We bought just the plain 1x4 and it’s not really what it looked like in pictures. Ours didn’t have any knots. It’s rough but doesn’t have a cool rough sawed look. It’s basically an expensive 1x4 that wasn’t planed down very nice. I’m sure the pre finished option would be better if you were looking for something like that.

These pieces are very scratched, and one piece arrived spilt in two. They are not supposed to be painted since they come with a coating, but they will need to be sanded and painted. I could have bought better quality wood.

If you’re looking for consistency DO NOT BUY
The thickness and color of the boards varied between boxes, and even within the same box. Some are light gray others almost black. Some measured as thin as 2/3 inch and others were a full inch thick. It took a lot of unnecessary work to get the joints to line up with shims or cutting the boards to match. Many of the boards are warped or covered in so much sap they aren’t useful. The worst part is now I will likely have to give UFP/Home Depot more money to replace the trash boards they sent me.

These were exactly what I needed to finish off a shiplap wall I had just created. Unfortunately, you didn’t have the shiplap to match so was purchased elsewhere. That store didn’t have the trim. The color was perfect.

how do i feel about buying a board at home...
how do i feel about buying a board at home depot and getting this email to review the board? i think someone in marketing might want to re-evaluate bothering their customers for the sake of data analytics. the board is wood. it is nice. there is nothing special about it
