JUST NICE AND BRIGHT

Bright. Easy to replace.

Installation was no problem. Took 20 minutes to bypass the ballast and button every thing up.

My husband and I installed these today in our kitchen light fixture that is recessed into the ceiling. They work fine and look great--but they were a bit of a hassle to install. For starters, I mistakenly thought we could just use these to replace the existing fluorescent bulbs. No, no, no! Instead you have to remove the ballast cover (covers the wiring); cut the existing wires that are connected to the ballast (electricity turned off of course); remove the old lamp holders; then pop the new lamp holders into place. Once the wiring is re-attached and the ballast cover replaced, and the new bulbs are correcting installed, we have nice bright LED lights that should last longer, not throw off any heat (which discolors the acrylic light panels) and use less electricity. This whole job took us about 2 hours from start to finish but it only took that long because we couldn't figure out how the old lamp holders came out and ended up taking the entire fixture down. It turns out that you just push in on the sides of each lamp holder then push them up to pop them out. Really easy once you know what to do. The wiring was simple: you just connect the black from each bulb to the incoming black and the white to the white. We had two bulbs in this fixture and each bulb is wired separately so we ended up with two black lamp holder wires connected to incoming black and two white wires to the white. The next fixture we convert will probably only take 30 to 45 minutes. The savings is about 1/2 of what a new LED strip light would cost and we won't have to remove the old fixture next time now that we know how it all works! One last thing, the LED bulbs must be inserted into the lamp holders a certain way in order to work--again, found this out trial and error since I didn't see any information about this in the directions. The top of each bulb has a grey strip running down the middle with writing on one side--this side must be attached to the lamp holder that the wiring is attached to (unlike fluorescent bulbs only one side is wired). We initially put one bulb in the correct way and the other one in backwards.

Very easy install and don't have to replace existing fixture.

I ordered a 36 inch fluorescent bulb. What was received was a bulb t.hat . would not work with the existing 36 inch socket. It did include parts to convert the socket. I do not wish to change the socket as I have many of the same in our three story house. Also an electrical inspection will be required. I returned the daylight bulb and purchased two 24 inch daylighr and one 36 inch Cool White bulbs. There were no 36 inch Daylight available, I have worked with Home Depot for many years and this the first time there has been much confusion. Regards, KENT

Some confusion as to whether or not it is dimmable. Installation instruction indicate not dimmable. I would have ordered a dimmable one if I had known this.

Relatively easy to install for a Do- it -Yourselfer, these lights replaced my balky florescent tubes with brighter LED lights in my existing florescent fixture. Goodbye ballasts! The cost for this transformation is about twice the cost of a replacement florescent tube.

Have to rewire the fixture. They make led that you can keep the fixture as is. That's what I found at a competitor and purchased it there.

I love the end result, but very disappointed because we wanted something “plug and play” and they sold us this and told us that it was “really easy” to install. After reviewing the instructions, we ended up hiring an electrician to install for us. Installation required cutting electric wires.

Follow the directions and it should work like a charm.Happy with quality and how it went together. I would suggest switching out the bulb holder units from the ones on the unit as the bulbs will fit tighter which is what you want.

Hard to find, but Home Depot had this. Not a common size. After rewiring the fluorescent fixture, and replacing the tombstones, it is perfect fit. Very bright, and a lot brighter than the fluorescent bulb was. I am very pleased. It was a little more pricey, but the free shipping helped. J Lang
