Q:How difficult is it to change the programmed temperature changes. My current thermostat has 6 times per day when you can program the temperature for seven days. So when I want to do a programmed temperature change, I have to do it 42 times. Is this thermostat similar or will it be easier to program changes.

A:  The programming for this thermostat is very user friendly and is done though the application. There is a process that will ask you what your week is like and take you through the programming right on your phone. You can also either use 4 periods of the day or 2.

A:  Bill, It's a breeze to change - either from the unit itself - or from the phone-based application. I have mine set to raise the temp from x to y at 6 a.m. and then drop it back down from y to x at 10 pm Monday thru Friday, with different settings for the weekend. I also have an away mode that keeps it at a low temperature in the winter until I'm 50 miles from home - at which time it automatically kicks on so the house is warm when I arrive. I can tell you my heat / electrical bills are down 20% since I installed it. Not sure I read your question right - but hoping you don't make six heat changes per day with your current system. That alone would kill any savings simply from electrical fan cycling. I love this system and have installed four of them [three for relatives and friends]. All are very pleased with the system. Hope this helps.

A:  Yes, you just need to have a lithium battery installed. I bought a Venstar Add-A-Wire from Amazon for $30. This turns your 4-wire system into a 5-wire system--so you will have a C-wire, with no more need for a battery. The thermostat does not update wirelessly without the 5th wire, and not as much information is shown on the display. The Add-A-Wire took me 15 minutes to install.

A:  Yes. My system only had four wires, it had no "C" wire for constant exterior power. So, it uses two size AA batteries to power the unit. It's convenient that LUX includes the two batteries. The instructions made it easy to wire it into the system. I didn't even have to change any "jumper wires" as LUX had them preset for my 4-wire cooling/heat central air system. By the way, my pre-existing wiring was using a blue color wire for the yellow terminal (no yellow wire existed), so be sure to take the photo of the old wiring connections before removing the old thermostat to avoid confusion when installing it.

A:  I called a Home Depot representative and she said it works with Alexa. However, I then went to Luxe/Geo's website and it says you need an extra USB chord/adapter not supplied if you don't have a "C" wire. "C" wire usually means a two wire system. From Luxe/Geo's website: 11. What do I need to know if I want to use Alexa with my GEO? Your LUX/GEO needs to be powered from your heating/cooling system via a system common wire (“C” wire), or with the LUX USB Power adapter kit (sold separately). A LUX/GEO using battery only power cannot support Alexa.
