A:  Hi, GKRH - We have never gone through the approval process for the City of Los Angeles.

A:  Yes, stiffeners are included.  Although one of the packages I bought initially for store pickup was opened (had obviously been returned) and one of the stiffeners was missing so had to return for an unopened package with both stiffeners.

A:  Hi, David - Yes, stiffeners are included with each fitting. 2 for the coupler and elbow; 3 for the tee.

A:  Hi, Peter - The O-rings are not separate but attached to the spacer component. A:  It appears that the fittings are compression type so if you are having leaks it is probably a dirty joint or an incorrectly tightened joint. Gas leaks are hard to find but I have found that Big Blue Micro Leak detector is much better than using soapy water. It is a gel type product that doesn't evaporate as quickly as water soap mix. Hope this helps. ET PS try to test with dry nitrogen or compressed air. I have used both but have found that my 20V Max Cordless Tire Inflator works best.

A:  Hi, Dale - All of our HomeFlex Underground Fittings are approved by NFPA, ICC, IAPMO, and UPC as shown in our Design & Installation Manual at HomeFlex.com. However, we have heard on some rare occasions where a local propane company won't allow their use. Our polypipe is o.k. but fittings are not. As far as we've determined, this is because the propane company may own the equipment and wants to sell and/or use only their own fittings. Since the poly pipe is made to specific dimensional and materials standards, fittings from other companies will work fine on our pipe.

A:  Hi, Dale - This is a very surprising question. All Home Flex Underground products are certified by various testing agencies and meet all applicable standards. Check out the Design & Installation Manual at http://homeflex.com/downloads/HOME-FLEX_Underground_Manual.pdf. You'll note on page 3 of the manual that we're approved by IAPMO, UPC, and NFPA. We always recommend that local codes be checked in your area which are the "final word" as to what can be used. What's concerning is that the propane person mentioned that the tubing is allowed, yet Home Flex fittings are not, as they are engineered to work together. We'd be curious to hear of details where you are located and what might have been recommended that are "legal". A:  Hi, jwren - SDR 10 vs 11 pipe have the same OD but different ID given that SDR 10 has thicker walls (thereby creating a smaller ID). So the product you reference will not work. However, you can use p/n 18-406-012-10 on hd.com to get an SDR 10 applicable part. This is very rarely used and is applicable to 1 1/4" gas pipe only . . . no other sizes. Hope this helps.

A:  Hi Jim. No, sorry. Home-Flex Underground fittings are only approved for use on underground systems that are installed at the minimum required trench depth. They may never be used above ground. They may never be used in a building or house. They may never be used under a building or house.
