The product must stick to weed leaves to be effective and be left undisturbed for 24 hours after application. You should notice the weeds begin to curl and yellow a few days after the application due to the excessive growth this product triggers. The weeds will die within a 2-4 week period, depending on temperature conditions. Temperatures must consistently be between 60 and 90 degrees F. Outside this range, the weeds will slow their growth and not absorb the control. This is also true if you are under heat or drought stress, as the weeds will not be actively growing if they do not get sufficient water.

To control crabgrass and other listed spring germinating weeds, Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food should be applied in early Spring, before the 3rd or 4th mowing and before temperatures are regularly in the 80's F. Water in well a few days after applying.
