program, has been applied to my lawn in accordance with the application instruction on the bag’s label, and it has produced a dense, green grass lawn with absolutely no trace of crabgrass. I applied this product with my rotary lawn spreader. This TurfBuilder product clearly does the job right, the first time. I am very pleased with the result.

This a great set of fertilizers for small lawns, up to 5,000 sq ft, maybe a little more. My lawn is roughly 10,000 ft and I use double this amount but have stretched the bags out for larger areas with effectiveness. In general, if you follow the directions on the bags, you will see great results. Especially with Weed and Feed, if you do not follow the directions you will see little results. Halts Herbicide: Pendimethalin N-P-K ratio 26-0-3 This can be applied in early spring/late winter and handles crab grass pretty well but dont expect it to stop any other weed from germinating. It works by preventing crabgrass seeds from fully germinating. The protection lasts about four months. I try to apply this before a light to moderate rain so it coats the soil well. This has to be applied EARLY, just before temps get in the high 50s or 60. If the soil is then disturbed after application, the protection stops. Weed and feed: Herbicides: 2,4-D and Mecoprop-P Nitrogen 28% Potash: 3% Sulfur: 4% This must be applied at the right time and it will kill a lot, but not all weeds. A few conditions must exist before applying: -The lawn must be wet (this helps the granules stick to weeds and for the herbicide to kill them). If the grass is not wet, the weed killer particles will simply fall to the soil and no weeds will die. -No rain within 24 hours or more (rain will wash the granules off the weeds and the fertilizer potentially off the lawn) -Weeds must be growing Do not rush to apply this in the spring! Wait until the weeds are out and growing! I applied this on a morning where rain had just stopped and we had no more rain for 48 hours. This can also be applied early when there is due on the grass which means getting out there before 730 am for me. I slightly overlapped on my passes with my broadcast spreader. It ended up working pretty well, helping to kill some young wild violets, dandelions and chickweed. It also killed some plantain and clover (which surprised me). A good tip is to clean your spreader after. There will be a lot of the weed and feed stuck in the wheels. Summerguard: Pesticide: bifenthrin NPK Ratio: 20-0-8 This is a nitrogen rich fertilizer which helps grass survive dry spells and heat. Its active ingredient is the pesticide bifenthrin which will control/kill the bugs listed below. These bugs, to include ticks, ants, chiggers and fleas are real pests in the summer time. If you want an easy way to apply pesticides, this product can work for you. I use limited pesticides on my lawn as I worry about disturbing my massive earthworm colony. The product label says to apply this between July and August. If you have a dry season, apply Summerguard a little earlier, you don't want this sitting on the soil with little rain. Listed bugs are: ants, armyworms, billbugs, chiggers, chinch bugs, crickets, fleas, grasshoppers, mole crickets, mealy bugs, sod webworms (lawn moth larvae), spiders, ticks, weevils. Winterguard Nitrogen: 32% Potash: 10% Sulfur: 5% This is a great fertilizer to put on your lawn just before winter, especially with the increased potash and sulfur for root development during dormancy. I apply this every year in November, after any new grass has established itself. It helps the lawn come roaring back in the spring. I like to apply it just before a light to moderate rain.

I also find it to be a slight cost advantage to buy the lawn care package vs buying each product separately and it assures you will get the right product because the specific product is not always available in your area when you need it. Usually if I spot a weed I will just get my tool and pop it out, but occasionally, as my neighbors don’t do any weed control, I resort to chemicals to clean things up. And, even with mulching, once in a while the grass needs a little help with nutrients. This 4-pack assortment of options for lawn treatment is very convenient. It consists of a crabgrass preventer with fertilizer, a summer lawn fertilizer with insect control, a fall lawn fertilizer focused on root development, and a standard weed and feed mix. Rather than discuss all the information listed on the back of the bag for use, application, precautions, etc., I took photos that can be seen as part of my review. For best results, be sure to read and follow the instructions and warnings on the 4 different products. If you are dealing with crabgrass, according to Brad Fresenburg, MU Extension Plant Pathologist, the best time to apply a pre-emergent herbicide is when the temperature in the top one inch of soil has been 55 degrees F for five consecutive days. Once the soil temperatures reach 55 degrees, annual weed seeds begin to germinate. If you apply the herbicide too early in the spring, it may break down and become ineffective before the end of the germination cycle. So, it’s really important to get a pre-emergent weed control product on early enough to be effective but not so early that the product breaks down and losses its effectiveness before crabgrass and other weeds emerge. And a late snow fall won’t hurt the effectiveness of the product, in fact moderate moisture increases effectiveness. Properly timed application and 1/2” ground moisture equals good results when using a pre-emergent such as the Scott’s Halts Crabgrass Preventer included in this 4-pack. I appreciated the bright yellow color of the small granules of this mix giving me visual confirmation of good even coverage while spreading. No guarantee/warranty information noted. Made in the USA.

I got these four bags of fertilizer and weed control to take care of my lawn care for the whole growing season. Normally I would just by just buy one bag for the time of season that I needed. This is a very good value of a quality product. I have been using Scotts products for many years and have had reliably good results. With this program of fertilizer, weed and insect control, I've got it all covered for the season.

This is great combo product offering by Scotts for a complete season (4 applications) of fertilizer/weed control products for larger yards. (15,000 sq ft.). This combo includes Scotts early Spring fertilizer plus crabgrass pre-emergent, a late spring Weed and Feed, a summer "boost" lawn feed, and finally a fall winterizer that encourages root growth. This is a great program for Northern Lawns of Bermuda, Bluegrass, Rye, Tall Fescue, or Bent Grass. Scotts products are dependable and when applied properly yield a healthy and great looking lawn. The combo program is a good value and sets you up for success in having a beautiful lawn year around!.

Scotts has been a real letdown lately. They send out advertisements that they can't honor. What good is a sale if you have no product to sell.

How is this product out of stock already. I order this plan every year. This is ridiculous

Every time I go to order this lawn care plan, it is out of stock. What gives?

If I could give it zero starts I would! This is the third Scotts product I have bought over the years. This time I learned my lesson to stay away! This burned out my new sod lawn! Never again!

I never miss a treatment buying the entire fertilizer bundle at once!

I relocated to Illinois from a Country Club property in California where I never did lawn work. Moved in 2019. Property was beautiful, lawn was not good, on fact awful. So I went to work with the Scotts 4 Step Program. At first I expected faster results and actually sent on a refund request per Scott’s guarantee. But this is what I know in 2023. Their products are awesome. It does not happen in one season. Every year my lawn is better. I used to walk the lawn with a weed puller and could pull hundreds of weeds. I just walked my lawn and found a few clovers. That’s it. Could not find a single broad leaf weed. Not one on an acre property. Zero. Get on the 4 Step program and be patient. Next year you will see significant progress. And each year will be just like that. You will be on the path for the best lawn in your neighborhood. On closing, I came in from not finding one weed and felt obligated to write this review because Scott’s deserves the accolades.

I just switched from the 4 step method to the turf builder. So far the results seem to be the same.

Scotts product works fine. What doesn’t work is the fact that Home Depot is EXCLUDED in the Scotts $20 rebate for these 4 items. Why?
