A: Hello TimC: I had a hard time finding out the measurements of a "standard" joint compound bucket are. If those buckets are the same as a standard 3.5 or 5-gallon bucket, then yes. The lids have a Top Outer Diameter of 12.108" (+/- 1/8") and a Height of 0.625". They are made of .70mil LLDPE.
A: Hi John, I don't have any data on the length of time, but HDPE buckets and lids may indeed crack after prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures.
A: Haven't tried it but I doubt it would crack
A: Well I'm in Puerto Rico, because of high humidity and higher sun impact is has kept in great shape. But the best part is keeping humidity out of chicken feed, it so thigh that it hard to open because I have different buckets.
A: Hi Louise, yes, it does! Any of our 5-gallon lids will fit our 5-gallon buckets.
A: I think so.
A: Hello C2C316 - no, this lid is not food safe. Currently only our screw-top lid is food safe. Our food safe products will have a sticker explicitly identifying it as such. You can find the lid by searching: Internet #303808738.
A: I use the Leaktite lid on my white 5 gallon bucket. I works great.
A: Yes it does
A: Yes it should. They're all pretty much the same.
A: Yes, Safado, our 5 gallon buckets are standard so any 5-gallon lid will fit.
A: Sure does. Infract it's great if you need frequent access to it's contents. Easy peel up and replace. This lid will probably outlast the bucket. I've been using these lids for years.
A: These snap onto the rim of the bucket. I would guess that it is your press on in your terminology.
A: Press.
A: Press on
A: Its a screw on. The lid has a gasket for water tight seal.
A: GMA, these lids snap/press on the rim much like a deli cover. A light tap with a mallet may help, especially the first time, but you should be able to do it without any tools...just press down around the rim of the bucket.
A: Our buckets and lids have not been tested against acetone. They are made from a flexible High Density Polyethylene (HDPE #2). We don't recommend our products for storing acetone. Also, the reusable lids are designed to be easily removed and would not have a tight seal. I suggest you check for a Material Safety Data Sheet or contact the acetone manufacturer for safe storage procedures.
A: I have cleaned the lids with acetone with no damage.
A: The old hands don't have the strength that they once did, so I bought a lid remover (like $8-$10).
A: Hello Flo, if this is the lid you purchased, it should come off fairly easy. If you've gotten it on really tightly, a few taps with a hammer or prying it with a screwdriver (be careful with this) should pop it off. I also see on homedepot.com they sell a lid opener (search Internet #203713320 or Model # 5425). It has gotten good reviews so it may be a good investment and make opening the buckets way easier.
A: JUst pull up on one edge and work your way around pulling up easy by hand.
A: Pull up with your hand on one of the edges and work your way around not that hard.... I remove mine 2 or 3 times a week as I use them to water chickens...
A: Just pull up on th edge with your hand and work your way around the bucket. Not hard at all to remove I take the lid off several times a week to add water for my chickens.
