A:  If it is too hard to reach and pull down, you have it mounted in a wrong position. It can be left half way but it may sink after it gets used.

A:  I hired a carpenter-handyman to install the bar onto the wall.  It’s important to have the bar fortified onto or into the wall.  But it’s worth it.  We keep the safety bar in the up position most of the time, but when we need it in the down position, we feel confident that the safety bar will be safe because it is installed correctly.

A:  No, use it only in the horizontal position. It DOES NOT lock in the vertical position

A:  It cannot be 'locked' into the upright (vertical) position and I would not recommend relying on the clip that retains it in the upright position. I added a sturdy zip tie to hold it in the upright (vertical) position and that has worked well. Frequently inspect the zip tie for any signs of fatigue.

A:  I installed next to toilet for elderly parents. drops down and they can hold and lift themselves up. Then goes up so out of the way. Extra reinforcement of studs in wall needed as will be weight bearing.
