      A:  they should'nt warp since they are kiln dried but if you are worried about warping the best option would be to knotch them into the 2x4.

          A:  These boards have knots in them, and the board will be weaker at each knot. I've seen bed slats that cracked right at a knot. Same in upholstered furniture frames. Much better to use a grade of lumber that is knot-free.

                  A:  It could, if you were going for a chunkier look. Some would use an additional small piece of trim (such as cove molding?) on top of it for a more finished look.
