We HAD beautiful grass, just needed to kill a few weeds. Now our entire front lawn is completely dead. Followed directions as indicated on bag. Highly DO NOT recommend.

Will never buy this product again. Burnt or killed most of my grass leaving a lot of the weeds. Tried to save a few bucks but never again. We have even had more rain than normal in this area.

I bought the Vigoro Weed & Feed because at the time the Home Depot was out of the Scotts. What a Mistake! IT KILLED MY SOD!! applied to damp grass with my spreader at product recommended setting. I applied when it was not hot weather either. After I applied, withing one day I saw noticeable dead lawn streaks where the fertilizer was spread. I just paid for a new sod lawn last year, and thanks to Vigiro/Home Depot, I have to dig up large pieces of it in the spring next year and start over and spend money. I plan to call and see what type of compensation they will give me.

It has been 2.5 weeks since applying this product to my lawn and I actually have a lot more weeds than when I started with it. In have used other lawn care products that have worked out very well, I switched it up this time to save a few bucks, boy was that a mistake. This product is not worth the plastic it is wrapped in. I strongly advise against buying this. The worst part is, the next feeding is meant to be the fall/winterizer feeding and I cant even apply for weeds again. If you are going to make a product that doesn't work, why make a product at all. Where do I get my money back?

Vigoro Weed & Feed comes in a 15,000 square foot bag. It is applied in a Scotts rotary spreader set at 4.5. On a morning with no rain forecast for two days — the instructions say “no rain or watering for 24 hours”, I applied the Weed & Feed with my Scotts rotary spreader set at 4.5. I had first sprinkled the area of application, about 20 feet by 50 feet, an area with broadleaf weeds, with a hose and spray nozzle. Then the Weed & Feed went on quickly, and I could see that it was sticking to the leaves of the weeds. Some went onto my boots, which I brushed off. The herbicide is taken in by plants through leaves, and it kills weeds because most weeds have broad leaves and absorb plenty of the herbicide, while the grass has narrow blades and does not have much of the herbicide stick to it, even when it is wet. Vigoro Weed & Feed also contains fertilizer to help the grass grow and fill in the spots where the weeds die. Clover dies in one day. After two days, the weeds were curling up, dying from the herbicide. Plantain, the large ear-lobe shape weed that smothers grass, takes several days to die. First its leaves point upward rather than lying flat and smothering surrounding plants; then they curl up, then turn brown and then disappear. It’s fun to watch your lawn improve day by day. It took a full two weeks for some weeds to die, and some did not die. Some of my grass died — I guess I spread too much Weed & Feed in that area. It takes the grass just a week or two with water and sunlight to fill in for one large weed that has been killed. But if you have a predominantly weed area, it will take several weeks. Grass seed or sod will speed the growth of new grass on a bare spot. The Weed & Feed killed many but not all of my weeds, and did kill some grass. Considering the alternatives — hand weeding, or roto-tilling and seeding or planting sod, Weed & Feed is a practical and easy way to remove weeds from the lawn.

This product claims to get rid of weeds on top of feeding the lawn. In addition, Vigoro argues that its product cannot burn the lawn. After one week, and after having followed the instructions, I have some mixed results. Some parts are doing much better with thicker grass and fewer weeds. Some parts are nonetheless completely burnt and in others evil weeds are still thriving.It rained after spreading the product on wet grass and it has been quite warm. I'll keep monitoring but I am most likely to come back to manually taking off the weeds, seeding, fertilizing, and watering. Final tip: if you are getting this bag delivered, don't use a utility knife to open the box: I have managed to slash the bag while cutting the packing tape.

I am extremely disappointed with this product. I was hoping it will kill off the weeds and feed my lawn to make it greener. Instead, it killed my lawn while killing the weeds. I followed the instructions carefully and spread it out on a wet lawn along with using the appropriate setting on the spreader. I have approximately a 10,000 sq.ft. lawn and this bag is advertised to cover 15,000 sq.ft. So considering I have about 1/3 of the bag left, I’m pretty sure used the right amount and setting. It did not rain for the next few days and the weather averaged around 85 degrees that week. It rained a bit later in the week on and off but was mostly warm and sunny. Now, two and a half weeks later most of my lawn has turned patchy yellow instead of green. The product was shipped to me, so I assumed it was fresh and the most current mix/formula. I noticed that there are many negative reviews about it and also noticed that in Vigoro’s product demo videos they show an updated (different) bag / packaging and a new formula (mix) – both different from what I received. Perhaps they sent me the old & bad mix which ruined my lawn. I compared the “old & new” in the review photos, so take a look. My Lawn was mostly green before, just now as thick along with various weeds throughout. I am now left with an ugly lawn and hope others will see my review and pay attention to the product they buy. Vigoro was right about “kills down to the roots” and they were wrong about “no burn, guaranteed”. Hopefully Vigoro will own up to this and fix the problem for all the customers who suffered and lost their lawn.

We had a totally dead and parched area of our yard that would not sprout grass seed after a long drought. It was overrun with weeds in the areas that were not just plain hard dirt. I decided to try this weed and feed to see if I could get rid of the weeds and get some grass going as well. So far, so good. It took out the weeds, and you can see in the photo that the grass is beginning to grow as well. Still patchy, but I'm hoping it will spread a bit.

Applied while grass wet with dew as recommended. Spread in recommended pattern at recommended setting. Two days later yard is almost completely dead. Weeds and clover still thier. Waste of money.

My Pictures will talk for me before and after this product aplication ... If you have carpet grass don't used it !! I was advised by a Home Depot sales man to use vigoro weed and feed product for my grass... What a big mistake !! My grass used to be nice and green with some weeds but no to many.. Here I go to a Big Sale at Home Depot looking for a great product for my garden and what I get ..... My nice green yard turned into a horrible burned , tosted yard ....... Dont tell me my mistake because you are the ones to advise people , you are the ones how sale that product , I just ask for a good grass feeder and now look ..... I've been working so hard to fix my garden , I love my garden !! but look these mess and I went over directions... BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PRODUCT !! Some of my neighbors have the same problem , of course BIG SALE DAY .... Im so Sad and Disappointed about this product!! ....... I went back to Home Depot with pictures of my yard and the manager give me a discount on some bags of soil to cover the damage areas , they are so nice but I need to many bags. Good Luck !!

This Vigoro Weed and Feed product was great on killing my dandelions. Within two days they were all dead of applying this product to my lawn. Back of the bag has very easy directions and it tells you what number you need to set your spreader on for an even cover. It rained three days later after I applied this to my lawn and have notice a darker greener lawn.

I have used this product several times and it always performs well. There are a couple of key things when using any weed and feed. Make sure you use a quality spreader. The better models will provide you with the right amount of product on the ground. The second thing is to lightly water your grass BEFORE you apply the weed and feed. This will aid in the product sticking to the weeds. And lastly, do not water for a couple of days and please keep pets off the grass until the water in and the product has penetrated into the soil. Make sure there is no rain forecast for several days.

Super easy to spread across our lawn and before putting the Vigoro fertilizer down our yard was complete weeds. After just 1 week all of the weeds have died and the grass has actually grown back better than ever before...this is amazing!

The fertilizer aspect of this was great. The weed control part was non-existent. I can’t tell that it did anything. Will try something else next time.
