A:  Edie - No, to ensure correct operation and honor any warranty claims, it needs to be installed as stated in the instructions.

A:  Not really, but yes. It is intended to be mounted by the 4 holes at the bottom. If you were to attach it on to the side of a European style (frameless cabinet) it could hit on the hinges or the door. If you have a traditional framed cabinet, you would have nowhere to attach the slides on the back of the cabinet. It will sit to far forward and will prevent the door from closing. You could add a wood shelf inside the cabinet and then attached the drawer. You would just need to secure the wood shelf you installed with small L brackets so the shelf does not tip forward with using the drawer.
