Beautiful wood. It worked great on my staircase.

Home Depot says it's red oak but I received white oak. Had white oak been a choice I would have ordered it. The description needs to be accurate.

Good quality, use linseed oil on the riser and tread to achive a beautiful finish. Consistant high quality finish of all material purchased. Customer service and install instructions complimented the product and completed job in one day.

In the end, we've been very happy with the stairs. They have been sanded, stained, and finished and are awaiting installation. Getting them to this point has been less than ideal. First of all, we specifically requested that they be delivered onto our front porch. They were dropped in the middle of the driveway where they got rained on. Fortunately we caught them early enough where no serious damage resulted. Then upon opening we discovered some had some damage - mostly just imperfections in the wood, but a few were split and crushed in a way that indicated they were dropped. Not a big deal though. We just retuned them and ordered replacements. But these also came with similar damage. Makes us question the level of quality control coming out of the warehouse. In the end we determined to move ahead and use the "good side" of the wood rather than wait for more replacements. The finished product will still look amazing. The process could have been made easier by THD. Thanks for asking.

I'm a novice to this type of project - but ordered these and the corresponding stair retreads to spruce up my existing staircase (in my 125+ year old home). My home is a historic duplex - so my staircase is a bit more narrow than most, I would guess. I ordered these so I could get 2 stairs per each tread (and the same with the riser). I had the product delivered (to the chagrin of my UPS driver lol) - all arrived in good condition - after sanding/staining/polyurethaning - they turned out just perfect. (It's a good amount of work - but I prepped the stair treads and risers in 2 days - and sawed/installed them in 2 more - i'm not the most proficient DIYer). I couldn't be happier with this product!

Just like the Stairtek stair treads I ordered, these Red Oak risers are extremely high quality, both in the grain of the oak, the lack of flaws and the precise dimensions. And they match the treads perfectly. All 16 risers I ordered were flawless and beautiful, well glued Red Oak boards, cut to precisely the correct dimensions.

Good workmanship and quality material.

If you have a good table saw just buy some 3/4" oak boards and cut them yourself. It will be cheaper in the longrun.

Mostly ok but the quality could have been better. All of the treads and risers had a good side, but several had 2 bad sides that required a lot of filling and sanding. One had termite or carpenter ant holes going through both sides....at close to $100 per step I'd expect better quality control.

The only issue I had is all were not flat. I had ordered 14. Over half were not flat. Not having a planer it made more work to get the square and fot the stairs properly. Otherwise they are attractive with good grain. Stained and finished really well.

Excellent quality throughout. Straight, flat and negligible flaws. Slight milling marks that were easily removed with orbital sander.

I am really happy with the red oak unfinished raisers. There were no cracks in the 11 pieces I purchased. They did need a lot of sanding before staining. They held the stain well. I did condition the wood before staining. I only gave 4 stars because I feel some sort of brief instructions would have been helpful. Remember to put glue on top of the riser so the tread sticks to the front.

Perfect Riser. I used the black gel stain on it, 2 coats and it was beautiful. Good quality wood.

Size is just right to save my stair project. Price is so reasonable.

Risers are in really good shape. Not a full board though.
