A: La Madison ceiling tile is styrofoam. So, it is easy to cut with a sharp razor blade. I would recommend Placing the tile on a flat wooden surface to cut the tile and cut it slowly with a new razor blade to get the smooth edge.

Q:can this be glued to the studs of a basement ceiling
by|Feb 15, 2020
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Although these can be glued to just about anything, the problem with gluing them to the joists is that they are wider than the spacing between joists. Joists are typically spaced 16 inches apart and these tiles are 18 inches. There would be nothing to glue the edges to nor would you be able to caulk the seams. I don't think you'd be happy with the results. It would be better to put up a thin panel such as luan or peg board to the joists or even styrofoam insulation panels. Then you would have a solid flat surface to glue them to.
