I have never used self-drilling screws, but these were easy to use. The most difficult part was finding the correct pilot hole size. The package says see the package front, but I could not find a drill bit size. I sheared off several screws using too small of holes. The correct size was 9/64". I used these screws to attach 3/4" pine to an i-beam and it perfectly worked.

They work ok some drill tips came off and others would not drill. I used them on mild steel 1" box steel.

They're hard, they screw, and they screw REAL good. What else is there to say? If you're looking to screw, or get screwed, you need these. Hard.

Always like the self tapping screws, though they have been shearing off alot more lately...best only for soft metals.
