That is not what we like to hear! Our Varathane Sanding Sealer is water-based, so it will appear white in the can, and dry crystal clear on the surface. Due to it being a water-based sanding sealer, it may cause some grain raise when applied to bare wood, but will prevent grain raise for subsequent coatings such as a water-based polyurethane. Sanding is required after application of a sanding sealer, which will remove any grain raise in the process. If a solvent-based sanding sealer is desired, we recommend applying our Zinsser Bulls Eye SealCoat Universal Sanding Sealer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Zinsser-1-qt-SealCoat-Wood-Sealer-824H/202070456 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
